21st at 85.553. Just below Matt Bryant and above Jason Myers. Pretty good company. -

Epenesa has 13 sacks over 2 years playing a limi9ted role as a #4 and sometimes #5 DE. He currently has the 25th highest FG % in NFL history. You could do a lot worse. -
$65M AAV minimum.

WR trade candidates, who do you want?
BullBuchanan replied to Einstein's Dog's topic in The Stadium Wall
None. We're broke and none of the players above represent value. -
It's sad, but the man was 75. If it wasn't this, it would have been something else. There are no good endings.

Upside based on what? Draft position? As a pro, he's never flashed a trait that makes him special. He is very good against the run, but that's not really the defining trait you're looking to get out of your #1 DE in today's game. As a pass rusher or playmaker, I don't see the potential for him to be a difference maker out there. -

AJ Epenesa is my pick. I was dead certain he'd get a 4 year deal somewhere averaging 12-13M a year based on the flashes he showed with limited opportunities. Still just 25 coming off back to back 6.5 sack seasons, he'll have a much bigger role this year if the Bills don't make a splash acquisition. He was a far better player than Von Miller last season, and hopefully the Bills cut ties with him or keep him limited to a reserve role unless he's truly back. Epenesa has his limitations, but he's got a very high motor and nose for the ball that guys like Milano and Bernard have. He'll never be an elite pass rusher, but he could be one of those key pieces to a championship defense. I think he offers something far more special than what I've seen out of Rousseau so far. -
Pretty athletic kid. Good for him. Hopefully he gets a shot somewhere.

2015 Carolina Panthers: Have we ever been as good?
BullBuchanan replied to Mikie2times's topic in The Stadium Wall
No, not the same. The 4 year younger version of him. -
See if you can get a copy of Bill's bill from his Bills Bills jersey. how much do they get from Tre?

2015 Carolina Panthers: Have we ever been as good?

I think being better "built" would imply the philosophy is different. It's the same philosophy. Cam and Josh are the same archetype, Josh is just a lot better. They were enamored with big slow WR prospects in the draft, first Benjamin and then Funchess. Their plans fell apart at WR because Benjamin got hurt and Funchess sucked. They too brought in a former star DE (Allen) at the end of the line to try to put them over the hump. They invested heavily in big men with 10/12 top 3 picks invested in OL or Defensive front 7 between 2012 and 2015. -

That's a silly argument, because Diggs was clearly a first round talent when the trade was made. Davis is at worst a 2nd round talent at this point in his career. When the draft happens, guys are unknowns. After they've played in the league 4+ years, where they were drafted doesn't matter at all. You can either play or you can't. We've got a ton of former 2nd round bums on this team now including Hamler, Claypool and Isabella. They aren't better than Gabe Davis just because they were drafted 2 rounds earlier. -

We watched a different player. Dude was a monster last season. I thought he was far better than his 10.5 sacks indicated. He's not a platinum tier pure pass rusher, but he's already a very high level complete football player that is always making plays. If he were on the Bills he'd have a legitimate argument to be in our top 2 players in the front 7. From 2023: -

It's very difficult to win, if not impossible, without a very good d-line. -
I don't seem to remember them playing very hard against the Bengals when other teams were fighting for a Super Bowl. Back then we were talking about how they were "emotionally exhausted". Were Ed Oliver or Leonard Floyd playing hard in the playoffs last year? Sorry, man. This team has had plenty of talent over this regime's tenure, but they're soft and worse, they're incredibly undisciplined. When you combine that with our coaching staff turnover and how bad our situational football has been, there needs to be a cap on how much praise you dole out to McDermott.
-
If only that's relevant to what I said. @ me when McDermott puts together a record like that with some of the schlubbs that have started games for Andy Reid. Josh Allen makes every person at OBD look like they know what they're doing. Edit: also, let me know if McD holds that average over another 300 games like Reid has.

fixed. the 2nd one was Davis.

The Bills should sign kicker Jake Bates from the UFL
BullBuchanan replied to LeGOATski's topic in The Stadium Wall
I think the part of my post that you missed is that shuffling doesn't result in a meaningfully "better" guy. They're all in the same bucket career-wise and they take turns year to year being better than one another. -

The problem is that, generally speaking, the grass is always greener when it comes to kickers. Our perspective is a bit distorted because we live in an era of great kickers. Tucker and Butker are the two most accurate kickers of all time, and 7 of the top 10 most accurate kickers of all time are currently active. 4 of those players (Tucker, Butker, Boswell, Fairbairn) have only ever played for one team Of the other 3, two of them played a rookie season with another team and then spent the rest of their careers with their current squad (Koo, Carlson) If you want one of those guys, you kinda need to get lucky, because most other teams are just shuffling the same guys around. As of right now, Bass has the 25th highest career kicking percentage. Other contemporaries like Gay (15th), Hopkins (17th), Santos (19th), Meyers(21st) have played for 3,3,5, and 3 teams respectively. These guys are very, very good in a historical perspective and yet they keep getting cut and shuffled elsewhere. -

How much better are they than Bass? Tucker, McPherson and Bass al missed 5 kicks last year. Sanders missed 4. Bass had the lowest percentage but he was effectively even with McPherson. Most kickers get so few reps these days that a couple more in any direction skews the stats a lot to make you think a guyw as great or terrible. Bass had his worse year since his rookie year with 5 misses for 82.8 percent, coming off back to back 87% seasons where he had 4 misses across 3 and 4 more attempts respectively. -
Top 5 QB and Top 5 WR salary cannot coexist on a SB team

You think Nacua would have been a target to replace Diggs had he been dealt last year? -
1. Bishop - potential long term starter at safety 2. Van Pran Granger - potential long term starter at C 3. Hardy - many say he's the best slot corner in the draft. Could take over Johnson's role and be here long term. 4. Ulofoshio - Given McD's love affair with ST guys, I think he could stick around to a second deal and be the next Matakevich 5. Coleman - Given the current WR market, I don't see him lasting to a second contract here unless he's a mild disappointment 6. Davis - given his age and position, unlikely he plays a second contract here 7. Carter - will be part of the rotation for his rookie deal. Perhaps he sees a second contract as a rotational guy. 8. Solomon - last year he may have had an uphill climb to make the team, but given how thin we are there he'll get a real shot 9. Grable - PS 10. Clayton - PS

Shakir and Samuel will be your first and second options to start the year with Kincaid lining up in the slot a good deal and then Shakir and Samuele moving in there when Coleman is on the field. I loved Michael Thomas before his injuries, but it's really hard to argue he's still an NFL level talent at this point. It's crazy how fast a guy can go from best int he league to irrelevant, but we've been seeing it a lot of it over the last few years. MVS might be the best player in that list right now, and that's not saying much because I'm not sure he's a top 90 receiver.
