  1. I really can't believe we end up with the two worst guards in football after we all screamed all last year and off season the obvious need to upgrade the OL. I'm not sure it is possible for one team to have the two worst OGs in the NFL, plus their backups who are by definition worse yet. WTF?
  2. Kyle was a professional today. He can't be blamed for the six sacks. He had little to no time, its not like he sat back there and held the ball for 10 secs and got sacked. Our OL is pathetic and the fact he wasn't killed is a testament to his toughness.
  3. I do miss Kiko! Early in this game and most of last, I was having doubts. But they rallied well and stepped up when the game was on the line. They seem well balanced and deep. I'm liking our DL for sure! Can they play both ways? I'm sure Williams and Darius played OL in high school?
  4. No, sorry. He did not win three games by himself. He was a star no doubt, but he doesn't catch a short TD without Hogan's catch or Chandler's catch on 4th down. And the guy who threw those balls helped too. The D deserves some praise especially late in the game. Won by himself? Nope!
  5. I agree with everything you said and voted the same way before and would again after the game. It is just too early. The problem with the pick is that no one can be sure he will be "the guy" we all hope he turns out to be. At the time of the draft it was a big gamble. I'm starting to get very hopeful he will be "the guy". If he is HoF or even PB, I would rescind and vote yes. HoF or PB guys are few and far between, However, he may not get there and the Bills do have too many holes to fill. He does drop a lot of catch-able balls like the back shoulder TD in the 1st half. Today, I am optimistic it was a great trade and pick.
  6. Sorry, I'm just not seeing it from Woods. I think he'll be really good one day as a solid #2 to Sammy, but today he is at best average. I would give Williams more playing time at both Woods and Hogan's expense. He's the better WR today. IMHO.
  7. The experiment is over. It is little wonder why both Cyril and Cryus were healthy scratches in the first weeks of the season. Go with Urbek and Pears on the right side and Williams back at LG when he's able. I really hate to say it, but maybe Incognito is worth the headache and distraction. I don't know, but this OL is very hard to watch. Can't trade Spiller for an OL either. Can we convert a DL to the OL? Can Darius play both ways? Just kidding, but this OL is pathetic. Need to steal a FA away from someone else, even is we over pay. OL take a while to develop. We drafted three guys last year who may in inverse order of their draft rank be pretty good some day. Just not today against the Vikes.
  8. The Seahawks had paid dearly for the 2009 first-round draft choice in 2013, giving up a first-round, seventh-round and future third-round draft pick to the Minnesota Vikings for Harvin. Anyone think this sounds familiar?
  9. Fixing the OL has been a priority for a while. Before they drafted Wood and Levitre, their line was pathetic. Levitre was overrated for sure but at least he was serviceable. I would try straight up hat on hat drive blocking and ditch the zone block scheme. These guys are big so let them fire off the ball and get their target. It can't be any worse.
  10. Bills lost to NE because D failed in a big way and OL still is among the worst in football. OGs are pathetic and the rest can't cover for their mistakes. DBs couldn't cover my 10 year old with a blanket. No pass rush to speak of against a decimated OL, I admit I don't get this one.... Orton's play is far superior to Manuel's play. Sad, yet true. EJ may or may not develop, but today he should be and has been benched. As we have the two or more of the worst OGs in football, including the SEC, and arguably three below average QBs, and poor safety play, I'm not sure we can win against any team in the top half of the NFL. Vikings at home has to be a win...
  11. Guy can't move the pile against larger DLs, but he can pass block and should be given a chance to see if he can play. We have no legitimate NFL quality OGs.
  12. It didn't seem to me that we could get any real pressure on Brady. Even the few times we blitzed, there was no pressure. I thought NE was weak in the middle of the line and then lost guys to injury during the game? Seems like our front four didn't show up or were scheming to stop the run?
  13. - The OL is the reason everyone on this board is dissing Spiller! Decent OL with average QB play and solid WRs (Williams, Woods and Benjamin?) to go along with one of the top Ds in football takes us places beyond just a token playoff appearance. Super Bowl or Bust!
