  1. We seem focused on the least improved area on the team. It's a much better team in Buffalo now than before Marrone arrived. I would prefer if we took that and do what Fred Jackson says the players are doing, "Moving on". I don't like how he left but he did and I would rather energy and focus be spent on that the team needs to work on (QB, Offense, HC, etc). That's a lot more interesting that quantifying just how big a douche Marrone is.
  2. I can never follow the logic of Whaley missing on the Marrone hire. Whaley didn't have the job yet and frankly Marrone did a nice job for the Bills before he just quit on the team. On your grooming EJ comments you have to put some of the responsibility on the player. EJ was a reach at the 16th pick. He was also put into action because of injuries to other players so the grooming plans kinda went out the window. The question is whether EJ is a guy that can be groomed into a solid starter. Finally Shananan really is not a great coach. Having Elway and TD is a pretty good advantage to have as a coach. If you recall that after the SBs Pat Bowlen announced that Mike Shananan had the job for life. Turns out that was only the case if he could win without Elway and TD. DC was a disaster as you pointed out so I don't know why we'd look at him when our team is on the rise but is lacking the answer at QB and could easily slip back to our non winning ways.
  3. It's tough but I think you are right about Spiller. We need to keep the D as intact as possible and adress the O-Line and QB situations. I don't think that we have the luxury of keeping Spiller, but I'll have mixed feelings watching all that potential leave the organization.
  4. I agree that Atlanta will be first and Rex is probably their guy. Marrone doesn't fit the personality of coaches that they've hired.
  5. I have to imagine that the 49ers would have concerns on how badly things ended up with RG3 & Shanahan. Would they bring in Shananan after the year Kaepernick just had? Is he the guy who can get him back on track?
  6. Too much drama and chatter. He's funny and has great pressers but honestly it's the 3 hours on Sunday that I'm worried about with him. Look at all the coaches who have won the superbowl in the last 10 years. Stand up is not one of their traits.
  7. OK Aaron Rodgers, which is it Marrone or the lack of a QB? I'm not a fan of how Marrone left the organization, but I believe he did a good job when he was here. The team is in a much better place than when he joined though I have concerns are the amount of doubt and rumor that's currently exists. Is there a football czar in the future? What does that mean for RB and DW? Does this lack of clear future strategy make attracting the best coaching talent harder? Looking from the outside you have to ask why are people like Orton and Marrone leaving and Polian not wanting to sign on. Chan Gailey wanted to be here. I want a coach that continues to improves the organization
  8. A better question is how do you feel if you are Kyle Williams. You've battled hard as a Bill and when the team is getting so close the whole thing starts to implode.
  9. We got 9 wins. With the talent we have specifically on defense he'd win playoff games
  10. Andy makes the playoffs. The Bengals team was seriously depleted yesterday so you can't put it all on him. I remember Sanchez from the Jets. The playoff years there was so much talent around him that hid his issues. What happened in the years of the butt fumble are a more accurate picture of the player.
  11. They do not have our defense. Dalton is not the guy you would pick if you could have Luck or Rodgers but he is a huge upgrade on what we have. I do not see the Bengals replacing him. They've experienced the post Palmer years looking for the next guy, there's no way they make the move without having the replacement in hand.
  12. Amen. There are way too may GMs on this board who's only qualifications are that they've over a 1000 posts on these boards. Orton had to go and now that he's retiring it's the end of the world!!! Please can we stop the madness. Jeez, enough already.
  13. It is disturbing to me as a Bills fan that a vocal portion of the fan base are supportive of shakeups and house clearing after our first winning season in 1.5 decades. I just listened to the press conference on WGR and the comments afterwards were that this team was at least 50% better than last years team, BUT they don't like Marrone coz is not good with words. Personally I could not care how entertaining the press conferences are as I only care about the games. I loved that we got a lot tougher this year (without getting dirty like Detroit) and took games to people on a physical level. This team under Whaley and Marrone will continue to improve. I cannot wait to see what they do at QB and OL. I enjoyed this season like I have not enjoy others in recent years. Why is there even conversation about blowing this up the day after our first ever win in Foxboro. Wait till next year when the experts are picking winners and losers before the season. Those games against Buffalo wont be gimmes any longer.
  14. Bradford is good but its hard to overlook the health issues that he's has had since his college days. I think that this team needs a more viable option than Matt Flynn. I don't see him as a true starter over a season. You may get some good games out of him but you'll get some real bad ones too. I'd rather see a Hoyer come in as at least the film on him is current. There are some very good guys passed around. Garcia, Gannon etc come to mind. There's been several HOF'ers like Montana, Young and Moon. It happens, the key is to get the most out of the thread that's left on the tires.
  15. NFL.com has a great playoff simulator. For some reason week 16 isn't working right now but it normally works great. It;s lets you play out all the win/loss scenarios and see who gets in. http://www.nfl.com/playoffs/playoff-picture/predictor
  16. And the Bills never had a "Non-Failing" season. Not sure why Dorkington even bothers watching football.
  17. I agree, next year is critical. I hate to say it but accurate and timely assessment of EJ's potential will be required. The offense will somehow need to find a higher gear for next year. It'll take more than pulling a guy off the couch at the last moment to make that happen. I have faith in Whaley though and his ability to make things happen and willingness to take chances.
  18. We've been demanding excellence for 14 years. Remember the whole Flutie/Johnson debate and the downwards spiral that created. There is something to retaining talent and building on success. We've sent too many people away from One Bills Drive. From Polian and Butler and replaced them with lesser talent like Donahue. We have a coach and GM that have me excited about the future. We are in a tough division - Patriots twice a year, it's harder to make the playoffs in the AFC East than any other division in football. We are in contention going into week 16!! Imagine if Bryce Brown hadn't fumbled going into the endzone. All I'm saying is look how far this team has come, especially from week 1 to week 16. The Bills are in great shape if we can retain and build on the talent and successes.
  19. Neither has proven that they are the solution. Unless EJ progresses this off season then this type of chatter will unfortunately continue. My hope is that we won't be pulling someone off the couch as our safety net next year like we had to do this year.
  20. I totally agree. How can you hold Whaley and Marrone accountable for what happened before their time. Flip flopping has turned the Raiders into a bottom dweller. Remember this is a team that the best winning % in pro sports for from the 60's to the early 90's. Give these guy 2 more years and the Bills will be a top tier team.
  21. This has got to be the silliest post I've ever seen on this board. I'm sitting here in Atlanta on December 21st waiting for a meaningful Bills game to start and you think the Head Coach has nothing to do with it. Try watching the vids of post game and locker room interviews. There is passion there. The players have "give a $#1Tability" which was gone for over a decade. I'm enjoying the heck out of this season and watching the progress the team is making. There's a lot of guys, and Marrone is one of them, who are working their butts off to give us something to celebrate. Your comment is not helping.
  22. Very good news indeed. Spiller with fresh legs should concern any defense.
