This is a team that is superbowl-ready. They were a special teams gaffe and a winnable home game away from being in the superbowl. As is always the case, there will be a few tweaks in the offseason. But the core of the team is here. But, we're not at the beginning of a rebuild, or even midway through one. We're not searching for our QB. We not a bottom 5 defense that needs a complete overhaul. This is not the time to experiment with first-time coordinators. My hope is that if Dabol and/or Frazier move on, those positions are filled by proven coaches who've had success as coordinators. Most likely, former NFL head coaches who should have stayed coordinators. The one exception might be a rising star in the defensive coaching ranks that McDermott take under his wing.

The Bills allowed the fewest points-against in the entire NFL. They had 3rd highest ‘points for’. Yeah, probably a good time to get some position coach the opportunity move up and see if they can get the Bills to the promised land.

The sentiment from a lot of responders to this inquiry seems to be that McDermott is on the bubble. Y'all are delusional. After 17 years with no playoff appearances, the Bills have played in 7, winning 3, and just barely losing 2. Do you have any idea how difficult it is to get to a Superbowl, let alone win it? When's the last time past winning coaches Pete Carroll, Mike Tomlin, John Harbaugh, or Sean Payton got to the big game? How many teams haven't been to a conference final in several years? Dallas hasn't been in one since 1996. Miami hasn't won a conference title since 1985. Other than good coaching and fundamentals, so many things have to fall into place: player attrition, health/injury, and sometimes a little luck. As we know too well, one win or loss can be the difference between home or away. The first couple years the Bills were in rebuild mode - jettisoning overpaid and under-productive players and bringing in a new platoon, including a rookie QB in 2018. Because some of you expected the Bills to just waltz into the superbowl, you're disappointed or angered. Get over it. By any measure of NFL coaching, McDermott has been damn successful and I expect Sean and Josh will bring a championship to Buffalo before it's all over.

I think KC is superior to Cinci, but it’s entirely possible they could be the victims of a letdown after blowing their wad in the divisional round. The Bills are out. I’ve got no dog in the fight, but after enduring years of futility in Detroit, would be nice to see Stafford get a Championship.

I think a lot may depend on who the DC is going forward. If Frazier goes, McDermott could opt for a coordinator with a more aggressive approach with regard to the front 7. Whatever is decided, it’s a certainty that the weak run defense has to be addressed. Edmunds is a liability defending the run.

No, I didn't open the link. The knee-jerk reaction to fire someone is so unnecessary. There were 2 really good teams out there. One of them had to win and one had to lose. it's that simple. This is the same coaching staff and players (mostly) that won 24 regular season and 3 playoff games over the past 2 years. Not too long ago, some of us would have given a left nut for those results. The Bills were somewhat hamstrung by a record number of extreme-weather games that likely had an effect on the high-powered passing game that is the Bills' bread and butter. One more win from a regular season game and the divisional contest and probably the AFC Championship games go through Highmark Stadium. If that kickoff in the final seconds of overtime had been squibbed and subsequently returned to the Bills' 45, Mahomes would only need around 5 seconds and 20 yards to be in FG range. Different scenario, same results, and the same people now screaming for coaching changes would be all over them for not kicking into the end zone. I think the big mistake from our coaching staff (assumed) is that they played the final 13 seconds somehow forgetting the Chiefs still had timeouts. The middle of the field was an option that wouldn't have been there without the TOs. After numerous 7-9, 8-8 seasons, we're getting a little spoiled. We have the QB we dreamed of having during the drought. The future is bright. In the words of Tom Petty, the waiting is the hardest part.

It’s been over 30 years now, but I miss the mid-afternoon (eastern time zone) super bowl starts. They used to kickoff at 2:30 or 3pm Sunday night games with extended halftime shows go until almost 11pm and we still have to work in the morning. Lousy time for a party for us folks in the east. If it’s got to be a prime time game, I wish it could be Saturday, but I know that will never happen.

To your point, there was a play (can’t remember which one) that I really wanted to see the replay. But they already had all these graphics and stats cued up comparing past QBs or games. I don’t care! Can we focus on the game we’re watching?-please! I want to see the alignments and other pre-snap activity and too often, the broadcast is showing something else and only cuts to live action barely in time to see the ball snapped.

