But his splits against the blitz make it unadvisable. We blitzed once in the reg season game last year which was the more competitive of the two games. Forcing them to methodically move the ball has caused them to be impatient this year and has really been the only thing to stop their offense this year. While it stinks for the fan it seems the right defensive strategy.

Yup. But could start spread and motion to a bunch set. The motion can make pre snap adjustments harder but considering the noise we’ll probably see less of that anyway

i dont remember how much we stacked receivers last year, but bunch sets would seem to help get more free releases. Seems we like to really spread folks out usually so maybe a bunch could give Diggs and co. some room to run.

Another really interesting play (would like to see Baldy or @GunnerBill if agree) is this anticipation throw from Josh. In real time i thought it was an under throw like Erik, but the break down helped give perspective. Really liked them pointing out Sanders and Beasley giving Josh props on the play too

Thanks OP. Tangential but peeps seem to think protection is a guarantee but there is a window in which any player can be signed. Teams can designate four players every week that are protected from being signed by other teams. ? That doesnt help. You think Detroit wants to be a passing team? You would think with the number of pass attempts from Goff (5th) the would want to be. But then you look at their weapons and this stat (they are 30th) and you see they want to run the ball. They have to pass cause they are behind so much which is why pass attempts is not a good stat for that.

Im just confused where you get ultra talented from? I dont think hes in football shape. I think hes just as likely to make a game breaking fumble as he is to make a game making TD catch.

Anything to get better running efficiency against light boxes. Probably a lot more useful now that teams aren’t blitzing at a 33% clip.

It was okay on the field. Filling the wrong gaps in run fits. Cover 1 preview with rivers from football outsiders. So not just a fan either.

Sure thats fair. This place can be a bit crazy so it may have gotten under his skin during that particular interaction (don't want to speak for them, nor do I have any perspective on the situation youre talking about). But they seem to be able to have football discussion with many great content creators (dont know how they are on the twitter sphere) which is why the description of the situation seemed odd to me. I would also note that I have appreciated your thoughts over the years and you are one of the reason I actually come back to this board. So thank you for what you do.

Probably stopped posting cause they are so busy. They have done very well. If peeps wanna say its homerism, then they got into the biz with homerism at the right time. I thought they were critical of Josh in their film analysis while pointing out some of his good stuff. Overall, I think cover 1 has been great and I enjoy their content. Maybe they seem like homers cause this board is hilariously pessimistic (see threads/posts on Allen regression, allen cant play in wind, allen cant play in front of crowds, tremaine edmunds is bad at MLB). If youre gonna deal with that stuff might as well just do it on twitter where its more visible. They have been highly regarded by the other thoughtful content creators like Joe Marino and Bruce Nolan. I dont think either of those guys are homers, and they seem to be able to have discussions/disagreements. They are able to get guests from other teams every week, and I dont think they could do that if were the homers that didnt understand football.

They also have a very good perspective particularly in their roles. Erik breaks down tape at a level similar to Baldy (better than other content creators such as Jackson Krueger) and Gregg has gotten several contracts dead on. I don’t think teams subscribe for the grades. I think they subscribe for easy access to the advanced stats like formations, blitz %, and under pressure splits. These are not subjective like the grades. This is specifically why cover 1 subscribed to them

Joe Marino agrees that hes the best player for their defense iirc. was limited today so probably ok to play.

This year I think they are doing less Allen film and adding other players. They did offense and defense specific ones for Miami. Still covered Josh, but had me excited for WFT because the offense was 4/4 in the red zone against Fins. Allen struggled in the middle of the field but got the job done when its most important.

Didnt they say red zone snaps? So thats just scoring on the first play every time? 50 redzone trips doesnt make sense to me, but the also those numbers you gave for seattle dont make a ton of sense either (got into FG range after coming up short on 3rd down?)

No anthony has been trying to make it happen all offseason. I'm on board as a way to make him part of our team and not just a journey man. (think its sands but it sorta fades at the end.) 12 pressures is a lot. Allen had elite pocket mobility this week which prevented sacks. Allen was hitting off platform throws like last year too.

Counter point, they are turning after a 1st round QB and a lot of UFA spending. Not unfair of them to expect better results than last year. But I think we agree this couldnt happen to a better fan base.
