  1. Here is Knox as the 3rd best nfl TE. https://www.nfl.com/news/top-10-tight-ends-of-the-2021-nfl-season-mark-andrews-travis-kelce-rolling "he breakout tight end of the year has arrived as the bronze medal winner! Knox has been excellent for Buffalo this season, leading all tight ends with five touchdown catches and currently ranking second in yards per reception (13.6). Knox's emergence hasn't come by coincidence, as coordinator Brian Daboll has been capitalizing on his versatility by aligning him in the slot. And Knox has produced, leading tight ends in yards per target (14.5) and yards per reception (20) from that spot. Those marks are the best for any tight end with a minimum of 10 slot targets in any season going back to 2018. Knox's athleticism was on full display on a touchdown run that ended up being wiped out by a holding call in Buffalo's loss to Tennessee on Monday Night Football, but it's clear the Bills haven't avoided utilizing him in a variety of scenarios to put points on the board. With only 27 targets, Knox is scoring nearly once every five receptions. That's some excellent efficiency from a guy most folks didn't know by name prior to 2021. He'll surely be missed for however long he's out with a broken hand."--------------well he is back from that broken hand. Entering the season he wasn't ranked by PFF https://www.pff.com/news/nfl-pff-tight-end-rankings-2021-nfl-season Fantacy football did not have him ranked in their pre season drafts. 2. Marquan McCall, NT, Kentucky Height: 6-3. Weight: 358. Projected 40 Time: 5.35. Projected Round (2022): 5-7. ......................... immoveable. run stopper, not a pass rusher..... late round
  3. Why draft a WR? McKenszie was 4th to 6th on the depth chart. Beasley and Davis and Hodgkins are still around. Harris and Pittsburg 2nd,,,,,,,,,,,,for the Bills 1st in 2022?
  4. There is another route to improve the offensive line. We have Brown (#311), Dawkins (#320) and Williams(#330) as our top 3 offensive tackles. Drafting a new offensive tackle with our 1st round pick, would allow one of these to kick inside and upgrade two positions.
  5. They could have had Dobbins instead of Espensea, and Creed Humprey instead of Basham. They were my picks at the time.
  6. The league has changed. A running QB can be contained by 5 D-linemen and blitzes to reduce his running lanes and require quick decisions. He is going to get hit more and more and might only have 3-4 more years effective in the league. He is a poor passer.
  7. I was a grad student at UB from '69 to '71? and my girlfriend and first wife was Josephine who worked as a secretary and typist at Aetna Insurance downtown. Harry Jacobs also worked there part time during the summer, selling life insurance (players had to moonlight back then). The girls at Aetna, were all a gagga about him being there. I still have a 8x10 signed glossy player photo of him that she got. He was a nice guy.
  8. Teams that are out of the playoff want to try out their rookie/young QB for the rest of the season, in order to see if they need to draft the future QB in the next draft.
  9. Well, I think that it is as simple as the following. The Bills DO NOT have a counter against two deep safeties and a stout pass rush. (by 4 with a good defensive line or by sending a 5th rusher, who can come from any direction). The usual counter is to use a running back to rush into the space where that 5th pass rusher or missing safety is NOT. You need an O-line who can hold a block or screen off the DL AND a running back who can burst through the line with speed and get past the remaining LB. We don't have that, so they can get in Allen's face quickly and take away the short pass with the speed rush and the long pass by the extra DB. We do not have the players for the best response to that style of defense.
  10. We are short on big beefy defensive tackles. Star has been a no-show on several games where we needed him. Butler is not a very good player. Phillips is playing okay, but is not the immovable rock in the middle of the d-line. The rest (including Oliver) are lighter, penetrating "speedy" DT's to chase down mobile QBs. ...and the evil genus is somehow able to collect a bunch of specialty players, run them in and out of a game, and get a result like they have an all pro RB.
  11. it is actually quite simple and understandable. The Bills figured that they had to go through KC and the Ravens to get to the SB. Those teams are based on running QB's and high scoring offenses that use run/pass options and have to be outscored. So they drafted and built the Bills to use Allen's passing and scrambling on offense. They can score a lot of points to outscore those teams. Not a lot of hat-on-hat push at the line of scrimmage and combination/pulling blocks and 7 yard runs from good solid, fast running backs. No need to force the opponent to defend against 40 yards from a running back, if the passing game works. So they drafted and built the Bills defense to have a lot of light, range linebackers for pass defense and a lot of light pass rushers who could run down the scrambling/runnng mobile QB. Fast light DB's can keep up with freelancing WR and not be outrun by speedy QB'ss. We drafted a bunch of speedly DE's to track down Mahones and not to outmuscle 330 pound OLmen. What has happened is this strategy is NOT the one to use now, because the league has figured out the counter to this approach. Several teams (NE, Colts, Titans ...) have brought back the good old fashioned strong running games, that the Bills defense is weak against. Teams are going back to the 1940, 1950 1960 5 man defensive lines (you can get there by blitzing to harrass the medium/long passing game as well as affording gap coverage. We went light on road grader offensive linemen and break-away running backs. Opps !!!
