Big Russ and Me is an awesome book.......my parents grew up in the same neighborhood in S-B. He was SO excited to cover the 2008 election. And his 2000 coverage is absolute Hall of Fame stuff.

All of this. I just finished up a stint as a bartender for 10 months (divorce-related) and the two biggest things were hustling and being nice to the kitchen. When things go wrong with an order and it's her fault, make sure she knows ALL their names and is always courteous to them. They're working hard also. Oh and wash your hands frequently! The first time I ever heard of him was seeing his Iceland episode of No Reservations in 2005. I was enamored from that moment on. Read Kitchen Confidential, and Medium Raw, and retroactively watched A Cook's Tour and kept up with him through the years. He certainly lived his life to the fullest and this is NOT the way I thought he would go out. Fittingly and most sadly, he was found by his best friend Eric Ripart who is an amazing chef and a great counterpart to Tony. RIP, Anthony. I will miss your work terribly.

Running out of gas is the single-biggest operator-error car repair ever. PEOPLE! The fuel pump is never meant to cavitate and is cooled by the gasoline it sits in. Please don't run out of gas! Back on topic...... I used to drive a lot, about 50k a year for work. 2001 Honda Civic. Had the 2nd timing belt service done at 200k and about 20k later, the belt came off and all the valves kissed the pistons. My mechanic who did the original work showed me that the tensioner spring (Honda genuine) snapped apart and that's the reason the belt came off. He charged me $250 for shop supplies, fixed the head and everything else (without charging me the $2700 repair bill) and chased Honda for the money. That's the only issue I've had minus one A/C compressor grenading after 250k life, and normal brakes/tires/wear parts.

We could be worse this year......but we also could be the Rams from last year with a "who knew" QB and head coach. All I know is that it took the passing of Ralph to begin the major changes and the failures of the Pegula's early on to spur this positive change. Let's hope we become relevant again across the sporting world. People not from Green Bay tune into Green Bay games for one reason.....they have had QB's and success for a LONG time. They could be Buffalo without that......an afterthought.
