Free Agency News and Updates - around the league

Wait... Are people still thinking the Bills will get Ngakoue? That dream flew out the window when they signed Addison and Jefferson, in my opinion. Any additions at edge will likely come in the draft at this point. -
Best WR Trio in the AFC, or in the League?
Logic replied to whatdrought's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Absolutely. If the question is "pass catching trios", it's a whole different ballgame. At that point, San Francisco (Kittle, Sanders, Samuel) and Cleveland (OBJ, Landry, Hooper) enter the discussion as well, I think. -

Kelce is a tight end. The Tampa Bay receivers you mention form a DUO, not a TRIO. Reading comprehension is hard. -

I have to be honest -- I don't really want to see the Bills sign Gordon or Gurley. Once you get past the "big name" factor and the "he used to put up good fantasy numbers for me" factor, you can see the reality of each player clearly: In Gordon's case, he has averaged LESS than 4 yards per carry in four of his five professional seasons. In Gurley's case, his effectiveness has decreased in each of the past couple seasons, and there are rumors that his degenerative knee condition is quite bad indeed. Draft a running back between rounds 2-4, bring another in via UDFA. Roll into camp (if there IS a camp) with Singletary, rookie 1, rookie 2, TJ Yeldon, and Taiwan Jones. Just say no to spending $6million on over-hyped running backs. -
We are looking at Melvin Gordon according to this tweet

Until I see one single, credible source about this, I don't believe it. This Bills front office is as tight on leaks as any we've ever seen...and I'm supposed to believe that two no-name Twitter accounts above know what's happening behind the scenes? Pshaw! -
Bills need a CB, Trevon Diggs played at Alabama

I’d prefer he trade DOWN a time or two in the 2nd round. Net a couple extra 3rd round picks. -
Best WR Trio in the AFC, or in the League?
Logic replied to whatdrought's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
My answer here is the same as what I commented on that Tweet: Duos and “whoever else” don’t count. The tweet said “TRIOS”. Two WRs and a tight end don’t count, the tweet said “WR trios”. In the AFC, the Chiefs can make a good case. In the NFC, the Bucs and MAYBE the Cards (Fitzgerald is well past his prime) can make a good case. At the very least, the Bills have a top 5 WR trio, and that’s something we couldn’t say last Sunday! -

LOVING it? Really? It's good that they're adding o-line pieces, but I'm not sure how GOOD the o-line pieces they're adding are. And don't they need some more offensive weaponry? If I was a Jets fan, I would be somewhere between mildly encouraged and downright annoyed. Look at what the Bills and Browns have put around Allen and Mayfield, respectively, and then look at what the Jets have put around Darnold. They need to get that boy some HELP! -
I gave it an A. - 26 years old - Four more years of team control - Contract is a really great value for a #1 receiver - Gives Bills top-5 receiving corps - Sure thing, as opposed to HOPING a rookie pans out - Is already very good, doesn't need to learn how to play in NFL for 2-3 seasons - Best route runner in the NFL - Top five contested catch receiver - Legitimate deep threat - Fits PERFECTLY with Allen's strengths and weaknesses - Won't preclude the Bills from drafting another WR early this year I thought about giving it a B instead, because the Bills DID give up a lot of picks. But if you look at it as a 1st, 2021 4th, Wyatt Teller and Russ Bodine for Stefon Diggs and a 7th, it looks quite fair. Bills still get to pick in rounds 5 and 6, still have a slate of seven draft picks, and in my opinion, will still draft a young WR early.

Blink twice if the Bills are still in on Kirksey ? -
I know I'm in the minority, but I don't see Tannehill replicating last year's success. I see him regressing to a level of play similar to his Miami years. Side note: QB money is crazy these days. Can't wait to see what Mahomes ends up getting.

Yeah. The age thing doesn't really bother me, but the age thing COMBINED with the money he'll likely command does. If the Bills are planning to invest $15million/year in a defensive end, I hope they go with one who won't be turning 35 mid-season. The Bills are a young team, and should build their roster with not just the present, but the future in mind. -
Draft may be postponed until May
Logic replied to voodoo poonani's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
On point. There's something to be said for the value of good PR vs bad PR, too. As such, if the NFL is smart, they will hold the draft in a closed environment, without fans present, in the name of public safety. Every other major sports league in the country has suspended their season. For the NFL to just proceed with its offseason plans as if nothing happened in the name of revenue would be an insane misstep, from both a health and PR perspective, in my opinion. -

It's not just about the draft pick and the player. It's about the contract extension that it's going to take to KEEP the player. We're talking in the neighborhood of $15million/year. I'm glad the Bills aren't committing that to a 34-year old player that had as many sacks as Shaq Lawson last year. -

Only question is how far they'll be delaying it. Things aren't likely to get much better, virus-wise, in the next month. So...Do they push it to the end of April? And if so, when does the draft end up taking place? And then offseason activities (OTAs, minicamps, etc) have to be delayed, too. What a mess. -

Mike Florio seems to be of the opinion that the NFL is just waiting until after the CBA is voted in to announce the delay of the start of the new league year. The theory is that they don't want to jeopardize the vote or give the players any reason to claim that the unprecedented chain of events should allow them to re-do the CBA vote. As such, they'll wait until it's officially passed, and then tomorrow they'll announce that the start of the league year WILL, in fact, be delayed. I don't have an opinion on the validity of this theory one way or the other, but I thought it was interesting, so I am reporting it here. -
The reasons that I think he may end up with the Ravens: - Never discount the degree to which NFL players want to stick it to the team that released them. With Baltimore, Kirksey would get to play Browns twice a year - He may perceive the Ravens as his best avenue to a Super Bowl. Who wouldn't want to play with Lamar Jackson? - Ravens may be able to offer him more of a full time role. More snaps = more money. - The "Ravens mystique" is real for defensive players, in my opinion. Here's hoping I'm wrong and he signs with the Bills today.

Internally there’s some love for Tee Higgins
Logic replied to BillsMafi$'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Height advantage seemed to work out just fine on the football field. Also, his second 40 time was clocked at an unofficial 4.43, so there's that.
