  1. https://www.cnbc.com/2023/09/11/disney-charter-near-carriage-deal-that-would-end-cable-blackout-sources-say.html Nice! looks like this might have worked out decent for me as a spectrum customer!
  2. A local 49ers beat reporter said that according to a team source the Bills made an offer and the cowboys beat it. https://www.si.com/nfl/bills/news/buffalo-bills-trey-lance-trade-offer-rumors-dallas-cowboys-san-francisco-niners-josh-allen-backup-quarterbacks
  3. Hey, thanks for the tip! I just grabbed peacock premium free for a year through spectrum. 😁
  4. Bengals QB Joe Burrow wants to keep him and WRs Tee Higgins, Ja'Marr Chase together: 'We're working to make that happen' https://sports.yahoo.com/bengals-qb-joe-burrow-wants-to-keep-him-and-wrs-tee-higgins-jamarr-chase-together-were-working-to-make-that-happen-204120421.html So much for that… lol
  5. I am not by any means trying to argue that Mike Brown is an intelligent owner. I’d say he’s near the bottom of the list of good owners. But I guess I’m just failing to see how you think Burrows contract hurts Mike Brown’s bottom line, or why you think this makes him insane? Besides having to guarantee the money, I would say it’s a big win for Mike Brown’s pocket book. The Bengals are quickly becoming a popular national team with Burrow at QB and have made the AFC championship game twice and the super bowl once in burrow’s 3 years as the starter. That’s more revenue for Mike Brown. I would say he is making more profit by paying Burrow, considering how much he’s already helped the bengals popularity and playoff revenue. And what was his alternative? Refuse to guarantee Burrow the market rate, tag him twice and let him walk? Why would they do that to their beloved star franchise QB who wants to spend his entire career in Cincinnati?
  6. Ok, say he didn’t use any tricks or deductions and paid the full 24% federal tax rate + 4% Ohio tax rate (which seems unlikely since multi millionaires often only pay a small fraction of that) - he’d still have made about $270 million last year from the bengals. So, still as much as Burrow will make over the next 5 years. And NFL profits continue to rise almost every year. So Brown will probably make more than 5x what Burrow will over that 5 year span. So the owner of one of the least profitable NFL teams (2nd least iirc) is making 5x more than the highest paid NFL player. All of this is kind of missing the point of my post though. There is a salary cap ceiling/floor and every team spends a similar amount of total money on players every season. The cap is tied to NFL profits and each team has to spend a percentage of the cap every season. So if they give one massive deal and 52 tiny ones, they’re still spending a similar amount of money to other teams.
  7. Just to put this deal into perspective - The total amount of Burrow’s 5 year deal is less than an NFL owner makes in a single season. The Bengals owner spent $89 million in 2022 in operating expenses and made $462 million. So just shy of $375 million in profit. In a single year. In the NFL there is a salary cap ceiling and floor (every team has to spend to at least 89% of the cap in a 4yr period). Every team decides how to spend that allotted money. Even teams without a big QB contract on their books are spending a similar amount of total money on players.
  8. $219 million guaranteed. The most guaranteed money Mike Brown had ever given out prior to this was $31 million for Orlando Brown Jr. in March. Before that was $30M to Carson Palmer way back in 2005. The Bengals have been extremely stingy on guarantees. Mike Brown obviously had no choice in this case. But that’s like $250 million in guarantees just this year. They also have Chase coming due for a new deal. They're going to have to give him some hefty guaranteed money too. I believe that guaranteed money has to be put in the bank up front. I know Bengals have been spending more in recent years, but I’m still curious to see if this deal has any effect on the way they operate, at least in the next few years. Is Mike Brown going to be willing to keep spending like he has?
  9. Ballsy call by Campbell doing a fake punt from inside their own 20 on the 2nd drive of the game. Great drive by the lions offense after that fake punt.
  10. umm… so in other words it’s already against the law to drive around smoking weed and you’d face consequences if caught? 😂 any cannabis sold by a legal dispensary has to pass very strict tests for pesticides, mold, mildew, bugs, microorganisms, heavy metals, residual solvents, etc. https://cannabis.ny.gov/system/files/documents/2023/01/ocm-testing-limits.pdf thats one of the major advantages of legalized cannabis. Now, buying cheap bulk cannabis on the illicit market? Yes, there are absolutely growers who use poison on their plants to treat all sorts of things (powdery mildew, mite outbreaks, viruses, etc). And with cannabis being an accumulator plant (it can pull + store heavy metals from the soil. Hemp has been used around the globe for centuries to remediate soil) it’s important that you know the grower wasn’t using nutrients with heavy metals in them. All reasons why legalization is safer.
  11. Yep. I already have an antenna hooked up to my TVs as a backup so worst case I’ll switch to the over the air broadcast for the Bills game. OTA is usually as good of quality as the cable broadcasts. this only works if you are in market obviously.
  12. My cousin has been using a service called “eye stream TV” for at least 4-5 years now and he swears by it. He gets a crazy amount of channels including PPV, all the movie channels like HBO and Starz, every NFL game for every team, every NHL game, NBA, MLB, etc. and it’s only $43/month. They also offer a free 1 week trial so it’s an option if this dispute isn’t resolved in time. I don’t think they offer DVR or on demand though. You have to watch live. https://www.eyestreamtv.net/channels You need to have one of the supported devices to download their app. Like a fire stick 4k, Apple TV, Nvidia shield, chromecast, etc. I’ve used the service at his house a few times now and it works pretty well. Not my favorite user interface but for the price and what you get I could deal with it.
