  1. The Super Bowl window is already closing lol. That's absurd and don't say because Josh is on his rookie contract when all you have to do is look at the last 15 years or so of Super Bowl champions. A couple QBs on their rookie deals, but that's it. The defense did carry us all year and defenses ruled the day this past weekend and they rule the day in the playoffs in general. Up 16-0 with 5 or 6 minutes to go in the 3rd with a defense that finished 2nd in the league in points allowed, the game should've been over. The Bills allowed the second most points out of the eight teams that played Wild Card Weekend. You're giving them a free pass when they're just as much to blame than anyone else.
  2. I don't see how that's going to happen with only 42 million to spend, Brady saying he isn't giving a hometown discount this time around and a number of FAs, including several on their very good defense. It would be a tough task considering everything to get him any real weapons this offseason if he returns.
  3. I'm curious as to why you think of defense was wore out 3/4 through the game when the offense went on 3 long drives in the 4 times they touched the ball in the first half and after scoring their FG in the 3rd was up in TOP? On top of that, most sat all or the majority of the game the week before. In the playoff game the defense did lose the game. Spotted a 16-0 lead with only 5 or 6 minutes left in the 3rd and they give up 22 points from the 1:33 mark of the 3rd on? They only gave up 22 or more in 3 games this year. It's common for most teams to lean on an offense or a defense, with our team we leaned on the defense and by his actions throughout the year, it's exactly the way McDermott wanted it.
  4. Jerry just revealed he played 2019 with torn ligaments in his wrist. When it came to the playoff game and a 1 and done scenario he was the most disruptive player on our defense Saturday logging 4 tackles & 3 sacks while causing a couple others.
  5. Definitely not trying to single him out, but this play puts us 17-0 right before halftime. In the end there's several plays that if just one guy did his job and made his play we would've won the game. Hopefully this fuels Duke during the offseason, but Beane just mentioned today that this year's draft class is really WR strong.
  6. He's in the game to make those tough jump ball catches in the endzone. It has to be true, I was hearing it all over these boards when he wasn't playing that he should be for this very play right here. If that's why you're in the game then you HAVE to come down with it. He's bigger and stronger Conley is. 6' 3" 225 vs 6' 0" 190.
  7. Brown wouldn't have to, he wins with speed and get's separation. Brown and Beasley are totally different WRs than Duke. That's like saying I very really doubt Duke can make Gilmore & McCourty look like fools on the same play and beat them deep for a 53 yard TD like in week 16. The same Gilmore who hadn't given up a TD against him in the first 14 weeks. Not only do I doubt it, it's never happening. To say there's no doubt Duke catches it the second time is a but shortsighted, no one knows if he would've or wouldn't have.
  8. You're correct, but the good seems to be in the distant past and the bad seems like recent memory. Even their 1st round pick this year N'Keal Harris, missed the first 9 games(Seems like there's a pattern here) then played the rest of the year. In 7 games:12 catches for 105 yards and 2 TDs with the best QB ever throwing him the ball. There's probably at least 8-10 rookie WRs that would've outperformed him if he had play all year, several catching passes from average QB, to below average QBs.
  9. So let's look the most recent year they had some front end capital. In 2018 they had (2) 1st and a 2nd round pick. They selected Isaiah Wynn, Sony Michel & Duke Dawson respectively. Wynn has been hurt twice already and has only played in 8 of the 32 games so far. Michel has been good, but definitely not great for the 2 years he's been there. Chubb was there for the taking and has been the better RB of the two to date. Duke Dawson was traded away a year later with a 7th rounder for a 6th round pick. A 2nd + 7th for a 6th one year later, that's no bueno. All in all for (2) firsts and a 2nd that's not very much production at all over the first two years.
  10. The hand is not "in there" until well after the initial drop and Duke is already turned 90 degrees clockwise. At the time of the initial drop the defender's arm and hand are down by Duke's waist. Look at the set of four pictures again.
  11. You see it your way, I see a drop. Is it a somewhat hard catch, yes, but it's the exact ball that Duke and pretty much Duke only, is on the field to catch. It's probably the biggest reason they're playing him.
  12. It reminded me so much of the Bills the last 2 years, except they have way more draft picks to use in 2020 & 2021 including 5 first rounders and 4 second rounders.
  13. As far as comparing the Bills vs Ravens chances of improvement....One team finished 10-6 and was the 5th seed in the playoffs, the other was 14-2 & the #1 seed. Basic math tells you one is easier to improve upon than the other, no? One has 90 million to spend in this year's FA, the other has 34 million. As far as why I think the Ravens won't finish 14-2 or better...I don't see them winning 12 games in a row next like they did this year winning every game since week 5. I think another year of film could give defenses a better chance at slowing down Lamar. All they have to do is watch the Bills vs Ravens game. They also have 21 FAs while only having the 34 million to spend this offseason.
  14. The Dolphins have 13 draft picks next year including 3 first rounders and 2 second rounders and 94 million to spend. Couple that with a pair of first & second round pick in 2021 and finally finding what appears to be a good coach. The Dolphins will be players in the division for a while starting either in 2020 or 2021.
