Is it easier now for pro sports teams to make big comebacks late?
Augie replied to Another Fan's topic in Off the Wall
Like college basketball with the portal and NIL, they have found a way to ruin something I really enjoyed. Sorry, but I miss it. -
We rented the first year we were married and paid $600/month in rent. This is 40 years ago, and we felt the rent was very doable. We should have rented a place with better insulation. We were married in February, and our first electric bill was also about $600. Some lessons you learn the hard way.

I’m sure you were quite parched when you came to!

So close, but it looks like you didn’t quite finish that last one! 🍺

I think the long season and the enormous contracts have ruined the NBA. I loved it back when Buffalo had the Braves, and everybody tried as hard as college players. Going to a Tuesday night game in Charlotte it’s obvious that they are just going thru the paces. We took our scrappy little AAU point guard and in less than 5 minutes he turned to me and said “they’re not even trying!” Correct. I believe you about the 3 point shot, but I have to take your word for it. I haven’t watched the NBA in years, but I heard somebody missed like 45 3 pointers in one game. I’m not missing anything, IMO. -
Some people here are just waiting to pounce on any little thing they see or hear that proves their point…..these guys are incompetent! I also predict the sun will come up tomorrow.

I think it’s too soon to say that you are not included. Unless you are, and then I was just kidding.

Possibly moving back to WNY: northtowns or southtowns?
Augie replied to Ned Flanders's topic in Off the Wall
The Buffalo traffic is like an extra treat when I go back. I’m comparing it to everywhere I’ve lived, not just Atlanta. EDIT: I will say that certain areas are busier than I remember at times, but it’s still light compared to most places. . -
Happy Birthday Josh Allen! (May 21st)

I thought it was kinda funny because, well, I live in Atlanta. Don’t try to scare me about WNY traffic. 🤣 Of my family and friends growing up, only one guy I knew well still lives in Buffalo. My buddies are scattered across the country, but I know we all enjoy going back to visit. I lived in Hamburg when I was a kid (thru 3rd grade), then we moved to Williamsville/East Amherst. I really like both areas, but it’s no fluke that I remember the snow being over my head when I was little. -
I would rather avoid unnecessary distractions. This is just a distraction.

I have no expertise, but I have a ton of well wishes. Back and nerve pain are awful. -

Umm, what? -
My sense of smell is not what it used to be. (I’ll get there, I promise!) It’s a nice early summer night here, with a light breeze. I tried to let the dogs out but the older dog wouldn’t go if I didn’t. I went out and sat on a patio while the neighbor behind us cut his grass. He’s got a fairly big lot for a push mower, so it takes him a while. He almost hummed me to sleep. When I was 14 in NY I got my working papers. I was too young to do much else, so I pushed a lawnmower for 40 hours a week at the complex we lived in. The hum of the engine, the vibration and the smell of the gas and the fresh cut grass stays with you. When I gave in to the dog tonight and went down to the patio I realized the smell of his fresh cut grass from the guy behind us was the strongest scent I can remember. I sat down and listened and smelled until he finished. It was crazy how the smell took me back to that time. Much like when I get a fresh whiff of tidal marsh around Hilton Head, or crushed shell pathways in Harbour Town. Smell doesn’t get enough credit. .

Since we already have Da Bears and other jokes, let’s celebrate the man and appreciate his work. This is a few minutes of awesomeness to me. .

Oh, this one strikes deep. RIP That was our “home date night” on Thursdays when we were first married. Cheers and tacos every Thursday for must see TV.

Have we ever seen them in the same place at the same time? 🤷♂️

I think the Bills came out and said that by the time they learned of it, there was very little left on the DT market and they felt their best option was just to proceed. I obviously don’t like it either, but both the team and the player felt it was still the thing to do. They know a lot more about how it went down than I do. 🤷♂️
