  1. - The OL is the reason everyone on this board is dissing Spiller! Decent OL with average QB play and solid WRs (Williams, Woods and Benjamin?) to go along with one of the top Ds in football takes us places beyond just a token playoff appearance. Super Bowl or Bust!
  2. If you're going to call something out , at least follow the thread and the conversation.
  3. Nope. Sorry, in my opinion not even close. Even if we do make the playoffs, there are much better teams top to bottom that will prevent us from winning the GD Super Bowl. With our OL we don't go anywhere. We won because their kicker can't kick and ours can, along with a studly performance from the D. Watkins did help, and may be a special talent, but he isn't going to get us there on his own. We need a couple (few?) more key pieces and losing our 2015 #1 isn't going to help us win the big game...
  4. Nice post, but I can't buy into #6. Stars are plentiful in the NFL and you can count on one hand the number of stars selected by their team that cost two #1s. Look at 2011 draft, 12 of top 16 players selected have gone to the Pro Bowl. The teams that traded up struck out. "There were only four first-round trades in 2011. The Jacksonville Jaguars suffered the most. They gave up a second-rounder to move up six spots to acquire Blaine Gabbert, who washed out as a starter and was dumped in a trade to the 49ers this offseason. Missing out on two high draft choices in the rich 2011 draft set back a franchise that heading into last year had one of the thinnest rosters in terms of talent. The Kansas City Chiefs moved up six spots in the first round to select wide receiver Jon Baldwin in 2011. That didn't work out for the Chiefs, and they ended up dumping him to San Francisco last year for equally disappointing wide receiver A.J. Jenkins. Toward the bottom of the first round in 2011, the New Orleans Saints gave away a 2012 first-rounder to move up for running back Mark Ingram. The Saints recently decided not to pick up Ingram's fifth-year option." http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/10882006/clayton-mailbag-trading-nfl-draft-worth-risk Not saying Sammy is a bust, but two #1s is huge for a team still rebuilding (for over a decade!) He needs to be the best WR in football, not just a PB selection to justify two #1s! I hope I eat my words, but I still have a hard time with the logic of trading away the 2015 #1 pick. I really hope it turns out to be north of #30! Nice win today, Go Bills!
  5. Good post. I think your a little soft on Pears though. Average at OT is generous...And a bit hard on Schwartz. D stole this one. His schemes are very good and I don't think he completely trusts his secondary, or at least I don't think he should...Orton is a big step forward from EJ. No way we win this game with Manuel at QB. We need our OL to begin to gel and the only way that happens is for two and perhaps three rookies to start and begin to evolve. Replacements for Williams, Pears and anyone at RG are as big a need as it was after last season. I really like Watkins as a #1 pick, but I haven't seen much to justify giving up two #1s for him. Two #1s for anyone is huge unless you have the luxury of drafting to fill a single big need. We have several still to fill and the OL weakness should be obvious to everyone.
  6. I think he's consider it, but we don't have the talent up front to make it happen...
  7. Spiller needs to be used the right way. Give him space and he is good as gone. Behind our OL he doesn't have a chance. Trade him to a team with a decent OL and he's AP. FJ is a better fit for our team right now. 3 yards and power forward for another. Love the guy! Chan knew how to use Spiller and get him some space. I wouldn't quite say he's situational, or one dimensional, but close....Decent OL and this team could go places...
  8. worked for me.... Wood has been average, but that may be a result of who is playing next to him. Glenn is solid and I agree about Henderson's future, not so much right now....Williams being average is fine, Pears...can't find an appropriate adjective...sucks is the closest I can come up with, but it really doesn't do justice when describing his play. EJ had time to throw, he took too long and then got hammered. Quick throws underneath and then deep one is the ticket. Pass to set up the run as this line can not dominate a good DL with 8 in the box.
  9. Woods has been that way all year. Today was definitely magnified. He has an edge to him and its not a good edge. I'm worried about his attitude, but I am not defending QB play. OL still stinks and makes EJ look even worse than he is..I was among the "he's only had 10 games at QB" crowd at the beginning of the season. Call me converted as I'm skeptical he will evolve into a decent NFL QB. Orton is not the long term answer, but he may get us to the playoffs as long as he doesn't get killed playing behind Pears and company.
  10. Agreed. They game planned around Miami DE Cameron Wake very effectively and then this against arguably the best DE in the league?
  11. 9) The interception by McKelvin was so off the charts great that its hard to describe. It was the best play of his career, and I have a hard time picturing him ever making a better play. That was a great play for Deion Sanders or Mel Blount. He not only muscled the ball from the receiver, but he went up a mile high. What a freaking play!!!!! Came to this thread just to make this same comment! Leodis is d'man! Well, for one play anyway. Career highlight for sure!
  12. Orton time for me...And what the heck happened to Watkin's hands? He dropped at least four catch-able balls didn't he? You must be a Browns fan?
  13. I was never a big fan as he was overpowered a lot, but I would love to have him at LG right now!
  14. I do, because I like the attitude his D brings. I am fine with current D, stopping the run is huge! Wish we were more aggressive with our DBs at the line of scrimmage and rushed 5-6 guys more often. Our DBs have the speed to recover and they have to recover anyways when they play off the WRs.
  15. Down game for Glenn is still much superior compared to the rest of the OL.
  16. With our OL I think you need to throw the ball early so as to enable the run. If we come out trying to jam the ball, on Texans home turf, I think we get stonewalled. Quick short and medium throws mixed with occasional screens. Run the boys deep and let it fly once or twice too...
  17. Never been to GB but Buffalo is tops in my books for tailgating! I have been to KC and they do a nice job, but a distant second to Buffalo. Chicago has no tailgate area. I usually had to park in a garage! Cleveland's set up is ok but is very broken up aside from the main lot. No comparison. Go Bills!
  18. Sorry, no. We reached for each and every OL pick up until Henderson and now we're getting what we paid for, two zero talent OLmen that are healthy scratches. Cryil and Cyrus. Now we have a serious issue with a starting QB that would probably be cut from 50% of the other rosters in the league and no number one next year. A WR who may be special some day, but Benjamin sure looks as good and he didn't cost and extra #1. "OL can be found later in the draft" no need to "waste" picks on OL. Sound familiar to some of you??? Over-rated OL, with under achieving QB....God help us..
  19. OL is simply pathetic. Henderson is surviving at RT but OGs are not viable. No one on the waiver wire? I thought OGs were a dime a dozen? We only need two! Cyril and Cyrus aren't rated above Pears? Maybe Marrone needs to suit up? Jets are gonna have a field day against these guys!
  20. Team loss at home. Very disappointing. Stick with EJ for now. He has to learn from this, but the loss is not his fault. OLine was pathetic. Coaching was worse. Coverage, well...what coverage? Very sad..
  21. I suppose the draw is to see NE and Brady rather than which is the better game. Neither Buffalo nor SD carry much interest nationally. Likewise, the Raiders will always be "the Raiders" and have national interest. Too bad...I'll be at a sports bar for sure, go Bills!
  22. 12th man needs to bring it! Go Bills! Crush them early and hurt them often! Go Bills!!
