  1. Honestly, if he’s the best QB on the roster, then he is ready for the field. It’s not like Flacco can’t be competent. If he has things he needs to fix first, then he’s not currently the best option. On that point, the Browns coaches would know where he stands better than some fan on a message board. On that note, my opinion of the situation is informed by a little inside knowledge. the team is working to clean up a couple mechanical issues that show up at times. Nothing major, but you would not want to play him before cleaning them up. Maybe it happens by TC and he shines and is the week one starter. Maybe it takes longer.
  2. Only word on if the Bills are forcing Hoecht or Ogunjobi to room with Kincaid?
  3. KC did it eight years ago with Mahomes - and he was a high 1st round pick.
  4. Disagree. It depends on what the best thing for the development of that particular rookie QB is. If he’s the best and ready to go, then sure. If he needs some work on mechanics, etc. first, then get him right before putting him on the field. Starting him week one and having to pull him after a few weeks is far worse than him sitting him a half - or even whole - season before starting. It all depends when he’s ready.
  5. It shouldn’t be about this year with Sanders, it should be about giving him the best chance to succeed long term. No need to rush him out there. He’s got some things to clean up.
  6. It sucks that this is what it came to for you. Sorry, man. FWIW I got PSLs once when I lived in another city. Had the spare cash at the time and they were nosebleeds and not too expensive. I learned my lesson. Never again. The best football money I spend is on the NFL Premium Plus. It lets me watch every game after it’s completed. The condensed games are great. 30-50 minutes. I usually watch two or three on Monday nights instead of MNF. If MNF is a good game I’ll watch it later in the week. Ditto TNF. Plus there’s “coaches film” which is basically the All 22 views. Great deal for $99/year.
  7. I think so. No guts, no glory. Gotta take some chances like that.
  8. I was praying for a fake sneak and quick hit to a TE.
  9. Coincidentally I was at a place that had it on just yesterday afternoon and much the same thought.
  10. McDermott is largely an excellent coach, but his issue has always been the change up plays. He does not have a feel for them and the team has not been prepared for them. It’s most evident against Reid, who knows him so well. How many times have we seen it in the playoffs against KC? Reid shows one thing all season and game, then hits the Bills with the change up in the playoffs. It’s been the difference in those games.
  11. One other possibility is a trade of a DT after week 6 and before the week 9 deadline.
  12. I think what he’s saying is the same thing I have said repeatedly. Every single player busted for PEDs has a similar story and they are - probably without exception - complete BS. It’s an arms race. New, illegal drugs and masking agents come out, then tests get better and pick them up. Careers and millions (if not tens of millions) of dollars are on the line. That’s why players risk taking them. It’s basic economics.
  13. about 15 years ago I was in Memphis with another guy for work. we had just eaten dinner and were walking by the Grizzly game. a scalper asked if we wanted tickets. $5 each since the game had already started. that worked for us! as he said “can’t eat no cardboard”. I miss the real tickets, but it’s nice having them in my wallet app on my phone too.
  14. I agree. And Larry wasn’t really any better than Daquon last season. So with the only other option at 1 Tech being a rookie I do not see the team moving off Daquon unless he looks totally washed in camp.
  15. Possibly, but it’s worth noting that he is a vested vet. That means the Bills owe him his whole salary if he’s on the team past week one.
  16. He was a problem Game 1 too. He seemed to do better at the end of Game 2. Not sure if he figured something out or just got lucky. In any event, unless he looks a lot better in game 3 I expect to see someone else brought in next season.
  17. The sentiment that once the Bills finally win it all that they will finally walk away is pretty common among Bills fans. I’ve always found that perplexing and never heard a fan from another team express that same thought.
  18. I’m with you. If you’re going to have divisions and play every team in them twice, then being a division winner has to mean something substantial. Currently it does. If you want to eliminate or substantially reduce the advantage winning a division gets a team, then just eliminate the divisions. I’d have no issue with every team playing every team in their conference once plus 2 or 3 games against teams in the opposing conference. Then it’s just records and tiebreakers.
  19. Trey Lance when asked for comment
  20. I think finding a path for Coleman to find success is important. I really struggle to see any path to that happening on the outside, especially at X. Palmer got brought in to be our floor at X. Keon is going to compete with him for snaps there. So what about Y or Z? Better fits than X IMO, especially slot (Y). But I lump them together because he’ll be competing with Moore and Samuel at Z (and both can play Y too). Plus he’ll have competition from Shakir (slot) and Kincaid (big slot) at Y. So the bad news for Coleman is at his best shot at playing time is probably X, where he is the least well suited, and the slot position, where he is best suited, is the most crowded. The good news for the Bills is that the WR corps is deep everywhere except X and that won’t matter much if Palmer comes through. As for what Coleman needs to do developmentally, I’d recommend watching Steve Smith’s breakdown posted by @Starr Almighty
  21. I guess it would’ve been just as easy for the Bills to have drafted McConkey and played him out of position on the outside as it was for them to draft Coleman to play him out of position on the outside. That’s where the “no slot WR” argument falls on its face. McConkey wasn’t a fit because he’s a slot WR. Okay. Fine. Reasonable argument there. But then taking a Big Slot in Coleman is not justifiable either. It fails the same test.
  22. WRs with the profile of Coleman and Boldin almost never succeed in the NFL. But on the rare occasions that they do, they are among the best in the league. Boldin was such a player IMO. Personally, I always loved watching him play and think he should have already been elected to the Football HoF. I hope he makes it this year. As for comparisons, Boldin has some abilities that we haven’t seen from Coleman yet. Boldin’s hands were phenomenal, even in contested catch situations. We’ve seen glimpses from Coleman, but overall there hasn’t been much to get excited about. He certainly doesn’t attack the ball like Boldin did. It’s early, but toughness is another area when they don’t compare. Boldin was legendary for his toughness. If you think that’s hyperbole, here’s an example: September 2008, during a Week 4 game against the Jets. After hauling in a pass between defenders, Boldin took a helmet-to-helmet shot from safety Eric Smith that left him with a fractured sinus membrane and required surgery and seven plates and 40 screws in his head. Boldin missed the Cardinals’ next two games; in his first three back, he scored five touchdowns. LINK That’s a short article worth reading. Now compare that to what happened with Coleman last season. Boldin is a Gold Standard for WRs with that profile. It would be amazing to see Coleman get anywhere near that ballpark, but he has a very, very long way to go. For those who look at his RAS and wonder why he isn’t more dominant, remember RAS only uses supplied data to calculate the score. If a player doesn’t do a drill, it doesn’t get counted in any way. So you can all probably guess how many players do a drill they won’t score well at. Coleman skipped a bunch of them. Where he did score well is with size and explosion. That’s not nothing. Beane & Co were looking for a WR that could run short routes and break tackles for YAC. He can do that. They also wanted that player to be able to win downfield with at least some contested catch ability. Not great returns there yet, but I’m sure that was the thinking. Many of us saw him as a Big Slot WR (Boldin played almost exclusively on the outside, with only 16% of snaps from the slot) and he’s proven that to be correct, so far at least. The book isn’t written on the kid, but he has a very long way to go. And slot on the Bills is already crowded.
  23. This and it’s become common practice for premium tickets for games, concerts, etc. to be put directly on secondary markets by the original sellers (teams, performers, etc.). This shields them from much of the criticism they would get from charging those prices directly because it looks like it’s the secondary market jacking up the prices. They can claim that the face value of their tickets is reasonable, but fans don’t actually have a chance at getting the tickets at those prices. It’s not a stretch to say that Josh Allen built the new stadium.
