  1. Bears fans are hoping for halftime of the next game. It’s soon enough, and it adds a nice twist.
  2. I worked with someone who lived on a golf course and frequently saw deer. One day, one of the damn critters must have been high from eating a neighbors crops and he saw his reflection in her sliding glass doors. (That’s my story and I’m sticking to it!) He crashed into the slider until he broke into the house. She ran out he front door with the baby before the deer went about completely trashing their house! Bambi can be cute, but also a problem. We lived near golf courses and a lot of preserves in FL. The deer population was out of control but it was a residential area, so they brought in archers. The herd needed some thinning, I guess.
  3. We took the 9 year old grandson to NYC this summer to see the Big Apple, catch a play, see the wife’s office, ferry around the Statue of Liberty, etc. He also learned what Woodstock must have smelled like. Apparently it’s legal in NY and nobody cares where you smoke it. People just walking down the crowded sidewalks smoking joints all over Manhattan. It was a bit eye opening. We’ve been to plenty of places where it’s legal but people generally try to be discreet. Not in NYC while we were visiting.
  4. You mention “since London”, and I can say the same thing. I’m not sure how you have changed since that event, but I can say I still love the Bills but am losing some interest in the NFL.
  5. Zero worries. It would be boring if we always agreed. I’m not one to start things, but I will defend my point, or sometimes admit I whiffed. It happens. I can’t deny being a volume poster, but I’m here for entertainment, just like the games. This is a platform we can all use in different ways. I read plenty, as in daily. Sometimes I prefer Grisham to what is said here, so I can be guilty of skimming. I don’t think it was lazy to ask about the guy who was the subject of the topic. I don’t believe it had been stated why he was still available. That is what this place is for in many respects. I never thought of you as a crusader at all, but we all have different preferences.
  6. I few months ago I might have given you a used Garmin. 😋
  7. This is not to advise or judge anyone for anything, it is just an indication of how different the world is today. When I was maybe a year older, my father took me and a friend to a game against the Chiefs at The Rockpile. It was a rainy day, and my father gave our two seats for the kids under the “cover” (that leaked like a sieve) to his buddies, and put us in their seats in the end zone where we got soaked. I can’t believe nobody lost an eye for all the umbrellas surrounding us in the seats. You could barely see the game, but it was just great to be able to see anything. But the exciting part was when they kicked FG’s or extra points……prior to nets keeping the balls from landing near a couple 12 year old kids who would then be trampled by drunken men looking for a souvenir. My buddy had his program ripped out of his hands in the restroom, but we otherwise survived. Then we drove home without seatbelts.
  8. The only thing we have delivered is pizza, usually from the same place. If they don’t ask about adding a tip at the order, I’m kinda relieved to just hand the driver cash, as I suspect they would prefer. Unfortunately, I use so little cash since Covid these days about the only thing I ever have is the same twenties from the ATM some time ago. That’s a bit steep for the 2 mile drive straight up the road so we make sure nobody gets stiffed. Life is too short for that kind of bad karma. Tip people fairly. On a related note, I always try to tip in cash when I take an Uber. The drivers seem to appreciate cash for a variety of reasons, and sometimes the app messes up and doesn’t give me a chance to tip for days, if at all. I have been rated by the driver by then. I want to KNOW they got tipped properly. Possibly as a result, I needed an Uber late one night trying to get to my hotel (in a seedy area) after bar time following an NCAA tournament day in Orlando. The driver said he was about to go home, but he saw that I was a 5.0 rider at the time. I did not know riders get a rating! I think the 5.0 rating was due to my generous cash tipping, because I don’t think any of the drivers found me as funny as I found myself after hours of drinking! They appreciate cash over comedy from a friendly drunk guy. 😂
  9. This should come with a caveat. He is a “Ranch Guy”, so take anything you learn with a grain of salt. But I bet he has good advice regarding attending from out of town with a young(ish) son.
