  1. It has to be a mix. Longevity helps but if you are never one of the best that also has to hurt. The best way I have heard it phrased came from a baseball writer and HOF voter. Tony Mazz. I don’t have the quote but his line of thought was voters are already given all the best players and they all can’t make it in. He votes for the ones that he would have to include if he was writing a book chronicling the history of the game. I understand that’s still objective because of the level of detail each person would include but it’s a fair point and a solid starting ground.
  2. It’s hard to use Foster as an example of the Bills knowing how to evaluate WRs. They released him on Oct. 18. If Foster ends up being the real deal, the best I can say is that they got lucky that he didn’t get scooped up. He is so talented but they gave up on him in short time. It’s not like they had a lot of NFL quality WRs pushing him off the roster. Good on Foster for coming back the way he did, I just think it’s something that’s conveniently overlooked.
  3. Right. So not only do opposing coaches need to change their tendencies on the field they need to change their own personal behaviors. Simple solution: Have McD drink a bottle of tequila before opening kickoff. Get loose out there.
  4. If the Bills can draft the right big WR that would be a huge piece for Allen and his development. I’d love to see a guy with wheels and a huge catch radius.
  5. Zach Thomas 5 time first team all pro and he isn’t talked about for the HOF. Screw Edelman.
  6. Guilty, I can’t handle the Pats winning anymore. I guess I was hopeful that one of the up and coming young coaches would try and get creative with his game plan. Instead he acknowledged greatness and kissed the rings.
  7. Alex Jones? Isn’t that a conspiracy theorist? Is anyone saying there is a conspiracy? Just disappointed that such a highly regarded young coach took the chance to kiss the rings and not so much else. Lie? No. I’d prefer the guy leading the team could actually put on a game face and save his praises for after the game. Did you listen to the audio? He says it’s “unbelievable” how BB can change the identity of his team. At that point BB had to either think, is this guy pulling my chain or is he going to run the exact same offense he did all season? I hope he learns from it.
  8. Who said anything about praising player in the middle of the week? Who said anything about McVay being on the hot seat? McVay has been the NFL’s me poster boy for coaches. His game plan was embarrassing and getting caught on an open mic prior to the game basically showing his hand is a bad look. I think even he would admit that in hindsight. Certainly a learning experience.
  9. No. This thread is further proof that other coaches don’t even give it a fair shot when playing the Patriots. I’m trying to get a good link for the audio. 30 minutes prior to the start of the SB, McVay is out there telling the other coach how “unbelievable” he is for changing his identity. BB must have ***** himself, right there he had to have known McVay had nothing for him. Then McVay continued his praises calling him the best ever etc.
  10. I’m trying to get the link to the audio profootball has it up but I couldn’t get the link to post for some reason.
  11. Did anyone hear the audio? He ran into BB before the game and gushed over how good BB is and how well he changes from week to week etc. NFL films scrubbed the audio, they are playing it on the radio here. How embarrassing. Another coach kneeling down. Gross.
  12. Thanks. He is the guy I want most but I’d be ok with Butler as well.
  13. I read something yesterday that said Metcalf only ran three different routes in college. Is that true?
  14. Charlestown morons are the ones dishing it out, don’t know about the other ones. Great look for all of them.
  15. White isn’t the same after the injuries. No thanks.
  16. “Has good technique to get around players when he is pressed” “good route runner” basic straight line speed? He is 6’6, he doesn’t cut like AB. He wins when he is covered, with his long strides he has plenty of speed for house calls. His physicality is unquestioned. From everything I have seen and read I disagree with what you wrote. Where did you come up with him struggling against press? What games? I will look them up.
  17. Watch some of Butler if you haven’t. His skill set would be perfect for Allen. Huge catch radius, speed, tough after the catch. I was in love with Metcalf but a few months out I’m leaning towards Butler as WR1. He supposedly runs a sub 4.5 at 6’6 and 225.
  18. Mountain Lion vs. Bear
  19. What’s really nuts is a guy getting his material posted on NFL.com just did a 3 round mock and didn’t have Hakeem Butler getting selected.
  20. Is it the norm for a SOTU rebuttal?
  21. I hope he improves but as of now he is a QB who doesn’t make those around him any better. I don’t consider that good, but I respect your opinion. I love Breer, that’s what blows my mind about anyone acting surprised that Goff looked bad Sunday. He didn’t have much of a chance. I really expected McVay to adjust his offense and use the TEs heavily. Press Cooks, bracket Woods, that had to have been as expected for him. Disappointing game plan.
  22. Same stat line that he had against the Lions. I suppose they overmatched him too? Only difference I saw was that Gurley was still healthy in the DT game. I watched every game they have played for the past two seasons. He is an above average QB when things are going his way. Clean pocket etc. When he is getting hit he turns into a pumpkin, he can’t move well enough to avoid it and he doesn’t make a decision quick enough to protect himself while still making a play. Gurley is the engine of that offense, shame he wasn’t himself because I believe we would have seen a different result.
  23. Goff isn’t good when Gurley isn’t rolling over people. I don’t think McVay is either. The game plan was horrible. Van Noy and Hightower are both limited players who are better at coming forward than they are at moving laterally. They never took advantage of that. Bad gameplan, late with adjustments. They lost the game, Pats just showed up. Goff has a passing rating of 70 something for the past two months. No surprise, most of that time Gurley was out. Andy Reid gets a lot of flack for his playoff meltdowns but he was the only HC that gave the Pats a fair effort. If only he had Wade Phillips.
