  1. I think the REALITY of the situation is we all watch the games and that is why we think Hackett is not an NFL OC. Not that we read people saying Hackett is bad on TBD. There are more Bills fans that understand football and the eye test of 24 games Hackett has called plays than people on here reading. Reading on TBD is NOT why we complain about Hackett or get the idea to judge him.....it is because we watch the games and he is not an NFL OC!!! So well said!!!! I would be OKAY with Marrone back. BUT....if it came with Hackett....no thank you!!! If we waste the talent on this roster and this window of opportunity we have from now for maybe another 3 years on Marrone and Hackett AND they don't evolve it would be a REAL shame!
  2. Seriously.....why we we not look to get better. I am thrilled we are 5-3. But what if we finish 8-8 and miss the playoffs? What if we are in the top 5 or even top 3 in defense and miss the playoffs going 8-8? Is firing Hackett silly? The Ravens example is awesome!!! Super Bowl because they continued to evaluate their team all the time. Maybe like the Jauron years we should just extend Hackett's contract because we are 5-3 or because we scored 5+ TDs last week. It is important not to get too high or too low....but how good could our team be and how much is Hackett holding it back? I am not talking about the Jets game. I am talking about 80% or more of the 24 games Hackett has called plays. He is not an NFL OC at this point in his life especially if he doesn't adapt more.
  3. Crossman better be doing well! We were signing free agents almost just for special teams. Most ST coordinators use what is on the team. If we didn't need to sign ST players we might have signed real or better Guards?! Or other positions. Overall, I like Whaley a lot. I don't care for Marrone. I strongly dislike Crossman and Hackett. I love the Bills and think we are making the turn as an organization! But, overall down on coaching and think we are winning on pure talent. I like what Schwartz is doing too overall. You got to love stopping the run! Look at Croosman's career results! Either he is terrible and I think he is OR we focused too much on fixing his coaching weaknesses in the off season in filling roster spots....that is what I believe. Crossman has Marrone listen to him so much he didn't dress Mike Williams so we could have a TE dress for STs that nobody has ever heard of or knew he was on the team?!
  4. I hate the run play Hackett calls....I think it is called run into the pile and fall down. What I REALLY don't understand is how can we run so much last year and this year (even though from a yard per carry weak) HOW can we NOT run play action. Isn't that a huge benefit to the other team thinking your are going to run. I think we have earned the right from everyone in the NFL that they should think we are running. How you never throw play action.....ahhhh! Is this crazy or just me. It is like losing twice, throwing good money after bad money....you get the point.
  5. This is the worst 22 thread ever. The sarcasm is overbearing. Just because the team is 5-3 and the defense is elite doesn't mean you don't try to get better! It is good we are winning games. But we can and MUST get better on offense! Don't confuse the two together. Everyone is defending Hackett because we won. It isn't that we are talking about poor play calling for the Jets game. It has been arguably for 24 games....let's not forget that! That is the real issue!!!! It is not a one game issue of play calling. It is almost every game Hackett has called. We need 10 wins to get in the playoffs. Lets say we beat Oakland. We have 5 wins plus Oakland. We need 4 more before the last month starts. That means we need to win the next 4 games or against NE, GB or Denver. So....I think we need to improve our play calling. Or at least entertain it and not not play Osterich with Hackett and the play calling.
  6. Well said!
  7. That could be the turning point of the whole season! Go Bills!!
  8. Let me tell you why that play would never work! Let's say it was executed perfectly and Graham was open and the throw was made....Graham would still have to catch the ball!
  9. Agreed! He is not soft. He can't be.
  10. I agree Marrone talked a big game but doesn't follow through on things. He seems to also speak in generalities. He says good thing and knows how to sell things but no ability to follow through.
  11. Much prefer to have Orton than Vick.
  12. Thanks for all the stats, good picture of where the offense really is. Yes, I have a concern too about Orton getting injured. More of my fingers crossed than a concern that he doesn't!
