  1. Another clue I’ve learned in life, the people who are the most successful and wealthiest rarely make that immediately apparent. NEVER do they offer tax returns on an internet message board. We have known some incredibly successful people, some who can’t remember the last time they flew commercial, but you would never know it to sit down with them. EDIT: It seems a lot of the most successful people seem more interested in you than themselves. .
  2. I looked at the cheapest of cheap seats on StubHub yesterday and you could get in for $250-300 USD. Not sure if the upper deck for $500 is better seats? There was no shortage of secondary tickets after the people who do this to put food on the table scarfed up all they could.
  3. It’s pointless. Nice try, but it reason will go nowhere. If your child isn’t the Valedictorian every year, you really need to look into an orphanage somewhere.
  4. No, to contend means that you have a good chance of doing well in something upcoming. That is what the word means.
  5. Vegas has us behind only KC and Philly. Is that not contending as a favorite to you? Or should we listen to the people here?
  6. Who are you calling “old-timer”, you creepy guy looking over my shoulder! 😋 …….they were not just family trips, we spent the entire summer up there in a cottage. My dad drove back in for work every day. I slept on the screened porch, which I now realize was because all the beds were full inside. To this day I love sleeping on a hammock on the back porch! EDIT: I was actually looking at WNY real estate today thinking of how lovely it is, much of the year. It’s the rest of the year that is concerning. .
  7. I had reasons for not quoting someone there. You’re welcome! 😋 .
  8. I hope it wasn’t one of the first things you learned about him…..like so many of the people who ever attended Harvard.
  9. A high IQ can be wasted by a low EQ, sadly.
  10. If you can’t get a 1,600 on your SAT’s there’s no point in getting out of bed that morning.
  11. I feel like someone is trying to sell me on the Ignore feature.
  12. I live in the college football land of Atlanta. It’s not just UGA plates around here, you see Auburn, Bama, FSU, UF and so on. Any chance to charge a little extra! 💰
  13. I think they must be using the Ignore feature. 🤷‍♂️
  14. I know I’ve heard that before. I just can’t remember if it was in Physics or Philosophy.
  15. Then can we trade him? We ALWAYS want to trade someone!
  16. Wow! And just before he was going to invite you to join him! Very unfortunate. 😋 I, on the other hand, do not hate anyone, and I’m fun to be with at football games, for anyone with an extra single. I expect to pay thru the nose sometime between now and October. EDIT: I just looked at StubHub and the cheap seats are available in the $250-300 USD range. If you can afford the expensive seats, please keep me in mind if they give tours of where the other half watches football. .
  17. So, you don’t think they will do that thing they can’t do? WE NEED FOOTBALL!!!
  18. I only wandered in there once…… accidentally. It was like walking in on your parents fooling around and the sleepless nights that follow. 😱
  19. Don’t you have some work to do? 😋 It sounds like it’s not financially feasible, but by all means feel free to carry on. There’s no football to watch.
  20. I’m not sure what is happening, but in recent months it seems @ScottLaw has become a middle of the spectrum guy. Go figure! Congrats to the half dozen or dozen posters who have skewed our little world. I admire the OP’s constraint for not mentioning names, but we all know who they are. And “realist” is not an accurate term.
  21. Nice! I especially like the “North Jersey” part, where the “Other New York Teams” play.
  22. Those who stick with it get a headache?
  23. The “gullible” in this case was meant as a dig at me. He thinks I was gullible enough to believe everything they said was a 100% accurate recitation of what really happened. But I’m old enough and wise enough to know to never give their exact words too much importance. People react in ways that are most convenient to them, generally. Life is many shades of gray, and some people are too literal and can miss much of what is happening all around them. I have a brother-in-law who is brilliant….. in some respects. Make it math or science and he’s your guy. If the job is dealing with people, you need to find him something math or science related to do. We’re all different. Some are more enjoyable than others. .
  24. . Wait and see. Always the wise approach.
