  1. Great find. I'm now rooting for a Bills loss. Alright, Tyree. Forget what I said. Keep being yourself. You got this.
  2. As most probably know, the Bills have NEVER gone 4-0 in the preseason. I know, I know, who cares? Their chances to do so this year took a big hit when it was announced that Tyree Jackson would start the whole game. D'oh!
  3. I know that at the end of the evaluation process, the Bills had Josh Allen ranked as their number 1 QB in the draft. It worked out well for them that the first two teams taking QBs didn't see things that way. t's funny, looking back, knowing that the Dolphins were looming and wanted a QB, that they wound up with Rosen just a year later. I also remember hearing on draft night that the Cardinals LOVED Josh Allen and were absolutely crushed when they couldn't jump the Bills to get him. Not surprising, then, that they player they "settled" for, Josh Rosen, is no longer a Cardinal. Oh, and one of the little tidbits I found interesting: Josh was scheduled to fly to New Jersey to meet with the Jets after his workout here, but his flight was cancelled, so he stayed in Buffalo for the night and wound up having dinner at Bar Bill with some of the Bills braintrust and bonding more. Kind of neat. Last but not least: I don't want to be a downer, but speaking of the plane turbulence thing: They make it sound pretty serious in the article. Like, Daboll was Facetiming with his wife because he thought they might not make it. Can you imagine if that plane DIDN'T make it, and the Pegulas, Beane, and McDermott, well, ya know...Yikes. I don't want to even ponder that reality. Phew.
  4. I'll just say this: It would be stupid to cut Zay Jones. You want to trade him? Sure, fine. But cut him outright? That's silly. A healthy third year receiver coming off a season where he had about 700 yards receiving and 7 touchdowns? That's not a guy you just cut. I'm not saying he'd fetch a huge haul, but I think you could get, at worst, a 5th round pick for him. Hell, even a SEVENTH round pick is better than just cutting him (see: Sweeney, Johnson).
  5. This article alone is a good reason to get a trial subscription to the Athletic, if you don't have one already. It's articles like this that make me feel that my money is well spent.
  6. I'm not sure where my original post stated anything about how he's played lately. I simply pointed out that he's a top all time kicker and it was nice that the Seahawks messed up and let him go. That being said...I get the Bills fans are nervous about him, but the worry is a bit overblown, in my opinion. If you want to see a kicking game that gives real cause for concern, go look at the Bears or the Jets.
  7. Meh. He was admittedly bad at the end of last year, but it mostly came after the cheap shot when he was clearly dealing with injury. This preseason, he's been rotating between two holders every other time he kicks the ball. We'll see how things shake out come regular season. The fact that Hauschka says in the article that he had a really good spring and summer and the fact that the Bills re-signed him and Beane has full confidence leads me to believes the team is not at all worried.
  8. The question, now that the Bills appear set to keep 4 DEs instead of 5, is where will that extra roster spot go? 7 WRs? 7 LBs? 4 TEs? An extra DB? Should be interesting.
  9. Hauschka's 86.7% career field goal conversion rate ranks 7th all time in the NFL. He also holds the record for most consecutive made field goals from 50+ yards at 14. Yeah, that's right: Stephen Hauschka is a top 10 all time kicker in the NFL. The Seahawks were silly to let him go after one down season, and their error has benefitted the Bills greatly.
  10. You've obviously never heard my wife talk about that one woman from her work that she doesn't like.
  11. https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2019/07/15/the-fans-seem-to-want-to-stick-with-16-games/ The fans seem to want to stick with 16 games Posted by Mike Florio on July 15, 2019, 12:00 AM EDT With the sudden proliferation of stories about the NFL’s desire to expand the season to 18 games, we decided on Friday to get scientific. Or as close to scientific as social media allows. A Twitter poll asked you, the reader, to vote on four options for the length of a season: 16 games, 17 games, 18 games, or 18 games with maximum player participation of 16. More than 44,000 responded, and the initial returns nearly matched the final numbers. A whopping 62 percent of those who responded want to stick with 16 games. Of the remaining 36 percent, most (24 percent) wanted 18 games. And nine percent opted for 18 games with the 16 per-player limit. Only five percent cast a vote for a 17-game season (which is my own personal preference). The idea of playing 18 games with a limit of 16 per player has lingered for several years. The NFL reportedly has proposed the concept during labor negotiations with the NFL Players Association. Many have criticized the concept, loudly. Fans don’t like it, the media doesn’t like it, players don’t like it. Packers CEO Mark Murphy spoke out against it.