Maybe. But sometimes shyness or general discomfort in from of the cameras and press could easily be misconstrued as lacking intelligence. For whatever reason, the people who make personnel decisions have a lot of faith in him - at least that's the public face. How they handle future contract or trade offers will tell the true tale.

I don't know about his smarts or lack of. My presumption is based on his role as defensive QB. Maybe he's given that role because he's dead center in the defensive alignment and is in the best position to communicate assignments coming to him through the helmet radio.

What are you talking about? He made that one really nice hit and tackle. Extend him by all means. Even my wife, who has limited knowledge or the game, asked why # 49 looks like he's not running hard to the ball carrier. I'm usually in agreement with the Tasker & Co on the various WGR shows that discuss Bills' football, but they continue to praise the merits of Edmunds. IMO, he doesn't pass the eye test. He gets blocked out of plays, takes bad angles, and often looks like he's scared to put his shoulder down and make the hit. Opposing teams know they can run right at him and get positive yards. He is great at being near by when another Bills defender makes the tackle. More often that not he's standing right there or jumping on top of the pile. The argument is that his length clogs passing lanes. So what is he, a glorified DB? Hell, sign Manute Bol to make like a windmill. I've stated this before: His true value could be tested in the trade market (though his contract may prevent such a move). He was the 17th overall pick in 2018. He's still very young, but has 4 years of experience. Are there any teams that would trade a first round pick for Edmunds? Highly unlikely, but if offered, the Bills should jump on it before the potential trade partner has a chance to review all his game film. BTW - I believe Edmunds is smart and probably a great teammate. It's his toughness that appears to be lacking. On the plus side - there should be no doubt that the Bills got the best QB in the 2018 draft. Like any player, Josh has had a few off games, but he continues to get better and better. He's reading defenses like a vet should. He's seeing the whole field. His accuracy has improved 100%. He's become the undisputed leader of the team and the chemistry and friendships are reminiscent of the ones from 90's teams. Some of his stats have been skewed by the horrible weather conditions the Bills have endured in 2021. He's quickly become one of the elite QBs in the NFL and we should be so thankful he's on the Bills and under contract for several more years.

Yeah, even though income tax has already been collected from the earnings of the original buyer. After buying a ticket, he could then become a seller, trading the ticket for the same cost. In effect, he’d have no more money than he started with, no ticket, but would somehow pay tax twice on the same money. Hypothetically , a ticket could be sold and re-sold 10 times (or more) and Uncle Sam would have his hand out for a piece of each transaction. It’s like buying a car and there’s supposed to be sales tax for every transfer of ownership when funds are involved. I’ve never understood how this is fair. The secondary market is getting less attractive and riskier.

Not trying to break balls. I haven’t lived there in 35 years, so I don’t pay NY taxes. There’s a ‘think small’ mentality that’s pervasive among the simple hard-working blue collar folks who reside in places like Buffalo. They’re thrifty and value the dollar, so it’s not surprising someone would think about re-using materials. I’m not knocking it. It’s commendable. But do you think people like Jerry Jones ever think for a second about preserving something from an out of date facility? When they calculate costs and consider contractor bids, no one is thinking, ‘gee, couldn’t we save a few hundred thousand by taking something from the old place’. Go Bills!!

To you and me, 3 million is a nice chunk of change. For the high rollers like the Pegulas, 3 million is a drop of rain in the ocean. They waste more than that in dead cap money in any given year. If they get 4-5 years out of that 3 mil video gear, they’re fine with it. They got their use out of it. It’s a write-off! Wait until 2027 and go dumpster diving at One Bills Drive if you’re worried about wasting the equipment.

This sounds so Buffalo. Let’s be thrifty and repurpose our old crap!! It still has a few good years. when they build a new stadium, they’re not going to re-use old video screens and piss troughs from Rich Stadium days. anything that can be re-used will likely be auctioned off or donated for future use by a small college or high school. And they’ll probably have to uninstall, transport, and re-install at their own expense before the stadium is imploded.