  14. If you're going to call something out , at least follow the thread and the conversation.
  15. Nope. Sorry, in my opinion not even close. Even if we do make the playoffs, there are much better teams top to bottom that will prevent us from winning the GD Super Bowl. With our OL we don't go anywhere. We won because their kicker can't kick and ours can, along with a studly performance from the D. Watkins did help, and may be a special talent, but he isn't going to get us there on his own. We need a couple (few?) more key pieces and losing our 2015 #1 isn't going to help us win the big game...
  16. Nice post, but I can't buy into #6. Stars are plentiful in the NFL and you can count on one hand the number of stars selected by their team that cost two #1s. Look at 2011 draft, 12 of top 16 players selected have gone to the Pro Bowl. The teams that traded up struck out. "There were only four first-round trades in 2011. The Jacksonville Jaguars suffered the most. They gave up a second-rounder to move up six spots to acquire Blaine Gabbert, who washed out as a starter and was dumped in a trade to the 49ers this offseason. Missing out on two high draft choices in the rich 2011 draft set back a franchise that heading into last year had one of the thinnest rosters in terms of talent. The Kansas City Chiefs moved up six spots in the first round to select wide receiver Jon Baldwin in 2011. That didn't work out for the Chiefs, and they ended up dumping him to San Francisco last year for equally disappointing wide receiver A.J. Jenkins. Toward the bottom of the first round in 2011, the New Orleans Saints gave away a 2012 first-rounder to move up for running back Mark Ingram. The Saints recently decided not to pick up Ingram's fifth-year option." http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/10882006/clayton-mailbag-trading-nfl-draft-worth-risk Not saying Sammy is a bust, but two #1s is huge for a team still rebuilding (for over a decade!) He needs to be the best WR in football, not just a PB selection to justify two #1s! I hope I eat my words, but I still have a hard time with the logic of trading away the 2015 #1 pick. I really hope it turns out to be north of #30! Nice win today, Go Bills!
  17. Good post. I think your a little soft on Pears though. Average at OT is generous...And a bit hard on Schwartz. D stole this one. His schemes are very good and I don't think he completely trusts his secondary, or at least I don't think he should...Orton is a big step forward from EJ. No way we win this game with Manuel at QB. We need our OL to begin to gel and the only way that happens is for two and perhaps three rookies to start and begin to evolve. Replacements for Williams, Pears and anyone at RG are as big a need as it was after last season. I really like Watkins as a #1 pick, but I haven't seen much to justify giving up two #1s for him. Two #1s for anyone is huge unless you have the luxury of drafting to fill a single big need. We have several still to fill and the OL weakness should be obvious to everyone.
  18. I think he's consider it, but we don't have the talent up front to make it happen...
  19. Spiller needs to be used the right way. Give him space and he is good as gone. Behind our OL he doesn't have a chance. Trade him to a team with a decent OL and he's AP. FJ is a better fit for our team right now. 3 yards and power forward for another. Love the guy! Chan knew how to use Spiller and get him some space. I wouldn't quite say he's situational, or one dimensional, but close....Decent OL and this team could go places...
  20. worked for me.... Wood has been average, but that may be a result of who is playing next to him. Glenn is solid and I agree about Henderson's future, not so much right now....Williams being average is fine, Pears...can't find an appropriate adjective...sucks is the closest I can come up with, but it really doesn't do justice when describing his play. EJ had time to throw, he took too long and then got hammered. Quick throws underneath and then deep one is the ticket. Pass to set up the run as this line can not dominate a good DL with 8 in the box.
  21. Woods has been that way all year. Today was definitely magnified. He has an edge to him and its not a good edge. I'm worried about his attitude, but I am not defending QB play. OL still stinks and makes EJ look even worse than he is..I was among the "he's only had 10 games at QB" crowd at the beginning of the season. Call me converted as I'm skeptical he will evolve into a decent NFL QB. Orton is not the long term answer, but he may get us to the playoffs as long as he doesn't get killed playing behind Pears and company.
  22. Agreed. They game planned around Miami DE Cameron Wake very effectively and then this against arguably the best DE in the league?
  23. 9) The interception by McKelvin was so off the charts great that its hard to describe. It was the best play of his career, and I have a hard time picturing him ever making a better play. That was a great play for Deion Sanders or Mel Blount. He not only muscled the ball from the receiver, but he went up a mile high. What a freaking play!!!!! Came to this thread just to make this same comment! Leodis is d'man! Well, for one play anyway. Career highlight for sure!