  12. I get anxious about every Bills game for as long as they're in playoff contention each season. Every single one. It'll be a hard fought matchup. Neither outcome would surprise me. Weeks two and three the Bills should win. Week one? It's a coin flip to me.
  13. I wish that -- apropos of nothing -- he had just blurted out "Alright! I admit it! Beebe's feet were out of bounds and that play shouldn't have counted!". Oh well.
  14. I don't honestly have a problem with the Dolphins making this move. If they think it will help them win more games, then more power to them. I'm simply stating that it's a little weird to see "the whole team is on the block, they're tanking for a QB!" one minute and then "they want to trade assets and give up big money for a pass rusher in his prime" the next minute. It's just a little weird to me. They should pick a lane.
  15. Because realistically, the team isn't going to be ready to compete for a championship for the next few seasons. So you're paying probably the biggest contract for a defensive player in league history for a guy whose presence isn't likely to change the fact that you'll be sitting on your couch come playoff time.
  16. The next thing of value you contribute to this forum will be your first.
  17. You're so consistently on brand. You never post a thing on this forum that doesn't just SCREAM "ScottLaw".
  18. He's gonna be a Dolphin. Kind of a weird move for them, given that they're JUST NOW starting a multi-year rebuild.
  19. I'm all for eliminating two preseason games. Adding two regular season games, however, is another matter. As it is, by the time we get to the last week of the regular season, every team is a walking MASH unit. I have no interest in seeing bad football with 2nd teamers in weeks 18 and 19. I also have no interest in seeing the record books invalidated/obliterated because now the players get 18 games instead of 16. I realize that the league has already extended its season on a few occasions in the past: from 12 to 14 and then from 14 to 16 games. That's where it should end, in my opinion. Profootballtalk and other outlets have done polls of NFL fans asking this very question, and in every single case, the "don't extend the regular season" option is the winner. By and large, fans don't want it.
  20. I just wanted to pop in one more time to say what an awful idea 18 games is. It's very clear that the fans don't want it, the coaches don't want it, the players don't want it. ONLY the greedy owners want it. Just an awful, awful idea. It's going to be a real bummer watching the NFL orchestrate its own demise in the coming years due to nothing more than greed.
  21. - Table smashing shenanigans are an embarrassment. Instead of diehard fandom being the thing Bills fans are primarily known for, it's lighting themselves on fire and jumping through tables. - The fullback position still has value, and I'm glad the Bills are keeping Dimarco. - Bills fans are, by and large, WAY too sensitive and over-protective of their team and region in general and their quarterback in paticular. - I echo the sentiment of those who say that coaches like Tom Flores and especially Don Coryell are WAY more deserving of the Hall of Fame than Marv Levy. - The Bills Super Bowl teams had more to do with a collection of great talent and an innovative offensive system than anything Levy did as a coach. Had the Bills had a better game day manager as a head coach, Buffalo would have won the Giants Super Bowl walking away. - The new zoomed out camera angle that NBC used the other night is awesome. - The Bills white-on-white away jerseys and throwback jerseys are the best in football.
  22. This thread can't be legitimate. I heard right here on this very forum that Edmunds needed to be switched to Will linebacker and was being miscast as a Mike. When will McDermott stop wasting this kid's career?!
  23. I guess the main point that I was trying to make is this: The Beane front office has stated over and over and over again that their preferred model is to draft, develop, and re-sign their own players. They've stated that free agency is for filling a few holes and supplementing the roster, but by and large, they want to build their team through the draft. With that in mind, the idea is that they will continue to be somewhat conservative with free agency dollars and large contracts, because they plan for the majority of their salary cap in the coming years to be devoted to the players that they themselves drafted. It may be optimistic on their part, sure, but no more optimistic than throwing big money at outside players via free agency or trade in the hopes that they live up to their giant contracts and acclimate to your system and all that type of stuff. If you want to comb through the specific players I listed and pick out where I'm wrong, that's fine. My main point is that they have said six zillion times that they want to allocate most of their money to re-signing their own players. That's it. It doesn't mean they can't or won't go out and take an occasional swing. They've already made Morse the highest paid center in the NFL and given fairly big money to Lotulelei. I'm just saying that I don't think Beane wants the first mega contract of his tenure as GM to be handed out to an outside player with an injury history. That's my opinion and I'm sticking to it. For what it's worth, I agree with the notion that having a QB on a rookie contract opens a four or five year window during which you should be aggressive and upgrade the rest of your team. I'm just saying that doing that is not without consequence, and it can eventually result in you having you watch some of your own homegrown players walk away because you've already allocated big cap dollars to splash free agency or trade acquisitions.
