    Yes, that appears to be true. He also was handed GM powers (final 53) when he first got there, and at that time was the third coach to have such powers (Belichick & Carroll being the other 2).

    Bubkis has familiarity in the system and all the intangibles in the world, but also a noodle arm, cannot not throw his receivers open, and does not pass the eye test.

    Always been a class act. Met him downtown once and he seemed like a super humble, down-to-earth guy.

    Eh. I mean, maybe it becomes somewhat of a story for what... 5 days at most? If the team is gathered and informed of the decision, then I do not see media speculation (which occurs every day) being such a negative. I do see the Chargers game-planning for Taylor and then having to adjust on the fly to Peterman being a significant positive.

    I get the OP's point. If possible, then why not use the Chargers' lack of information against them?

    Is it encouraging? Yes, because it shows this version of OBD will make tough decisions and go with it. If you want to get out of the forest, you have to start walking in one direction. Is this the right move? Dunno, haven't been at practice.

    Heard from a Lions fan that, while GRo was not amazing by any means this year, he was still serviceable once Decker went down. Probably only released because Decker is just about ready to return.

    As much as obtaining a franchise QB is paramount, a guy will struggle to be a franchise QB from the PT pool.