  12. Maybe you are a city boy and haven't had to do the animal chores in the winter outside. Sorry, working outside in the cold just sucks energy out of you and gets you tired fast.
  13. He is a run stuffing 4-3 MLB. A lot of offensives are spread formation passing. There Edmunds, with his speed and height and short passing zone ability hinders them in the short passing zones. A few teams are built against the normal offensive passing strategy and can do good by having a favorable mismatch against defensives built with personel who are pass defenders. Klein is good at plugging gaps in the defensive line and we should and do trott him out against these teams. Sometimes you need a dump truck and sometimes you need a sports car. Another aspect is that we have a number of tall defnesive ends who can restrict passing lanes when they put their hands up. This provides some added pass defense and there is less pressure on MLB Klein to play pass defense.
  14. But then we have to drop somebody from the 40 man roster and keep the PS pickup there. IF we think that the worse guy on our 40 man roster is better or more useful than anybody on all the NFL practice squads, then we become worse if we pouched somebody.
  15. Have you noticed that only one of our regular WR was drafted by us? College WR play most of their games against DB who will never sniff a NFL roster AND play relatively simple schemes. Being able to learn "smarts' is what makes a pro receiver.
  16. Isn;t it nice that teams are raiding our PS for players rather than the other way around !!!! Another good thing is that if they jests have to drop him from the roster, he can come back immediately to our PS?
  17. It looks like there are a good number of offensive guards ranked in the 2-3 rounds for next year. The first round pick might go for a RB. After that I want one of these OG. 1. Kenyon Green, G, Texas A&M Height: 6-4. Weight: 325 .Projected 40 Time: 5.4. Projected Round (2022): 1-2. 2. Chasen Hines, G, LSU Height: 6-3. Weight: 323. Projected 40 Time: 5.2. Projected Round (2022): 2-3. 3. Ed Ingram, G, LSU Height: 6-3. Weight: 310. Projected 40 Time: 5.25. Projected Round (2022): 2-3. 4. Jaxon Kirkland, G, Washington Height: 6-6. Weight: 318. Projected 40 Time: 5.25. Projected Round (2022): 2-3 5. Zion Johnson, G, Boston College Height: 6-2. Weight: 315. Projected 40 Time: 5.3. Projected Round (2022): 2-3. 6. Jamaree Salyer*, G, Georgia Height: 6-3. Weight: 340. Projected 40 Time: 5.5. Projected Round (2022): 2-4. https://www.walterfootball.com/draft2022OG.php .... Our 2nd round pick is going to be close to a 3rd round pick, so we might be picking from the lower 3 of this list. I also don't like it when two players from similar positions are both ranked highly- It often is that the sum of those parts makes each one look better. (remember Rudd and Nelson, drafter 1,2 in 1975?!). For the 1st round I would look for a DT if Star retires, or a CB or superios RB (Spiller).

This was the wrong draft pick. I said so at the time. The defenses KNOW that the can ignore our running backs. The scarcely defend against them and they still get only 50 or so yards a game. NO CHUNK plays. Also, we have 3 of the 6 blockers on the o-line (1 OG, 1 OT, 1 TE) out with injures. We went light on the o-line to beef up the pass rush to counter mobile QB's. 20. You have no place in managing things. Imagine this. Feliciano is on IR. Concusion-Morse is the starting center. Bates is playing guard and sprains his ankle. You are one head-slap from having McKensie or Ferguson or Obada snapping the ball. Get a clue.
  21. Chuck and duck Other teams have come to understand that we don't have a home run guy at running back. They can give up the reliable 0-4 yard run and NOT have to worry about the 30-50 yard chunk play from the RB. So we can (if Josh would allow) do a lot of 5 yard come-back, no JAG passes. We GIVE UP having a fast RB, headed down field 5 yard behind the line of scrimmage. That is what the other teams do not have to game plan against.