  13. To give Vick the benefit it was off the bench, but, he is a veteran and professional and should do better. But, I do agree with you, I would totally prefer to have Orton over Vick.
  14. I think Orton's cap hit is approx $7 million next year. We should have room for a $8 QB and then some if we wanted to go that route. Maybe even up to $12 million. If we go up to $12 million it would handcuff us potentially on other FAs.
  15. True. So, I guess that is the argument for opting out. Hopefully, we have a new OC and or HC and he does not opt out.
  16. BB and the Pats will have had 10 days to prepare. That is never a good thing. Agreed. This game is huge. We are either 4-4 at the bye or 5-3. Big difference. We need to win games we can and/or should. Jets are tough at home and are not a 1-6 team. Go Bills!! HUGE week!!
  17. I agree with you usually. But,Sammy is too valuable. By that I mean...he could score 2 or 3 TDs in a game. Returning? Maybe one? What could someone else do returning? As I do believe players should return kicks and not worry about injury. I just think the return on investment (ROI) of Sammy returning kicks is not worth it. It is a good argument either way WHEN you are talking about your best offensive player or most important player. True and has had success in the past.
  18. Is that the same guy from Coming to America that uses Soul Glow?!
  19. I really don't want Sammy back there for injury risk. I know returns have lower percentages to get hurt. But, Sammy is best and/or offensive player and has shown his importance to moving the ball and scoring and winning games for us. If he were hurt it would be costly. I surely hope we don't have to find out how costly. Go Bills!!!
  20. I don't think Rex was lying. I don't think Harvin is smart and he needs to learn the playbook. So, I would think returns and some deep threats. Maybe a couple others plays too. Maybe some sweeps.
  21. How much does his option year pay him? Probably a lot since it was the old CBA. Maybe $6 million? Sorry, didn't see this. So, $4 million. Keep in mind he can't talk to other teams until and if he opts out. So, let's say, if you are CJ and agent there are two thoughts................... 1. His value is down and he can sign a contract a little less the Chris Johnson...let's say it is 4 years at $3 million and $3 or $4 million guaranteed. 2. Stay in his contract for the final year and get $4 million guaranteed and sign a deal the following year with the Bills or another team and get more than 4 years at $3 million and $3 or $4 million guaranteed and already pocketed an extra and sure $4 million. I was just talking aloud while I was typing and thinking.........I think he stays in his contract and I would if I was him too. I like CJ's potential. I get his overall under performance. My overall thought is, he is worth bringing back with new coaches or at least a new OC. If not, it is the definition of insanity, doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. So, same coaches I would hope for his sake and ours he is not back.
  22. I will play along. Glenn is good to very good. And if we traded the EJ pick we wouldn't have Kiko either.
  23. It makes sense and always did. And, because you disagree with Watkins (closer to a sure thing than most top 10 picks) it is a drunken rant? Would you prefer to have Stephen Gilmore and EJ Manuel on your team or Sammy Watkins? Gilmore was a #9 overall pick (I think) and EJ was #16. Those would be where we approx chose last year and the upcoming year if we didn't trade for Watkins. So, do you want two questions marks with upside or one of the top 5 game changing receivers in the last 10 years with little risk? Even if you disagree, how is it a drunken rant. Draft picks are draft picks. Or consider them like stock. However, if you pick with your draft picks and miss, your stock is worth less. Watkins was closer to a can't miss than other players in this draft and other drafts, so, it was a well calculated risk. It sounds like the only rant is you wanting to hear yourself complain because Watkins is doing well and the Bills are above .500! Did you have a tough childhood and enjoy being miserable!? Move to the top 5? That is what we did to get Sammy and you thought it was terrible and we gave up too much in a first round pick! Make up your mind and use it !
  24. Who knows Levitre's contract? I thought it was $46 million...$21 guaranteed? Since we would be off the hook for the guarantee and 1.5 seasons I wonder what would be left and what they would want for him. It would be worth entertaining. I think Tennessee has a different front office than signed Levitre or it was their first year.
