Bills secondary left out of top-tier mention
Logic replied to HOUSE's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's Fox Sports. They're the ones who allowed the rigged "best fanbase vote" to go on without any mention of all the cheating on behalf of Titans fans. So, I guess what I'm saying is....Fox Sports Twitter polls are worth about as much as AOL stock at this point. -
John Warrow’s High Praise For Beane & McDermott Regime

Informative video on H. Phillips, Edmunds, Milano
Logic replied to billsgpr88's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
For one thing, the Bills should re-sign Jerry Hughes. He is still highly productive and I'd venture to guess that his ability to make plays is put to better use in McDermott's defense than it would be anywhere else. As long as Jerry is open to an extension and not asking for the moon, he should be re-signed. So that gives us Murphy and Hughes to start with. From there, a couple draft picks to infuse the position with youth should be all that's needed. -
Cover 1: Analyzing the Bills’ Athletic Linebackers
Logic replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
When I think of all the speed on this defense -- Oliver at DT, Edmunds, Milano, and Joseph at LB -- it boggles the mind. Add in the fact that they've completely rebuild the secondary from scratch into one of the best in the NFL, and I can see the Bills defense being good for years. They just need one more finishing touch: Some new faces at EDGE, which I expect to come next offseason. -

That was great, thanks. I was already aware of Milano and Edmunds being well on the road to elite status, but I hadn't seen many (any?) breakdowns of Harrison Phillips' play in 2018. That was really neat to see. The Bills are so strong up the middle: Star, Oliver, and the Phillips brothers at DT, Edmunds and Milano at LB, Poyer and Hyde at Safety. Love it. And we all EXPECT Oliver to be a beast, but what if it turns out Harrison Phillips is the real deal, too?! The Bills could have quite the DT tandem on their hands. -
Tremaine Edmunds suffers a season ending injury, leading to a general defensive awfulness for the Bills as *checks depth chart* JULIAN STANFORD(?!) starts 15 games. Linebacker depth is pretty scary for the Bills at the moment.

So much of what our next draft looks like will be decided by how the 2019 season plays out. For instance, if our WR corps do well and our offense succeeds, the chances of spending premium capital on a WR lessens. If Dion Dawkins fails to win the LT job and instead moves to guard, you have to think LT shoots to the top of the "needs" list. If Hughes and Lawson both leave in free agency, edge becomes need #1. As of this moment, I'd agree that finding a true #1 receiver should be high on the list. I am mindful, though, of the fact that they may need to completely remake the depth chart at EDGE.

Better than? Nope. I just feel the Bills have abhorrent depth at linebacker, even after the drafting of Joseph. With our defense employing fast, undersized guys at the position, injuries are always a concern to me. I also feel that Darron Lee is exactly the type of linebacker, in terms of playing style and athletic traits, that McDermott could make highly effective. He could back up all three spots. I suppose, if all goes well, that that's what Joseph could do, as well. Here's hoping Joseph turns into a real player. At the end of the day, McDermott/Beane seem to be the type that like to bet on high round, athletic talent that were misused/underused. If given the chance, I bet they could've turned Lee into a productive player. In any case, I wonder if Lee's addition and the switch to a 4-3 defense in KC means they release Ragland.

Not gonna lie, I wish the Bills had given a 5th rounder for Lee. I think he'd be great as a Will in McDermott's defense. Oh well.

I must have missed the parts where McDermott's team lacked identity and character, where McDermott was publicly calling out his players for lack of effort, or where players who left the team made public comments about how absolutely thankful they were to be away from that tire fire. I get it, though. Context isn't a thing in ScottLaw land. -

The below article is....really something. https://www.ganggreennation.com/2019/5/15/18624969/the-jets-are-an-aimless-embarrassment The Jets are an aimless embarrassment 30 By John B May 15, 2019, 2:15pm EDT SHARE Rich Barnes-USA TODAY Sports I don’t have any sympathy for Mike Maccagnan. His firing was overdue. He had four years to try his hand at being the Jets’ general manager, and his record was objectively poor in almost every category. He didn’t show the big picture vision necessary to build a Super Bowl contender. And there is something poetic about him being pushed out because he lost a power struggle. Just months ago he orchestrated a media campaign designed to make sure Todd Bowles and not he paid the price for the team’s disappointing season. He needed to be relieved of his duties. I am convinced of that. But as they do so frequently, the Jets have somehow managed to bungle things even when they are making an obvious move. Much of the discussion from today’s change will revolve around the timing. I have already seen many comments beginning with, “The timing isn’t ideal, but.” There is no but. -
Since when does being a great draft analyst on TV equate to having the skills necessary to run a football team? I'll just say I'm glad we have Brandon Beane, I like Mayock and Jeremiah both AS ANALYSTS, I DON'T necessarily have faith in either of them to be able to run a multi-million dollar organization. This whole "He's good on TV, he MUST be a great GM candidate!" thing is mind boggling to me.

Yep. I ALREADY loved the fact that the Jets gave tons of money to a running back and an off-ball linebacker. Now, hearing that their new head coach didn't even really want them? Too delicious for words. -

The AFC East incestual coach-swapping the past few years has been mind boggling. Rex Ryan gets fired from Jets for being a bumbling doofus, immediately gets hired by Buffalo...where he continues to be a bumbling doofus. Chan Gailey and Ryan Fitzpatrick get run out of Buffalo, the Jets bring both of them in to helm their offense. Adam Gase flames out in Miami, so they bring him to New York and make him head coach AND GM. Mike Tenanbaum gets fried from the Jets, gets hired to be a part of Miami's front office. Meanwhile, the Pats are sitting back, laughing and counting rings. You can't write this stuff. -

Yep. I mean...he completely seemed to lose the locker room in Miami. There were instances of him calling out his players publicly for lack of effort, there were players who left and were basically on their knees thanking God to be out of there. And this doesn't even make MENTION of the awful on-field product in Miami. His teams had absolutely no identity and were a real bore. And his "keen offensive mind"? Sure didn't help much. I will thoroughly enjoy watching him fail in Jersey just as he failed in Miami. -

I have been saying for months that McCagnan is a terrible GM and would be fired sooner rather than later. Not that bold a prediction, I guess, since anyone with eyes could see how bad he is/was. It's funny. Looking at the Jets and the Bills, roster wise, and "stage of rebuild" wise, you'd say they're similar. Both just landed what they hope will be franchise QBs. Both followed that up by adding playmaking 1st round DTs. Both are more toward the beginning than the end of a rebuild. There's just one key difference: The Bills have a cohesive, logical, methodical front office and coaching staff in lockstep, while the Jets are basically the pre-Beane dysfunctional Bills of a few years ago. It's hard not to look at the Jets from an outside perspective and conclude that they need to blow the entire front office structure up and do a complete organizational rebuild, like the Bills did with Beane and crew. Instead, they now have a head coach who the new GM may not want, and they let the now-ousted GM spend zillions of dollars on players that their coach reportedly doesn't even want. Dysfunction, ineptitude, disorganization...pick your adjective. The Jets are a poorly run organization with a bad head coach who now also has GM duties. As a Bills fan, this is glorious to watch. -
Cody Ford entire game vs Alabama video -- quite impressive

Yeah. I may be in the minority who think that it is NOT a slam dunk that Murray has a good NFL career. It would really be something if Rosen wound up being the better pro QB.
