I don't think it's been discussed too much, but Schmidt has done a pretty darn good job punting the ball this year! Certainly an upgrade for our special teams. Also, didn't realize how shredded he was. Our punter can beat up your punter, <insert team> -
When Kiko comes back, what's your plan for our LBs?
DC Greg replied to JÂy RÛßeÒ's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
When Kiko returns, we can trade them all. Their services will no longer be required. Kiko = Sam, Mike, Will, Alpha, and Omega. -

Hey, Romo for president?? Who are you anyways? If you like the Cowboys QB, you don't like Buffalo. And if you don't like Buffalo, you don't love America. And if you don't love 'Merica, you can GIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIT OUT -

Orton-Biden 2016!!! A ticket for the working man! -
I can't cheer a loss, no matter how hard I try... but some small part of me is thanking the football gods that EJ didn't suck his way out of a loss vs. Houston and manage to keep his tentative hold on the job. Making the change at QB is by far the best thing that's happened to this team so far this year. Orton has been very solid. Wishing EJ the best. Maybe time on the bench will help... I'm doubtful, but who knows. In the meantime, Kyle Orton is the undisputed starting quarterback for the Buffalo Bills. GO KO! GO BILLS!

It was a rookie mistake. Anyone who's trying to pile on our superstar about it needs to BTFO because this kid is amazing, and we are lucky to have him. If you are doing anything but cheering him on you are a fool. Let the coaches handle the celebration thing. In the meantime, just cheer for him because... Sammy.

Hackett is bad, like very bad
DC Greg replied to Clippers of Nfl's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
My "unseen scenario," is also known as the West Coast offense, which, again, almost every successful NFL offense utilizes more than the Bills do in the NFL. This big scary concept is actually remarkably simple. Any receiver, player, coach in the NFL who knows a route tree can run it. They could add in these plays in pregame and they could run it. The trick is using it successfully in the best scenarios and situations, especially early downs. I firmly believe it would help our line, rather than expose it, if used effectively. -

I'm oversimplifying for the sake of brevity. I think we should spread it out MORE OFTEN. Not every play. I think a lot of what our O does can be successful, has been successful, and would be even more successful if we incorporated even 15% more West Coast style especially on first and second down Open running lanes by taking guys out of the box, create the easier matchups with linebackers on slot receivers while linebackers are in on 1 and 2 down before they go to nickel/dime in 2 or 3 and long. I'm not saying run five wides every play. Orton would be a corpse. But there are situations, especially early down situations, where spreading the field looks like it could be a more effective position for out O. -

Almost everyone DOES DO IT. Significantly more than the bills. You see far more 3 and 4 WR sets than you do double tight ends or I formation backs. Of course it can't be every play. The point is we almost NEVER do it, and I, for one, think we should do it more. -
WTF is a Phillip Tanner? Edit: Oh snap! He was that guy that got his helmet tore off and ran for a TD in the preseason a couple years ago. Nice!

Exactly. If you spread it out, they HAVE to send more out to cover those guys. If they don't, it's pitch and catch for 6-7 yard gains well before a pass rusher can get there. -
Bombs away Sammy. Do ya thing, cuz!

I think this is on point. I just don't understand why we don't spread it out more. The talent is with our WR's. To folks who think the dual tight end sets are good because it brings more blockers to help Orton... hello, if you split people out they have to cover them. Removes potential pass rushers from the box. If they blitz let Orton read it and get the ball out to hot routes. I trust him to make hot route reads. Spread it out, clear out the box. Didn't understand why we NEVER did that to create more natural lanes for Spiller and even Jackson (now Brown, because he's that type of runner too). Don't understand why we don't do that to force linebackers or nickel/dime back scrubs to cover 4 (or 5) talented WRs. Don't understand why there were never middle screens in the game plan for Spiller or bubble screens for Watkins. There have been some good things, but these things just baffle me. Most successful teams do these things, at least most of the time, if they have the type of playmakers we do. We NEVER do these things, because NH is just so in love with the two tight end set and his bunch trips WR formations. Trying to be too damn clever for his own good. Everything does not have to be game planned to death, Nate. Line up shotgun 4 WR, one RB to block (or dump to). Every team utilizes West coast philosophies to a greater extent than we do, especially the best ones. I don't understand why he is so stubborn on not using basic tools. Is it his ego? Does he feel he has to revolutionize the NFL? -
I expect the offense to improve significantly...
DC Greg replied to eball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Should be a lot of quick slants/outs to Watkins/Woods this week. Can start with the short passes and hopefully set up some out and ups for big gainers. And, hello... Earth to Nate... is it time to run a bubble screen to Sammy yet? You know, the thing that made him a star at Clemson? -
Did anyone catch Marrone in his post game presser mention that "It's hard to win in the NFL". Couldn't help but chuckle a little bit.
-
Here's another observation... did anyone else notice the entire offensive series (it was a three and out) where Orton didn't snap his chinstrap... for 3 straight plays??? How do the refs not notice that? So dangerous! He so lucky he didn't get sacked on those plays. That bonnet woulda popped right off.
-
I see them about the same, but I worry that the factor holding us back from being 9-7 or maybe 10-6 is the coaching. That's just how I see it, and that's tough to swallow. That people who aren't blocking or tackling may be costing you games. Just my opinion.

We actually should still have two serviceable backs in Dixon and Brown. I don't see the need to get desperate at this point.

CJ Spiller; surgery for a broken collar bone WGR
DC Greg replied to boyst's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Well, my memory will be him busting off a CJ Spiller style run around the outside, like a boss. Too bad for him. Glad he reminded everyone of his talent on that run. Hope he's not gone. -
I'd hardly say I'm "embarrassed" about winning, but this game concerns me greatly. I keep hoping a win like this will wake this team up and show them how to get better each and every week. Hopefully it's true and they keep moving. Our coaches though... Marrone once again showed awful clock management and situational awareness. Hackett's abysmal play calling was on full display. The penalties continue to pile up. And our safeties couldn't tackle at all in the open field today. Again, I hope the team can overcome. Can't help feeling like a more competent coaching staff could be getting more out of this team. Oh, and god the offensive line is horrible. But we won, so on to another week. A lot of losses around the AFC that helped us out. Go Bills.
