Over-dramatized, oversimplified hyperbole. Booooooooo I mean....you DO remember the Bills finishing as the 2nd ranked defense last season? You're talking as if the Bills defense is awful, and they're just not.

I thought the most interesting comments form Beane in the entire interview were when he said the d-line class was just "solid". He was asked by the reporter if he felt it was "off the charts great", and Beane didn't seem to think so. He specifically mentioned that once you subtract out the prospects you don't feel are a scheme fit, you're maybe looking at a different d-line class than the public is looking at. Is he blowing smoke? Is he not that impressed with the d-line class? Is he going to make sure to take one early if he doesn't think the class is great as a whole? Just interesting.

I'm all about Mitch Wishnowsky in the 7th. Even the 6th if they need to. His leg strength has been compared by an analyst or two to Michael Dickson, the rookie phenom for Seattle last year. For anyone who says "you don't use a draft pick on a punter!"...I say...um, why not? He's a guy that, if he's good, will be on your roster for 15 years, flipping field position and pinning opponents deep. That's ABSOLUTELY worth more than an Austin Proehl or Ray Ray McCloud type.

I agree. If the Bills could trade down 5-8 spots, make a pick, then use their two 2nds or whatever to get back into the late 1st for a sliding Hock or Brian Burns or Jonah Williams, that would be sweeeeet.

The bolded is the main reason. If you think a QB is a franchise guy, you don't mess around with possibly losing out on him. But more importantly, I've seen a few draft analysts lately stating that the Redskins may not even have the CHANCE to get Jones at 15. I have read of recent serious interest on the part of the Broncos and Dolphins both. Furthermore, I read 10 different Redskins mock drafts, ranging from national analysts to Redskins bloggers, and 5 of them had Daniel Jones as the selection at 15. I believe that the public opinion on Jones has not yet caught up to the reality of how NFL teams feel about him. I will not be surprised if he is the 2nd QB off the board come draft day, ahead of Dwayne Haskins.

At pick 15, the Washington Redskins had a few different needs. They really felt like DK Metcalf could help, since Jamison Crowder departed in free agency and recent first round selection Josh Doctson has not had success. They were big fans of Montez Sweat, as Preston Smith departed in free agency and they need pass rusher opposite Ryan Kerrigan. Unfortunately, neither player fell to them. More importantly, though, in spite of their more immediate needs, the Redskins were majorly cognizant of the fact that the most important position in all of football has been a complete albatross for them in recent years. They traded for Alex Smith, but he suffered what may be a career ending injury. They have Case Keenum, but feel that he is likely nothing more than a stopgap. They considered trading up a few times during the draft, fearful that their quarterback of choice would be drafted before they could get to him. Things didn't work out that way, though. As such, Washington wastes little time in turning in their draft card, and believe this pick will have a massive impact on their team for the next 10-15 years. With the 15th pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, the Washington Redskins select QB Daniel Jones, Duke. Washington liked Drew Lock when they met him at the Senior Bowl. They liked his athletic upside. Washington fell in love with Daniel Jones, though, when he came to D.C. for a Top 30 pre-draft visit. The Redskins felt that he was an absolutely perfect fit for Jay Gruden's west coast offense. His tight mechanics, his quick, compact release, and his short and mid range accuracy was too much to pass up. He will compete in training camp with Case Keenum to be the starting quarterback for the 2019 season, and we feel confident that he will turn into the franchise QB we have sorely needed for quite some time. @Golden Goat and his Carolina Panthers are now on the clock.

Like bkep said, good job moving ahead of the Falcons and taking the guy they almost CERTAINLY would have taken. Not a bad trade for the Titans, either, in that they re-couped later picks to replace the early ones they lost.

The tough part about having a one round mock with trades is that, well, it's only 1 round. We don't get to use the theoretical extra picks we acquire in later rounds. If I'm only getting to project ONE of my team's picks, of what benefit is it to me to trade down and not get to exercise that one pick until later in the round? If we were doing, say, the 2nd and 3rd rounds, then I'd get to enjoy the spoils of my trade by getting to exercise those extra picks. The way things stand now, though, what's my motivation to trade down and pick up later picks that I'll never get to use?

Oh man. If only we had done that LAST year. No matter how Bills fans feel about Josh Allen NOW, at the time his name was announced, I'd be willing to bet the faces of most Bills fans would have been highly comical to see.

