  1. Keep in mind that alot of teams are also waiting to see what they do in their draft. If they get the player they want they may cut a veteran at a position. I.E. Vernon Davis with SF
  2. I can't see giving up more than a 5th. He's 33 and has about 1-2 years left if that I can't see the Eagles wanting more than a 5th I think a 2nd is way to much and a 3rd is overpaying
  3. That's why they want to move to LA. Oakland is choking them off financially and the stadium has no major revenue sources like skyboxes. After this year they are gone.
  4. Not only garbage last season, but hasn't been to pro bowl since 2012. Evans has been to last six pro bowls and was first team 4 years in a row. Free agent period is early. Evans is still in play.
  5. Fasano is a downgrade from Chandler. I'm sure he's looking for similar money. Makes no sense unless they want him as a blocking tight end in addition to Clay or someone like Vernon Davis. Thank goodness the Bills aren't naive enough to consider every free agent that comes available as their only option. I would be shocked if Clay isn't signed. I think the delay is just the process and making the contract something the Dolphins can't match. I know Bills fans aren't the most patient, but I think in this situation stay calm and stay away from journeyman
  6. If they are out to dinner there is serious interest. Whether he stays or not who knows. NE has to be an attractive place for a player who is looking to rebound his career at a young age. Question is does Harvin have the faith in the Bills to be serious championship contenders
  7. I'm sure there are some OL names out there yet to be released that will surprise many. I'm sure Whaley and Ryan already have an eye on them.
  8. The OL is too important for Buffalo to ignore. You don't make all of these large acquisitions without shoring up the OL. This isn't Dick Jauron or other GM's who believe in trying to turn water into wine with subpar players. Buffalo will upgrade their line, I'm confident in it. Just cuz it hasn't happened yet doesn't mean it won't.
  9. I think the Bills have done a great job thus far restructuring this franchise Obtaining arguably the most productive 26 year old RB in the league in a trade for a 2nd year LB that is coming off major knee surgery (his 2nd in five years) I feel is far from a push. While Alonso was a hit with fans and played (at times) at a high level, one solid year in which he had 4 sacks and 1 FF in the first four games of the season, and zero sacks and zero FF the rest of the way doesn't make him a slam dunk for future success. He also played behind a pretty solid d-line last time I checked. I don't think Philly's D line will rival Buffalo's. Buffalo's success will depend on the running game, and acquiring a player in McCoy who had as many rushing yards as all RB's on the Bills last season combined is a huge boost. He also was a lot healthier Cassel's stats are better than QB's that Rex Ryan teams have reached deep into the playoffs with in the past. Players like Trent Dilfer, Tony Banks, and Mark Sanchez have worse stats and turned over the ball more than Cassel. Matt Cassel isn't going to be asked to win many games with his arm. He'll be paid to play smart and not turn the ball over. With that being said, the team still expects EJ to make strides as a 3rd year pro, which honestly I see happening. Cassel is more of an insurance policy. Keeping your own good players isn't a slam dunk by any imagination, especially a player that was as highly sought after as Hughes. Buffalo had a huge mountain to climb with the money that Jacksonville and Oakland had to spend. Hughes knew that one of those teams would overspend (I.E. Lee Smith signing for 3 years $9 mil in OAK) but Buffalo still got it done. Huge credit to Whaley to keep the d-line intact. K Williams extension is another huge plus. Ask Detroit about keeping their key FA players after Suh left for Miami. Felton is also arguably the best FB in the league, and I'm sure Adrian Peterson will confirm. He blocked for a 2000 yard rusher and is at the top of his game. Getting one of the best players at his position to play a style that is so critical to the team's success speaks volumes. If Charles Clay was a FA he would have already been signed. The only delay is structuring the contract so Miami cannot match. That's why he is looking for homes in Buffalo. He's a better blocker than Chandler and has twice as many TD receptions over the last two seasons than the Bills current TE which makes him more of a red-zone threat. In Buffalo's run-heavy offense those are important upgrades. FO said the market for OL dried up fast. With Iupati signing with Cards and Bulaga and Boling re-signing with their former teams, that's understandable. Bills are looking for quality players, not just signing a name to make fans feel warm and fuzzy inside. There are players such as Jahri Evans who are due to get cut and I'm sure the Bills will be high on. Others will pop up as well. Buffalo has also been able to get starters in the draft after the 1st round, and I expect rounds 2-4 will bring in players that will compete at OL. FA is only 24 hours old. I disagree that this is the same team that ended the season week 17 in New England. It's improved in a lot of key areas (including team model and philosophy) and I expect that to continue. Not every day is going to involve a splashy signing. All I care about is the product the Bills put on the field in2015. So far they are off to a phenomenal start, and I expect the job to be done by the time summer comes around and be ready for playoff football come January.
  10. Clay is a medium upgrade in stats and a huge upgrade in blocking. I think his stats will go up in Greg Romans offense
  11. Below is why I believe the Bills feel they are set at QB. As we all know Rex Ryan was DC of the Ravens when they won the Super Bowl in 2000. When comparing the Ravens QB's in 2000 (up to that point in their career) with Matt Cassel up to this point in his career, below is the result: W-L COMP % YARDS TD/INT QB RATING WINNING SEASONS AS STARTER Matt Cassel 33-38 59% 15,727 96/70 80.1 2 Trent Dilfer 38-38 54.8% 12,969 70/80 69.4 2 Tony Banks 20-33 54% 10,469 53/50 72.0 1 During the 2000 season, Dilfer/Banks had the following stats: *Tony Banks 5-3 54.7% 1578 8/8 69.3 Trent Dilfer 7-1 59.3% 1502 12/11 76.6 *Began season as starter Pretty mediocre if you ask me. That same season the Ravens ranked 5th in the league in team rushing lead by Jamal Lewis' 1364 rushing yards & 6 TD's. They also ranked 22nd in passing and threw the 9th most interceptions of any team in the league. TE Shannon Sharpe had the most receiving yards w/ 810. Quadry Ismail lead Wide Receivers with 655 yards. ..and they won the Super Bowl. Easy to see why spending all the money on defense and the running game makes sense. We have arguably a more talented backfield, a more talented WR in Watkins, and are in the process of obtaining a talented TE. OL is on the agenda as well. Keep in mind that EJ is a wild card, and may have learned from his benching last season and may up his game from past seasons to overtake Cassel at QB. At least in Cassel, you know what you have....like what the Ravens thought with Dilfer & Banks. Can Rex duplicate his magic again, or is it a different era in the NFL where you need a QB to make more plays. We shall see. But safe to say they with are gonna at least try.
  12. Overdorf is already 3 shots deep into his bottle of Jack Daniels. He hasn't had to work this hard since the Bills oversigned all those garbage FA in 2006
  13. If @bostondrunks is correct, Buffalo just trumped the Jets offer. I don't believe it. If it's true, that twitter account should just be the official word of all Bills news
  14. He said Clay was flying to Buffalo to possibly sign a tender that the Dolphins have 7 days to match
  15. Russell Wilson's 2015 salary is $1,542,000 Lee Smith is making twiice that much Let that sink in for a second
  16. Teams are allowed to designate up to two players as post-June 1 cuts even if those players are released before June.
  17. this makes sense. with Buffalo's urgency to upgrade their offensive line it's a shock that they haven't been front page on a OL signing. They must have other plans for players they might assume will be available. Evans for one
  18. Yup & knows NE defense that we'll play twice a year
