He's played his entire career in the pass happy quarterback friendly era though. Had guys like Brees, Brady and Peyton had their careers start in '07 instead of '98-2001 their averages would be much higher. And for all his greatness he only has one Conference Title. The only thing he has going for him over others is efficiency. He's also too injury prone compared to the other three I mentioned. I'd but Brees, Brady and Peyton ahead of Rodgers which means he is at best 4th in the more modern era of QBs.

NFL HoF thinking about enshrining 20 members
Sammy Watkins' Rib replied to Buffalo716's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
How do you explain a guy like Jerome Bettis? Or in the future, Eli Manning, Matt Ryan? Phillip Rivers might get in too and I'm borderline on him being a HOFer. All these guys will get in if we say there is no limit on the number of guys that can make it. -
Your Top 5 games

Next game I attend will probably be the Vegas game since I'm only about a four hour drive from the stadium. -
Your Top 5 games

Unfortunately we are 1-6 in games I have attended. All during the drought era. I wouldn't say any of them were good games including the lone win @ Carolina in '09. All were road games except for the '07 season opener against Denver, the Kevin Everett game. That was probably the most entertaining game from start to finish with a 20 yard Beast Mode TD run, Roscoe Parrish punt return TD and the dramatics of Jason Elam running on the field to kick the game winner with no timeouts and the clock ticking down. Really sucked the life out of the stadium. It's hard to go to road games and expect wins or good football when you are a perennial 6-10/7-9 team every year. -
Josh Allen Interceptions

Wow. Yeah I would not have expected that to be the case. -
Yes. Eli only really stepped his game up in the second super bowl run but it still wasn't to the level Flacco did. Plus, Flacco played with an aging Baltimore defense that gave up more than 30 points twice in the playoffs that year. Flacco had to step up. The Giants defense on the other hand did not give up over 20 point in any of the 8 post season games in those two Super Bowl runs and they gave up 17 points or less in 6 of the 8 games.

Is Donovan McNabb Hall of Fame Worthy?
Sammy Watkins' Rib replied to Mike in Horseheads's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree. He is very close but ultimately you got to say no. He's literally missing like one additional footnote in his resume like one more super bowl appearance or one more season with 3500 yards and 90 QB Rating or a league MVP season. But yeah, if you open it up for McNabb then guys like Romo, Stafford and even Bledsoe will come calling. -
Josh Allen Interceptions

I think Josh hits 58% completion percentage this year which will work for us. He is already one of the greatest rushing QB's the NFL has ever seen so with that kind of ability in the ground game we can win a lot of games with him completing around 58% of his passes. -

I really, really, really don't want Eli in the HOF. That said, the voters are totally going to fall for his last name. The perfect comparison would be Joe Flacco if Flacco were to go on another epic Super Bowl run and win a second one with the Broncos. It would be a great story but he would still have no chance at the HOF. Eli is very similar to Flacco IMO but because of his name and perhaps city he plays for he is going to undeservedly get in. -

Agreed. Reid is underrated as both a coach and GM. IMO, he is a HOF coach and that is saying something considering he's only won one conference title game. And Smith at least played at a high level under two different coaches and teams in Harbough and Reid. -

Happy 36th birthday to Frank Gore!
Sammy Watkins' Rib replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Come on Gungy. Don't embarrass yourself. Those numbers are just "fun facts" about Gore. Yes, they don't mean much, but they help to contribute to over 18,000 yard from scrimmage. Something only four other HOFers have achieved. Jerome Bettis got a gold jacket for longevity and his numbers were crap compared to Gore. -
Zay's trade value IMO is minimal. Even if Zay hasn't clearly separated himself by the end of August I still think he sticks on the roster. He's worth more to the Bills gambling on him that he will produce during the season then trading him for a 5th round pick if that. I will be completely shocked if Zay is not on the roster week 1.

Only thing I don't like is he is supposedly not much of a receiving threat. -
We were 30th in both points and yards last year. If we don't improve to the mid to low 20's at a minimum then i will be disappointed. I'm not predicting a top 16 offense but it could happen. When you have a second year QB it is all about that QB's personal development and improvement. We could easily be a 26th ranked offense next year but if Allen personally breaks out into the player we think he can be then it has been a positive season.

OP is seriously forgetting how bad the running game was last year. I love what we have done to fix this. We addressed the line in Free Agency and with our second round pick. And just in-case the problem was old as dirt running back's we also took fresh legs with our 3rd pick. McCoy and Ivory ran for 3.2 and 3.3 ypc respectively. And with Allen's big arm I doubt those low ypc were due to teams overloading the box on us. There was just nowhere to run.

Hmm. On paper it is still a huge improvement from what we went into the season with last year. The focus this off-season was improving the o-line. They've nailed that. The running game was absolutely non-existent last year due to a bad o-line. And I'm sure it didn't help Allen much either. Fixing the line will have a bigger effect than drafting a receiver early. We made some moves at TE, which was needed. I don't expect these pick ups at TE to light up the world but I also don't expect a drop off from last years squad. We know Beasley can catch the ball. That's worth an A grade by itself. John Brown, likely better than whoever our 4th WR was last year.

And straight 40 times don't necessarily tell us how well of a runner they will be. Josh's time was almost a .10 slower but he is far more mobile on the field then guys like Watson and Turbitzky with faster times. Other factors contribute to being a good running QB, vision, timing, agility, size etc.