  13. I don’t see how this team is worse than last year. -WR looks better/deeper. -RB looks deeper (and hopefully better). -Tight End looks better/deeper. -O line looks improved, especially the guard positions. -Safety looks better with Hyde back, Poyer healthy and Rapp for depth -D line looks better/deeper with Floyd, Poona Ford -CB should be better too with a healthy Tre White and Benford playing well Where are they worse besides MLB and maybe backup QB? I’d say they look better at most positions compared to last year. They definitely face what could be a tough opponent week one. I think the Jets are going to be very hyped up and confident. I expect them to play with a lot of energy. But the Bills will hopefully be hyped up and confident too. I’m hoping the Jets will still be working out some kinks, being a new system and all. That also means the Bills won’t really have much tape though. Even if the Bills lose week one, or start out 2-2 with 2 division losses, it’s not the end of the world. It obviously wouldn’t be ideal to start out with 2 division losses. But it wouldn’t be insurmountable. And we’ve seen teams peak too early. We’ve also seen teams start out slow and win the super bowl. Ideally, we want the Bills playing their best football entering the playoffs. I’m not predicting anything. I’m hoping it will be a super bowl year, but who knows. I’m going to try my best to just enjoy the ride. It’s only a game. We should enjoy it. If watching/following the Bills makes us miserable, then what are we doing? Why follow at all? Life is too short for that. My perspective has really changed with recent events that have happened in my life. I’m sick of worrying about non-consequential things like sports. I’m going to try my best to just enjoy watching the games like I do for other teams.
  14. https://x.com/buffalobills/status/1696982031941468210?s=61&t=mvFwLU5P2NuqNnOmVpYtwg I believe Allen should get the gold captains patch this season since it’s his 5th year being voted captain.
  15. I don’t see how anyone could be upset about this. They added a starting caliber veteran MLB to the practice squad. I think most bills fans probably would’ve been ok adding Kirksey to the 53 man roster. Getting him on the practice squad (to start with anyway) is even better. At worst, it’s a good veteran addition to the locker room, a good insurance policy at MLB and better depth than AJ Klein.
  16. I swear if he ends up in the afc East on the jets or dolphins… 🤬
  17. I don’t think we should be knocking the chiefs draft record. The chiefs are always plugging young players into the lineup and getting contributions. Their 2022 draft class just won them a super bowl. Veach hit on almost every pick and got contributions from many 2022 drafted players right away. https://www.nfl.com/news/chiefs-super-bowl-success-started-with-historic-2022-draft-class I like Brandon Beane, but I’d swap him for Veach and the chiefs scouting staff in a heart beat.
  18. I don’t really see Gary Bettman allowing the Sabres to move. This area is consistently one of the strongest TV markets in the NHL. Bettman had an easy chance to move the Sabres when they declared bankruptcy and the league took over operations. But he fought to keep the team in Buffalo. Look at how he’s stuck with the Arizona Coyotes despite terrible attendance for years and major arena issues, etc. They are currently playing in a 2000 seat college arena. Bettman doesn’t move teams easily. Tom Golisano also apparently put some type of no-movement clause in the sale of the team. https://www.espn.com/nhl/news/story?id=6087856 He took less money for the Sabres to ensure they never moved. Now, if Terry sells I don’t know if that clause would carry over but if it doesn’t I would hope it would be something Terry would ensure, especially with still being the owner of the Bills and a very sentimental Sabres fan. This rumor about Pegula selling has been around for years. I’ve heard it would just be selling a minority stake in the team, but even that has been refuted. Im not sure how much stock I put into any of it anymore. I guess time will tell.
  19. The trade up for Lance has to be one of the worst in modern NFL history. They traded THREE 1sts and a 3rd for Lance, just to give up on him 2 seasons later after he played (parts of) 8 games for them. Two of the three 1sts were late picks but still… I am a bit surprised they are giving up on him before seeing Purdy start another season for them. They better hope he’s legit. I guess they feel like if he doesn’t work out they still have Darnold? Shanahan must be pretty convinced that Lance is never going to be able to excel in the 49ers system.

  21. Yikes. Offense looks bad. And the defense looked bad against the Steelers starters. Special teams not looking great either. Glad it’s only preseason, but it’s still not very inspiring.
  22. Yeah, that GoFundMe is just a joke. That’s why there’s no actual link to the GoFundMe. I’m guessing a fan just photoshopped a photo of Chris Jones onto a GoFundMe page and posted the picture of it as a joke. edit - https://www.ky3.com/2023/08/18/jones-shoots-down-fake-gofundme-campaign-holdout-continues/#:~:text=A fan posted a photoshopped,helps%2C” the tweet read. yep, that’s what happened.
  23. 😢 This one hurts. Wasn’t expecting to read that tonight. What a sad day for Buffalo sports. I didn’t know he was battling multi-organ failure for the last 2 years.
  24. You can buy just the Sunday ticket. https://tv.youtube.com/learn/nflsundayticket/
