  1. People are criticizing their drafting? White: lock down CB set for a while Dawkins: LT set for a while Jones: starting to come around, should give us a #2 or slot WR for a while Phillips: Anchors the D line as the young Kyle Edmunds: Incredible athlete, gives McD his MLB (and yes, Rivers schooled him and 20 year olds learn) Allen: potential long term answer at QB; how many folks howled for the Bills to finally go all in and get a QB? Johnson: slot CB Teller: depth at G and hopefully matures into a starter Ray Ray: Slot WR Thry may have not gotten the best FAs this year. That you can criticize. But drafting? They have a plan. They have 10 picks and a ton of cash. They want football players; by going after non flashy FAs (maybe one or two major ines) and with the next draft they can get things going quickly. They wanted to compete short and long term. Last year the plan worked exactly as hoped for. This year may not, at least the short term part. Their success or failure will come from how good they are at picking the right guys, like every other team in the league.
  2. My eyes see it much differently. But I guess that's why I'm not an NFL coach.
  3. Says the guy who would have trade an entire draft to get Winston. Mahomes looked great the first two games. Have to hand it to the kid. coming out there was a lot of concern an=bout his footwork, that he had only played in the one read spread option, and so on. If he continues the way he's going every team in the league will regret not taking him. I wanted Watson in that draft. And around this time last year people were agog over him like they are with Mahomes now. Flash forward to this season and Watson has struggled for a couple games, and now folks are wondering if they anointed him too soon. My point: let these young guys play some, look at the tools they have around them, let them go through ups and downs. And then we'll see. Oh, and by the way. Size, arm, moxie? Pretty much describes the Bills current starting QB.
  4. I'm referring to his injury history
  5. I presume they were done under the guindance/permission of McD
  6. I would be willing to wager we'd see that in 99% of guys making their first start. I was encouraged that he didn't have the deer in the headlights look.
  7. Is Perriman the guy the Ravens spent a first round pick on only to find out he can't play football?
  8. I think it will improve. He works constantly on his mechanics. When they game slows down for him then the mechanics are easier to accomplish. To me the most important thing for any young QB, far apart from mechanics, arm strength, etc., is for the game to slow down. When you can get the game to slow down, you can come up to the line more confident in where the ball should go, more confident in your throw, you can step up with more confidence. And so on.
  9. For God's sakes. It was his first game. I get called out for criticizing fans instead of players. Go ahead and do it again if you want, because this kind of stuff is nuts. Slow eyes- it's his first time against a full defense prepped for a real game.
  10. Yeah, a bit tongue in cheek of course. But to an earlier point I made, a couple years ago didn't Richie go to the coaches and tell them to simplify the schemes? And things improved immediately?
  11. I would imagine that's what will happen
  12. That's my biggest concern. When I watched the Bengals pre-season game, all three guys on the interior were just getting knocked straight back. No evidence of physicality. I've asked before and will ask again: how can a guy that weighs over 330 like Ducasse just get knocked around like a bowling pin? Or groy? Or Miller?
  13. Can someone explain to me why they can't just do this: See the guy across from you. Knock him down. Then go knock another guy down.
  14. Just pointing out the ridiculous hypocrisy around here. And by the way, I've laid out plenty of criticism around here the last two weeks. Mentioned that any criticism they got was well deserved given the way they've played. Have repeatedly said they need to get rid of some O linemen. Called out Benjamin for lack of effort. But yes, fans around here are ridiculous sometimes, and this thread is a perfect example. They're brining in a guy to look at for DB that I will pretty much guarantee no one has heard of. But they criticize it like they know exactly what this guy might bring. In the meantime, they bemoan not bringing in a Gordon, even though his history strongly suggests that he's a train wreck waiting to happen, and when they DON"T bring him in that's wrong. They throw a 7th to the Browns for Coleman and that's just so horrible to do, but then when they cut him because he can't or won't learn plays, then it immediately turns around to why we should keep him, right after they get blasted for brining him in. I could go on for days with this kind of stuff. Fans are borderline schizophrenic. And yes, the team stinks right now, and McD needs to do something about the lack of effort and/or understanding in the first half of games. Maybe him calling the D will help. And changing some O linemen.
  15. To address your points: 1. I wanted Watson and said so at the time. He is now having some sophomore slump issues, which is to be expected. Mahomes had the same rep as Allen was getting this year, big arm but poor mechanics, came from a one read offense etc. So no regrets there. 2. I wanted to keep both Hogan. Still would like to see Sammy here but he never lived up to expectations here or in LA, and now is way overpaid in KC. woods was going back to LA regardless. And some people here bring up Goodwin and conveniently forget he could barely stay on the field here. 3. Dareus was a big fat tub of goo here who under different regimes refused to be coached, was a problem child, and you can't have the biggest contract on your team be that guy. Now, I'll ask you a question. Why do you lump in different personnel moves, some not made under the current regime, and somehow put it on the current regime? Why do you think that's a fair appraisal? Why do you refuse to understand the successful organizations have to have a specific plan, and then work in concert to bring off that plan? Go ahead and name me successful organizations that do not have a specific culture they work around, and/or one where employees get to run around willy-nilly and break any rules they want whenever they want. As for specific decisions made by Beane and McD, ones I like or are OK with Getting rid of Dareus Drafting White Poyer and Hyde Allen and Edmunds Dawkins Darby (because again you have to establish your culture) Ones they should not have done Benjamin EJ Gaines McCarron (should have gotten a more veteran guy, and still should) Fine either way Star As for asking when the last time the Bills did something outside the box, they had a team back in the 80's and 90's. Went to 4 Super Bowls. Ran something called a K Gun that was revolutionary. Had a HC that gave guys individuality but knew what culture he wanted. Had a GM not afraid to make moves he felt were in the best interests of the team. You should read up on them.
  16. 1. We have to bring guys in!!!! 2. They bring a guy in!!! 3. Not that guy!!!!! and so goes the mentality of Bills fans.
  17. The conspiracy theory that because a couple guys didn't sign as FAs that it means there's something horribly wrong at OBD.
  18. A couple years ago Richie and others went to the coaches and asked them to simplify the blocking schemes and the line play improved overnight. I'd start there. Then see which guys still get blown off the ball routinely and replace them.
  19. He was OK. But McDs D scheme requires a more athletic guy. What about guys who did come? The conspiracy theories are getting a little ridiculous.
  20. May I remind you that was a different front office?
  21. Laughed so hard my teeth fell out
  22. I know of no successful organization that does not have a plan and just lets employees do whatever they feel like doing.
  23. Will be one extreme or the other. Either Brady and Belicheat will finally get the kid to listen, or the pressure put on him will cause him to seek his demons more quickly