  15. You expect the Ravens to do better than 14-2 and the #1 seed in the AFC? Are they going undefeated?
  16. Agreed that firing Daboll would do more harm than good, but someone(McDermott or Beane) needs to sit him down and ask him WTH he was thinking. Josh is 2-4 when passing 35 times or more and now 0-3 when throwing over 40 times, he has to know those numbers, wouldn't you think? Including the Bills 48 attempts, the average number of passes for the 8 playoff teams last weekend was 31, we had 50% more than the average, again while leading or tied most of the game. Sometimes you can handcuff an offense with bad play calling, to me this was one of those game. Singletary was massively underutilized.
  17. I agree with you that people can't look at every play that doesn't work and/or there's bad execution by the players and blame the OC. You can blame the OC for having a young QB on the road in his first playoff game throwing 46 passes or having him directly involved in 56 plays(46/9/1) vs only handing the ball off to the RBs 21 times. That's while leading or tied in almost the entire 69 minutes of the game. After his 15 scripted plays ran out he didn't call a good game, he consistently outsmarts himself. Both need to come down with those passes. Duke because he's on the field to get those type of catches and Brown's footwork was lazy at best. Has he never heard what a toe tap is?
  18. No. What are you watching? I love the Bills as much as anyone, but there was no pass interference on the play, it was a drop.
  19. I think he improved greatly over the offseason and again after the first Pats**** game. After game 4 and including the playoff game he had 17 TDs and only 3 INTs, almost a 6:1 TD to INT ratio. That's a far cry from the raw QB we saw most of last year, when Daboll would tell him that if the first option wasn't open to run. He struggled against the Pats****(2nd best pass defense), Steelers(3rd best) & the Ravens(6th best), but at the same time had 6 games with a QB Rating over 100, last year he only had 2. Last year he had 5 games with a QB Rating under 60, this year it only happened in the first Pats**** game. If he makes the same leap forward next year he becomes the QB we've been waiting for since Kelly.
  20. As I told my friend after the game, who is a big Duke fan.....If he's going to be the big, sure handed WR who makes tough catches then he's got to come down with that, it was a perfect pass. Otherwise what is the value of having him on the roster? Not picking on Duke, not saying he can't or won't improve.
  21. Josh was 6 of 21 on passes with 31+ air yards last year ranking 28th. I've attached a link for last year, but you have to scroll down a bit to get to the numbers on the 31+ air yard passes. @Forward Progress has the same thinking I have and have had for the last half of the year on why Allen struggled this year. Once he came out of the gate with 6 INTs in the first 4 games and 3 in the Pats**** game alone, he began to play it safe and overthrow his receivers or throw too far out of bounds. Josh improved greatly over this past offseason on passes over the middle and short to intermediate passes. Hopefully his deep ball will get a lot of attention this offseason while he works with Jordan Palmer. https://www.footballoutsiders.com/stat-analysis/2019/2018-19-deep-ball-project
  22. I agree Duke does need some more gameday reps as long as we don't bring in someone better than him during the offseason. I would still love to see him put on 20 pounds and switch to TE this offseason, I think he would tear it up there, especially against LBs and safeties. My thought on McDermott are this, as Josh grows and continues to improve, he will be more willing take chances and not be so conservative. I think if he had Brees, Rodger, Mahomes or Brady he may have very well have kept the foot on the gas. You are correct in saying it's absurd to ask a young QB to take his foot off the gas, then a quarter later ask him to put the pedal to the metal.
  23. 2019 was the best season to be a Bills fan in 20 years and with the thought us being young at key positions not old like the late 90s teams, it might have been the best season to be a fan in the last 25. If we spend our money & draft as well as we did this year winning the East might be a bit low for expectations. Every loss we had this year, no matter how good the team was, was by 7 points or less with the exception of the Iggles game. A special thanks to Kyle(Last Year), Lorax & Gore this year for being great leaders in the locker room. It was great to have these men around to show the young guys what it takes to be a pro in this league. I love this team because it is a team in every sense of the word. I love them because they love one another and their fans and it's shown in their actions and words. I love them because while they may be short on talent in some games, they are tough as nails and have oh so much heart. They are a great representation of what a Western New Yorker is. What a year to be a Bills fan! Here's to next year! GO BILLS!!
  24. The ref's job is to enforce the rules and the rules state that he needs to make no attempt to advance the ball AND kneel or lay on the ground. The ref's job is not, nor should it EVER be to judge a player's intentions. The returner had a job to do and he failed to do it, he shouldn't have been bailed out. The exact same thing happened in a Clemson game a couple years ago and it was ruled a TD for the kicking team. This is the equivalent of a player running free towards the endzone & letting go of the ball at the half yard line. Commonsense says his intent was to cross the goal line with the ball and everyone is sure that's the case, but in failing to do so it results in a fumble.
  25. I'm telling you the picture doesn't do it justice, go watch the game again and see the replay it was there for him to grab. I'll admit that he's better than Foster who fell off a cliff compared to last year. I did like his third down catches in the first half, both nice throws and grabs. But if he's going to be the big sure handed receiver who makes the tough catches, he needs to make that catch. Here's to Duke continuing his improvement and knowledge of what it takes to be an NFL WR. If you remember me from early this season that's a big jump forward from where I was with him. He like several other of our young players just need to learn from their first playoff experience.