  10. I got lost and wandered in here. Now I can’t find my way out. 🤷‍♂️
  11. Sorry, too late. Maybe a short thread turns into a long thread because you personally respond to and preach to every poster in it. You are generally better than this, but this “read before you post stuff” is tiresome. I’m not reading EVERY post in a long thread. Some people I don’t read at all! I asked a question I believe BEFORE it was answered, and I think it was a fair question. I didn’t need a half dozen answers to it, but I got them. Rather than chastise the people who were not first to respond, I simply thank them. Maybe he’s recovering from an injury late last season? Maybe he’s trying to reduce wear and tear. Maybe he’s had some kind of illness or personal matter. There are countless possibilities. It was a fair and reasonable question. .
  12. We were in Breckenridge for the kids first ski trip during March Madness. They were big AAU Hoops kids and used to go to UNC camp in Chapel Hill each summer. I hope I NEVER forget the night we watched UNC play at some place (Eric’s Down Under?) while we played games in the arcade section and ate. The kind of night that can choke you up. One of those great memories. My problem with Breckenridge was the altitude. We were coming from about 12-14 feet. (We could hear the boats, but seeing the boats costs a tad bit more.) Breckenridge was significantly higher. The town (I just peeked) is 9,600 feet. I hate math, but I think that is exactly……..a LOT! It got us. The youngest bent over to make his first snowball and I barely caught his hood before his face hit the sidewalk. We spent $400 at Main Street Oxygen, like many people before us, and spent the first day or two in the condo with tubes up our noses! YAY!!! What fun! 😂 EDIT for PSA reasons: We’ve learned since then, from people who made the same mistake we did, is you fly into Denver and spend a night a mile up, before going up to almost double that. .
  13. Oh, I know who I believe, but I’m not going there. Not here, not in a bar next to some guy. Nothing is gained. Nobody is persuaded.
  14. The idea of skiing is growing on me again. 😋 Somewhere above is a comment about some place being too flat. THAT would be my kind of place! My sister is partner in a big ski house in Killington. It was brutally cold, and the snow wasn’t great on my couple trips there, but they had the longest greenest trail I’ve ever seen. Loved that! I want nothing death defying, I just want a nice easy glide for gentle pleasure.
  15. I think that is a stretch, to say the least. I think they did a good job of finding replacements for guys who were actually their first choices. The truth is, we are still missing Pro Bowl type players, and that hurts any team.
  16. This is not political to me at all. They turned me down too and I have to admit I was kinda pissed at the time. But things have turned out fine with me on the fringes, instead. The title is factual and fair, IMO.
  17. When they are gone, even just to the groomer, there is almost a palpable difference in how the house feels. Some kind of energy is missing. When they are gone and not coming back, that loss takes on a greater intensity for a while. It is so empty and quiet. I know people who never got another dog because it was so hard to face the loss. We take the opposite approach and look forward to adding a new member to the family after some proper time. We usually have had two at a time, and they are truly best friends. I won’t suggest what is best for anyone else. That is far too personal. But I will say that time helps quite a bit. It’s a bit too slow and gradual, but it happens. Like so many things in life, make a point of enjoying what we have in the here and now. I just took our girls into the newly upgraded backyard, where they proceeded to do their best to trash everything planted over the last two days by a large crew. The puppy can’t be trusted, but even the 3 year old gave me the finger, I think! They were running thru all these cool new plants like a drag race thru a long car wash! What a great new game! They probably couldn’t hear me yelling to stop for the sound of all the snapping plants going off in their ears. Hey! It ain’t ALL perfect! 😂
  18. So, are we NOT firing him now? It’s hard to keep up.
  19. It wouldn’t make me patient. It would make me stop watching, as I was close to doing with Rex. I don’t care who it is, I don’t want to start building anything with a head coach in his 70’s. BUT, I am in full agreement…..I don’t like BB or Kraft either! 😋
  20. If he is not doing the job of the title assigned to him, it’s “something”, and “stunt” is about as good of a word as any.
  21. If he was brought in to repair fan relationships and build goodwill, it’s a bit of a stunt. He wasn’t much of a GM. Just sayin’……
