  1. Blink twice if the Bills are still in on Kirksey ?
  2. I know I'm in the minority, but I don't see Tannehill replicating last year's success. I see him regressing to a level of play similar to his Miami years. Side note: QB money is crazy these days. Can't wait to see what Mahomes ends up getting.
  3. Yeah. The age thing doesn't really bother me, but the age thing COMBINED with the money he'll likely command does. If the Bills are planning to invest $15million/year in a defensive end, I hope they go with one who won't be turning 35 mid-season. The Bills are a young team, and should build their roster with not just the present, but the future in mind.
  4. On point. There's something to be said for the value of good PR vs bad PR, too. As such, if the NFL is smart, they will hold the draft in a closed environment, without fans present, in the name of public safety. Every other major sports league in the country has suspended their season. For the NFL to just proceed with its offseason plans as if nothing happened in the name of revenue would be an insane misstep, from both a health and PR perspective, in my opinion.
  5. It's not just about the draft pick and the player. It's about the contract extension that it's going to take to KEEP the player. We're talking in the neighborhood of $15million/year. I'm glad the Bills aren't committing that to a 34-year old player that had as many sacks as Shaq Lawson last year.
  6. Only question is how far they'll be delaying it. Things aren't likely to get much better, virus-wise, in the next month. So...Do they push it to the end of April? And if so, when does the draft end up taking place? And then offseason activities (OTAs, minicamps, etc) have to be delayed, too. What a mess.
  7. Mike Florio seems to be of the opinion that the NFL is just waiting until after the CBA is voted in to announce the delay of the start of the new league year. The theory is that they don't want to jeopardize the vote or give the players any reason to claim that the unprecedented chain of events should allow them to re-do the CBA vote. As such, they'll wait until it's officially passed, and then tomorrow they'll announce that the start of the league year WILL, in fact, be delayed. I don't have an opinion on the validity of this theory one way or the other, but I thought it was interesting, so I am reporting it here.
  8. The reasons that I think he may end up with the Ravens: - Never discount the degree to which NFL players want to stick it to the team that released them. With Baltimore, Kirksey would get to play Browns twice a year - He may perceive the Ravens as his best avenue to a Super Bowl. Who wouldn't want to play with Lamar Jackson? - Ravens may be able to offer him more of a full time role. More snaps = more money. - The "Ravens mystique" is real for defensive players, in my opinion. Here's hoping I'm wrong and he signs with the Bills today.
  9. Height advantage seemed to work out just fine on the football field. Also, his second 40 time was clocked at an unofficial 4.43, so there's that.
  10. I fear that the Ravens are going to make this dude an enticing offer and ultimately woo him away from Buffalo. Booooo, Ravens. Booooooooo!
  11. Matt Patricia is such an ass-clown. Did you see him ridicule a media member for slouching in his seat during a press conference? Completely condescending and ridiculous -- especially coming from a guy that looks and dresses like Matt Patricia does.
  12. I just saw that Detroit released right tackle Rick Wagner. I think he'd be a nice addition to the Bills o-line.
  13. I remember when it DID just used to be 30 old dudes in a Marriott banquet room. It was just as entertaining then. I'm actually kind of excited about it.
  14. Does anybody other than the people who were planning to attend the draft give even half a damn whether there are fans there to witness it or not? As long as the draft goes on and isn't delayed, I couldn't care less whether it's just in a room at a Marriott or whether it takes place on a blimp over New Zealand. Who cares? Just give me rookies!
  15. This is exactly what I want to see happen. Fill remaining defensive holes and depth needs in free agency -- there are plenty of great linebacker, DT, CB, and edge options -- and use just about the entire draft on offense. The defense already has a young, homegrown core and just needs a few vet additions. The offense, meanwhile, just GOT its infusion of vets last year in Brown, Beasley, Kroft, Spain, Feliciano, and Nsekhe, and needs some young, dynamic playmakers to grow with Josh Allen. Luckily, the WR, OT, and RB crops this year are all excellent.
  16. I agree that they believe in him fully, and that they think he'll get a lot better this season. I don't disagree with them! I also think Beane is a "hedging your bets" type of guy, and that he'll bring in a body at tackle, whether through the draft or free agency. The fact that when they were asked about what position Ford would play in his second season, they didn't just say "tackle", but were instead non-committal, tells me that they realize it's not a sure thing he pans out at that position. If they were 100% in on Ford as a tackle, they would have just replied "he's a tackle".
  17. Beane is no fool. He saw what we all saw at RT. I'd bet anything that he brings in SOME kind of meaningful competition for Ford, because I also think he wants Nsekhe to be the swing tackle, ideally.
  18. This is great. While the offensive line still has room to improve, this will keep the left side in place. I didn't want to see them completely re-make the offensive line AGAIN this year. At some point, you need continuity there. The Bills can now concentrate on upgrading the right side of the line, whether that's in the form of a new right tackle or some competition at guard for Jon Feliciano. I also believe that Dion Dawkins benefitted greatly, and will continue to benefit, from having a smart, solid veteran next to him. All in all, there was simply no need to let a good guard, who fit in well with our team and didn't allow a single sack all year , leave in free agency. I'll leave it with Josh Allen's quote about Spain: “He’s a really good dude. I love him and I wish we’d get him back too. If I had a say, we’d have in back,” Allen said in January. “He’s just one of those guys that you want on your team. He’s a team guy, he communicates well to the guys, he gets along with everybody in the locker room, he’s good presence and when he goes out on the football field and plays really well. I hope he knows that I love him and that’ll never change.”
  19. We are in the veerrry beginning stages of this thing affecting America. I'm not being alarmist, I'm just being realistic. Things are going to get serious over the next couple weeks. We'll see if the NFL holds fats to its "we're not gonna change a thing!" ethos. As it is, I expect an announcement cancelling the public/crowd aspects of the draft any minute now.
  20. Yeah....I don't think there are going to be any more pre-draft visits this year.
  21. Irrelevant to the conversation. Don't want this to turn into an argument/debate/political agenda thread. Just reporting the potential news as it pertains to the NFL.
  22. Not confirmed at this point, but with the NBA, MLS, and soon to be NHL suspending their seasons, and with the NFL sending all non-essential personnel home until further notice, don't be surprised if the start of the new league year -- and all that goes with it, including free agency and the draft -- is delayed.
  23. I have yet to see any reputable source confirm a Bills visit. Some Twitter accounts that I like, such as Cover 1, have stated that it's going to happen, but I haven't seen any of what I would consider "official" sources. Not sure what to think.
