I think they all want to win and they all want to play w guys they like but to a man every single NFL athlete cares predominantly about how much they earn, way above all else. And I think that's largely in their best interest because that's how their employer views them
I just don't see the downside I guess
I think it would be another mistake to spend another year hoping Davis becomes a reliable wideout and a rookie TE plus Dawson Knox can become catalysts for a SB run. Seems very unlikely imo
Are McCarthy and McDermott really so dissimilar to you
Like where do you have LaFleur, Vrabel, Shanahan etc, you think McDermott is so clearly better than these guys
I don't see how you could interpret the Allen years postseason results, which is basically how we judge HCs, as 'good'
Good would be winning or short of that at least playing in a Super Bowl
Reid/Mahomes and Taylor/Burrow who already once took them on and beat them for a SB berth
So if Allen>Burrow then Taylor >>>McDermott
He's not a bad coach, he's middling
Yes I think he's a little lower but I'd put him in that mid tier of coaches and you could say he's anywhere from 14-22 and I would probably agree w that
Well I can't put him above guys w a super bowl
And he's really only 13tt if you just put him at the top of the rest
People laugh at Vrabel but imo McDermott is just Vrabel w a Josh Allen
What's arguably more fascinating is how such an allegedly good coach (by this thread and comment) in McDermott can't sniff the big game w one of if not the best quarterback in the league
