  1. I remember the year we got Pong, and it was the coolest thing in the world! I also remember a hockey stick behind the tree somewhere most years, an occasional bike and always clothes. It’s funny that nothing really stands out despite my parents going all out for Christmas. Maybe because of this, one year my sister and her family skipped all gifts for Christmas, birthdays, anniversaries, etc. They took all the money they saved and paid for about half of what it cost them to go to Paris for Christmas. It didn’t pay for the whole trip, but it was a good chunk, especially because that’s not ideal weather so less expensive. They wouldn’t remember the ugly sweater they got, but they all remember Paris!
  2. I would be willing to volunteer my services on this decision because I know absolutely nothing, but I’m afraid that would actually help. .
  3. I don’t know who most of these names are in this thread, but I’m a big fan of your three choices.
  4. I’m not really a huge fan of museums or cathedrals, but Sagrada Familia in Barcelona is a stunning cathedral. The stained glass gives you cool blues and greens in the morning sun, and reds and oranges at sunset. It feels like you can reach out and touch the light. It’s very hard to describe. I found it to be more impressive than the Sistine Chapel. As for museums, I preferred the d’Orsay in Paris over the Louvre. The art is just more relatable and basically the art chapter that came after the stuff in the Louvre. I was surprised to learn that the Mona Lisa was actually stolen long ago. It was felt that because it was relatively small and of a woman it was less important and might not be noticed or be a big deal. We took our grandson to the Museum of Natural History in NYC a couple summers ago. It was cool to see the museum again, and even better to see it with a wide eyed 9 year old boy.
  5. No, but you might go to every other week on the housekeepers and start cutting your own grass. Maybe vacation at a state park rather than a Disney property. Congratulations, you completely missed the entire point. It’s all relative.
  6. I go to Whole Foods on Tuesday to pick up a lot of stuff, including full meal options for our DIL who is vegetarian. It’s about food, but it’s really about family and friends.
  7. I understand. There is no emoji that respects that properly.
  8. Maybe someone else puts their plans for a 32’ Boston Whaler on hold. It’s all relative.
  9. You just should have gotten an Uber. Problem solved. 🤷‍♂️
  10. Early in our marriage this was part of our ritual on Thursday Taco Nights. Great show. Great times.
  11. That seems pretty simple to me. The people who say it is for maintaining their lifestyle come off as simple as well.
  12. When I met my wife she drove a powder blue Ford Pinto with no A/C (but it did have a sunroof to speed up the cooking process) and a stick shift. Her families home was in a rolling, winding hilly area. With stop signs. It was much easier to do what they call the “Carolina Roll” thru stop signs. She had so many points she had to take driving classes to keep her license! To this day she will kid at a stop sign and as soon as we come to a complete stop she says “Stop. S-T-O-P. Stop.” 😂
  13. Either way, they are going to talk about them. They’ll talk about them for being good, and they’ll talk about them for being bad. They just keep talking about them……..
  14. I had a tennis buddy named Mel, and he owned Mel’s House of Maps. That’s right, he sold maps to people retail and made a living doing it. I’d love to see a kid today even fold a map! Right after we give them a rotary phone to use! 😂 P.S. - This was in the mid to late 90’s, not the 1800’s. It wasn’t THAT long ago.
  15. I will also beg them to hire Rex if it will help.
  16. Our current head count is expected to be 14-16, which is well down from years past. My sister and a family we have literally spent the last 25+ Thanksgivings with both asked what they could bring. We said nobody on earth knows better than you people what we have on the Thanksgiving table. Bring something else that you’d like. I’m curious.
  17. When we drafted him I went for his highlight reel. The running was obviously impressive (it IS highlights), but what stood out to me most was there was an entire section of him in pass protection. He was VERY willing and effective, and it wasn’t just a few plays.
  18. Beane is also the guy creating this future cap mess. How much longer can we allow this???
  19. Has anyone suggested the Condiment Ceremony as an alternative yet?
  20. Have you met @teef?
  21. Be careful with the jelly beans. One Easter our young son snuck off and ate every jelly bean in his basket. A few hours later he’s in his PJ’s on the couch being cradled by my wife. He’s screaming “WHAT KIND OF MOTHER ARE YOU?!?! I NEED A DOCTOR!!!” And then he vomited jelly beans, some apparently un-chewed, all over her. She’s an awesome mother! I promise. .
  22. I might get the Bengals game in the Rockpile that was in a blizzard and a complete white out. Amazing experience, and you’ll never see it on this pasty white Irish kid. Seriously, you’ll never see it.
  23. I recently realized my Facebook account was locked in 2021 for some reason. 🤷‍♂️
  24. I might rather dig up the video of my son’s 4th birthday party and watch that. We had a fire truck come to the house and he was SO excited…..that he disappeared from the video by falling out of the drivers seat and landed face first on the asphalt street. Bloody mess that was! Yeah, I’d rather watch that.
