And there are different ways to win with offense, such as a thing called running the ball. And there are different ways to win football games, such as with defense. Defense wins championships, always has, always will. What this comes down to is this: you have publicly stated you don't like the way the Bills are playing because to you it is not entertaining. You want to be entertained by a lot of yards throwing the ball. Apparently winning football games is not entertaining to you, given the 10-4 record. You claim winning football with a 10-4 record is comical just because they don't happen to run an offense you like. So you have choices to make. You can either continue to rant and howl at the moon, and remind everyone here of the definition of insanity. Or you can change your view of what is entertaining, embrace the fact that the Bills have a team that plays suffocating defense and an offense that places emphasis on running and a conservative passing game designed to not turn the ball over, and actually enjoy the run they are making this season. Or if being entertained by a ton of passing yards is what gets you off, then change you allegiance and root for, say, Tampa Bay, where they throw for a ton of yards, an ton of picks, and are going home in a couple weeks. Your choice.

I will say the same thing that I and countless others continue to say to you: who cares? Just because you want to be entertained by offense doesn’t mean the team has to change its philosophy to appease you.
-
Fair enough. I don’t know that I’d say major leap, but clearly you want any second year QB to continue improving.

How Much Confidence do you have in Miami?

They’ll play hard but they don’t have the horses. -
Saying he plays almost identical to last year pretty much disqualifies you from any rational discussion about Allen. And your statements about how you want 300 yards just because it’s more exciting football, to the point of being OK ever if they lose, counts you out for rational discussion as well.

Well put

I’ll be calmer here I hope. Coaches are paid to win games. They are not stunting Allen’s growth. They are using one of the best defenses in the league to form the basis for their strategy. And they are trying to make sure their young QB does not make a lot of mistakes and turnovers because the coaches know two things: defense wins championships, and turnovers lose games.
-
Come on now. So you have a team that puts wins on the board before the last two minutes and that is used as a criticism? Allen looks lost? When? What I see is a young QB that plays his best in the fourth quarter. That’s a good thing to have. Why are some folks looking to find ways to criticize the kid? Everyone knows he hasn’t reached his potential yet but it comes across as wanting him to fail. I wanted Rosen. Wanted Watson before that. But I like what I see in Allen, has a lot of potential to grow. And he just seems to fit the community.
-
I wish I agreed. Unfortunately there are some here who are too invested in claiming Allen was a bad draft pick. They will simply move to another false criticism.
-
The data indicates he is leading the league in fourth quarter comebacks, I believe. Allen is a second year QB. He is progressing well. He is not all he will be yet; no one I know of claims such. On the other hand, defense wins championships, our defense is playing great, and people seem to want to continually discount that.
-
Is winning games and getting into the playoffs good? Or do they have to do so in a specific way?
-
10-4 record. In the playoffs. Defense wins championships. If you are so hurt over the 300 yard crap root for a college team that runs a spread offense and leave the Bills and their fans alone.
-
I’m not sure you know what you’re saying at this point.
-
Now let’s pick a game where he 4 picks. Terrible game, right? Quit while you’re behind.
-
Defense wins championships. That guy doesn’t know what he’s talking about.
-
Defense wins championships. Always has, always will. Having a QB that is clutch in the fourth quarter also helps. We have one of those. Honest to God, the attitude of some around here is nuts. Allen is a work in progress. Every single Bills fan on the planet knows he has areas to improve, but some act like he what he is, and can't get better. Completely absurd. And if we had the offense some want us to have, then people would complain that the defense doesn't hold up its end. We have people on this board bashing Allen and the offense because they haven't thrown for 300 yards; one person in particular has specifically stated he' wants 300 yards because that to him is more entertaining than inning the way we're winning. Completely absurd yet again. we have a guy who would have traded an entire draft for Jameis Winston, who has stated he generally only comes on the board after losses so he can criticize, bashing Allen by just cherry piking stats. again completely absurd. This team is put together to win with a strong D, an offense including the QB that can run, and a young QB that can make clutch plays in the fourth. As Allen develops and learns more about reading defenses pre-snap and such, undoubtedly the offense will change. But right now, he has way more TDs than INT's, the team's record is 10-4, they are in the playoffs, and any team in the AFC right now if you ask will see them as a dangerous foe coming up. Because professional football teams know that when you have a defense like we have, you are in position to win every time you take the field. How about focusing on that instead of dreaming up yet more ways to bash the team and its QB?

Anyone remember the clamor to hire him as our guru before McD got hired?
-
It’s OK to think both Jackson and Allen are good QBs. It’s OK to acknowledge Jackson is having a better, MVP- like, season. It’s not OK to cherry pick stats and it’s not OK to stubbornly stick to your Allen is bad screed because that’s what you thought before he was drafted and now you’re butt hurt because he’s proving you wrong.
-
Almost as unbelievable as trading an entire draft for Winston. But I would agree Jackson would do well here provided Daboll designed the offense appropriately. By the way, are you going to mention Allen being the top in fourth quarter comebacks or are you just going to continue to cherry pick stats?
-
Here’s the thing. You’re arguing with someone who specifically stated he only shows up after losses because there’s nothing to say after wins. Why would a purported fan of the team do that? So it’s surprising he’s saying anything this week. You’re arguing with someone who would have traded an entire draft for Jameis Winston, and now says he’d be as good as Allen even given his picks. You’re arguing with a guy who seems to think he’s a QB expert and stats expert but shows no evidence of either. In short, it’s not worth arguing with someone bereft of logic. I also get sick of the stuff from more than a few people about how Allen hasn’t put the team on his back or that he couldn’t carry them to a win. First, these folks need to look up the definition of the word team. Second, it would be pretty damn dumb to not rely on the kind of quality defense we have. Third, Allen is among the leaders if not the leader in fourth quarter comebacks so to say he can’t put the team on his back is absurd in its face. Finally, no one- let me reap at no one- believes Allen is a finished product. I’ll say agin: no one. And the implication people are saying so is crap.
-
So you're actually showing up after a win? You have written in the past you only show up after losses, so I'm surprised, although you of course only show up to bash the QB. This from the guy who would have traded an entire draft for Winston. Allen is an unfinished product. it doesn't mater what he would or wouldn't do with a worse defense etc. because football is a team sport. And Allen leads the lead in fourth quarter comebacks. Funny you don't seem to consider that when considering stats. Or maybe not really funny, just typical.

Josh Gordon suspended indefinitely, yet again

I hate to see any young person throw away opportunities. Feel for the kid but the NFL needs to say enough, you can only get so many chances. Hope he can finally come to grips with his addictive behavior. -
