I remember having a friend from the wrong side of the tracks in college. We called him "durão" and some thought him a wimp because he never got into any fights. If I still had a picture of him, you would realize why he didn't get into any fights. People found it easier to to elsewhere for that sort of things. (downneck newark) Edmunds covers the center well, he covers holes well and is long enough and mobile enough to make it hard to plan successful passes over the LB in the middle of the field. That steers the opponent's play book into other approaches, and cuts down their options and allows our other players to "cheat" and cover other attacks better. I really can not understand these posters di;ssing Edmunds. "Currently, players are voted into the Pro Bowl by the coaches, the players themselves, and the fans." . The other team's coaches are to be trusted. The players (31/32 from other teams) are to be trusted. Buffalo is a smaller city and has fewer people to vote for a homer. Maybe that is a truer evaluation of him? -

Yes this is very early, but there have been surprises about the strengths of many teams so for this season. Here is how one SWAG on the power rankings of our opponents goes. An "X" is for a game yet to be played, An "L" is a game already lost. A "W" is a game already won. ...X... X.................... If we win one of the two top team games (1-1) ,,, go 50:50 on teams in the top half of the league(3-3-) ... and beat all the bottom half teams,,(8-0), then we go 13-4. Our DE's are Addison & Hughes ......................... Both of these fellows will not be on the team next year (one might be that is) and one might be traded during this season if the rookies develop . Epnesea & Rosseau.........................These are the starting defensive ends by the second half of this season and will be next year's starters Basham & Obada(resign)................These are next year's rotational defensive ends. They will be used on occasion as interior D-linemen on passing downs against mobile QB's Brian Cox & Mike Love & XXX........These are development prospects that might bounce up from the practice squad to cover for injuries. We will probably go with 5 roster DE's next year. They will not keep expensive veterans because $$ will be need to keep other core players and for upgrades at CB, OL and LB.

It looks like the stealers are going all out to win this year before Rapinberger goes out to pasture. After this and next year, they will tank, get a QB and rebuild. -

Great Post ^. Blocking is the key. On any situation where Hollister is there mostly to catch a pass, I would rather have Kumero or Davis split out wide and be playing against the other teams 4th or 5th defensive back or a LB. Sweeney is for goal line situations instead of an additional OT for blocking. The defense has to cover him, he holds the ball and is as fast as anyone to run 5 yards and turn around to catch a quick pass. Those sort of plays are not the major factor in the offense, but they score points and make the defense have to cover the TE for a short pass. Invaluable as the edge rusher/blitzer can not blow by the TE because Allen is good enough to snap a quick pass for the TD. -

Kumerow for green bays 5th round pick and their QB is giddy and happy. All the discord is ended at a cheap price. Kumerow flies to GB and slips coming out of the terminal, tearning his ACL. -

Carloina's 6th is probably the 186th player taken. They might be picking #10. So using ( http://www.tankathon.com/nfl/full_draft ) if the Bills are drafting @ #30. then that pick would enable them to move up the following ways in the draft. round 1 move player 30 to player 29 +1 spot round 2 move up playre 62 to player 59 +3 spots round 3 move up 94 to 88 +6 spots round 4 move up 126 to 110 +16 spots round 5 move up 158 to 121 +37 spots round 6 move up 190 to 100 +90 spots IF there is a guy we really want who is out of the top 100 spots, this pick will make it quite easy to get him.

Another possibility is that the Bills trade Addison for a very good young CB. OR, the Bills trade him to some team what is early on the waiver wire list for a good young CB. (that team gets the first/early pick on players released on waivers, picks the CB, and we trade Addison for the young CB.) This method would cut down the logjam at DE and give us a player now with some experience to provide depth.

YeaBut...... The top 3 or 4 WR can be put on IR for a few games near the end of the year to recover all their boo boos. We have quality depth and if you keep them on the roster they can win you games near the end of the season that help get a bye or homefield games. -
A 3rd or 4th round comp pick next year would be wonderful but I don't see it happening. Getting a comp pick depends upon the application of a NFL secret formula, which balances the number and quality of free agents moving ONTO and FROM a team. We are in a poor position there. The Bills are a top team with a good karma right now. Free agents like to to go a winning team for a lot of reasons. They get a chance at the post season and more money. They get a chance at the post season and bragging rights for life. They get a better resume with this on their record. They look better to teams for future moves because they are surrounded by better players. They have a better idea how they will fit into a stable team situation. So the Bills can get a lot of quality free agents to come to Buffalo and have a lot of quality players and starters wanting to stay with the team. (Just look at how many potential FA's resigned with Buffalo on one year deals!) We pick up more FA than we lose. We have to release a lot of quality players as they get pushed out- but released players are not part of that draft pick compensation game. Another factor is from the "waiver wire" pickups, during they year and during the roster cut-down events. We are way at the bottom of that list, so any gem that other teams have to unload, get picked over by 29 other teams. (after the first 3 games in 2022, it is by current W/L record). We are unlikely to be able to use this method very well for that reason- so there is more going to happen from picking up top notch FA's. It would be nice, but I don't think we should count on getting anything from losing Trubisky as a valuable FA next year.
