Week 11 Predictions: Bills at Pats* on MNF
D. L. Hot-Flamethrower replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Bills 24-23. The Bills will utilize alot of 11 and 12 personnel with LeSean split out as a fifth receiver occasionally. This will cause the Pats to play nickel ,and after completing a few early passes, the running game will take over. Roman will use less heavy personnel groupings 21 and 22 early, because the Pats crowded the box last time. The defense is aided by the offense controlling the ball ,and Rex has the defense ready to challenge the Pats O this time. We commit fewer penalties, win the turnover battle and special teams plays a strong game. -
Fantastic interview with Gilbride
D. L. Hot-Flamethrower replied to dave mcbride's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
In my opinion people are overrating this article. I don't believe Gilbride has any magic formula for beating Belichick. Being 11-7 head to head is not significant. There are a million other variables involved, including randomness. Kudos to him for not screwing up in a couple Super Bowls and get rings. That's what its all about. That doesn't mean he has the magic bullet. In remain unconvinced, that any one of a number of NFL coordinators, including Roman, aren't aware of same things. I believe in both those wins there were a ton of plays that were a coin flip that bounced the Giants way. Not to mention the defensive effort put forth which probably had more to do with it than anything. Gilbride never struck me as someone who was way ahead of the curve. When he had talent he did alright, when he didn't-he didn't. He was no Bill Walsh. I think people who want a different QB other than Taylor, have latched onto the perceived negative comments and run with it. I'm sure you could find other NFL coordinators who would view it 180 degrees from Gildbride. And, I'm not positive from the article he was only trying to slam TT. He was in effect saying it's a process. It is fine to criticize the QB. Every teams fans do it. It gets a little ridiculous, when people can't wait to jump on to something negative, so they are be perceived to be correct in their own mind. In my opinion, some are not interested in the Bills winning with TT as QB. -
AGREED! AHHH! High School Physics.

Sammy will likely be undervalued for the foreseeable future on this site by the Fantasy Football crowd. FF has brought a great many people into the game who never played the game, and this has helped the NFL grow. It has also created a number of "new" experts who understand the game from the "he had 1200 yards receiving and 10 TDs".

LOL

Wouldn't it be nice if Sammy became this generations Paul Warfield.http://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/W/WarfPa00.htm That is the best receiver on 3 championship teams. And, who's stats clearly suffered by the context he played in. A winning context, not a fantasy football context. BTW, he's a HOFer too.

Agreed! Not that numbers are everything. But, since you brought up raw yards without context. Let me try to add a little context. Sammy Watkins ranks 76th in raw yards. When you adjust for games played, his 55yds/ game now becomes 43rd. When you adjust for the team, playcalling, QB, style of play, he rises to 25th, his adjusted yards per game is now 70. How did I get this? The average NFL has about 250 yards receiving per game, the Bills are 200, and adjustment of 1.25. You could adjust further, like Sammy played only about a quarter against Miami, but I'm not going to. BTW, the top guys are Stefon Diggs, Antonio Brown and Alshon Jeffrey. Beckham is in between somewhere. The top WR from last years class right now is Mike Evans at an adjusted 91/game. Another mistake people make with numbers is they represent only what has happened, not what could happen in the future because of the players potential-which is a scouting issue.

JFF takes the reins!

^^^^^^^Agree he looked pretty good. The team around him is crap though. -
Are you an optimist or a pessimist?
D. L. Hot-Flamethrower replied to Rubes's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think the most objective projection is 2-1 to be 7-5 after 12 weeks. Loss @NE, Win @KC, Win vs HOU. I think we will beat KC because I've watched us kick the crap out of them the last 2 years and lose. Won't happen again, we are better than they are. Look at the man to man matchups. No way we lose to Houston at home. -
Even Simpler Math - Russel Wilson < TT

Refs admit wrong call at end of Jax/Ravens
D. L. Hot-Flamethrower replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
In a league where 8-8 and 9-7 or to 10-6, in other words a one game swing, this kind of stuff happens way too much. -
MMQB - Peter King just gushing
D. L. Hot-Flamethrower replied to JÂy RÛßeÒ's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Ronald Darby is pretty good. So is Lesean McCoy. I think King is a decent guy, who seems to work at his craft. I like Gruden and I ain't apologizing for it. -

Agreed about the incompetence. The rules in the NFL have never been less understood or more poorly applied. That abortion of a game in Seattle last night was unwatchable. Flags, whistles, delays, reviews that shouldn't have been needed. Yet, nothing ever changes when it comes to the NFL. -

Tyrod Taylor, No Mistakes
D. L. Hot-Flamethrower replied to Meatplow's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Good call! I agree and was thinking the same thing. This thread has strayed away from its original intention which was ball security and not turning the ball over. He has done a great job all season with that aspect. The Jets have a fine defense and I was happy with his performance. He is doing what is asked of him, which prior to the season we all would have signed up....well almost all. There are still those who will hold him to a standard of perfection. -
Predictions: Bills v. Jets

That's what a real man does. Now we need people to pick the Patriots and be wrong! Nice prediction, keep up the good predicting. I had Bills 17-13. Go Bills! -