I'll be honest: It would not shock me at all if Allen was selected before Bosa. I give it a decent chance of happening in real life. Bosa has the higher floor, but Allen probably has the higher ceiling.

Great post overall. Thanks for taking the time! I liked the above bullet point in particular. It cannot be overstated how smart it was for McBeane to request these facility upgrades and how smart it was for the Pegulas to agree to them and finance them. For a team like Buffalo, which, as we all know, doesn't exist in the most attractive market for young, rich athletes, it is is/was imperative that they find something to help make them more of a priority destination. Our high quality coaching staff was the first step, as lots of free agents have already cited the "family atmosphere" and "culture of accountability" as being attractive elements. But these facilities? Absolutely the cherry on top. And if anyone thinks they don't matter, they need only reference Cole Beasley's recent comments. It is absolutely critical and absolutely awesome to have (as of now) the best athletic facilities in the NFL. It also may translate to wins, in that the facilities feature state-of-the-art recovery equipment and therapy. I just can't adequately express how awesome this is for the Bills and the players. It's a huge deal.

Unless there are some major attitude or motivation issues we're unaware of, I'd love to see Buffalo send a 4th or 5th to TB for Gerald McCoy. Would solve our 3T need for the next few seasons and allow us to concentrate on finding edge rushers and continuing to improve the offense in the draft.

Jackson would be the perfect backup to Allen. He is one of the few humans on earth who have physical gifts about equal to Allen's. As such, you wouldn't have to change the playbook at all if Allen was hurt and Jackson had to play. Oh, and I think he's going to get drafted a lot higher than people think. 3rd round is my guess. 4th at the latest.

Apples and oranges. Imagine Josh Allen had the exact rookie season that he did....but THIS season, a brand new coaching staff with a new offense came in, everyone nationally knew that the team planned to draft a different QB, and the future outlook for Allen involved either having to battle a #1 overall pick for the job or get traded to a place he had no control over. Would Josh Allen survive THAT reality? I like to think he would, but there's no way to know.

In Joe Buscaglia's most recent mock draft, he drew up a scenario in which Quinnen Williams, Ed Oliver, Josh Allen, Nick Bosa, and Montez Sweat are all gone before the Bills pick at 9. If this scenario were to play out, and the Bills were UNABLE to trade back for extra picks, who would you take? I make that proviso because I have the feeling that just about every reply on this thread would be "trade down". Well, suppose you CAN'T trade down here. The phones aren't ringing. Who do you take?

I'm not sure what the Cardinals are waiting for. If, as expected, they plan to take Kyler Murray, then why wait on trading Rosen? I suppose they figure the trade market will only improve as the draft nears. Instead, the opposite seems to be happening. It makes sense. Teams can't wait around forever. I have to be honest: I feel bad for Rosen here. He was drafted by a bad team, put in a position in which very few quarterbacks could have succeeded, and then his team got new leadership and gave up on him after one season. His potential future outcomes now include either sticking around in Arizona and having to battle a #1 overall pick that the new staff hand picked to be "their guy", or going to his second team in as many years, having to learn a completely new offense, new teammates, new city....No matter how it shakes out, the early circumstances in his career are making it unlikely that he's going to reach the heights that he may have had he been drafted into a more sound structure. A shame.

As a matter of fact, he had to bail out and run for his life SO often that I kind of wonder: Now that he'll actually HAVE a solid offensive line that holds up in pass protection, is he still going to get happy feet and bail out anyway, just out of habit and seeing ghosts? One certainly hopes not. That can be a fatal condition for QBs. Something tells me he'll be just fine.

WRs the second most important position behind QB? I don't think that's the case at all. Agree to disagree. Order of importance: 1. QB 2. Those who protect YOUR QB and those who negatively affect the OPPOSING QB (Edge, Corner, Penetrating DT)

Offensive skill players contribute to more wins than linemen? In what universe?!

I'm just talking about THIS draft with THESE prospects. It appears as though there will be multiple defensive linemen and offensive linemen with 1st round grades available when the Bills pick. In terms of positional value and importance to team building, I'm saying that offensive and defensive lineman are more valuable than, say, a tight end or wide receiver. A quarterback obviously has the highest value among any position, but the Bills already picked a QB last year, so it's irrelevant to this year's Bills draft discussion. When looking just at THIS draft class for THIS team and where they pick in round 1, I'm saying I'll be happy as long as they pick someone to either protect our quarterback or attack the other team's quarterback.
