Per Rotoworld Chad Simpson Has Been Released!
Brandon replied to Steely Dan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
With three quality RBs, I don't see the necessity of it. Its not like you can't find one off a practice squad if you absolutely had to. -

I doubt Bell makes the final roster, either. He probably deserves to be on an NFL roster, mind you, but I can't see the Bills carrying four. -
Whats everyones surprise cuts???
Brandon replied to billsfan_34's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't know that any of these would qualify as surprises, but I think these will be the notable cuts: James Hardy Spencer Johnson One of Aaron Maybin or Chris Kelsay Both Joique Bell and Chad Simpson Hardy seems like a pretty obvious cut to me at this point and despite all of the hype, I don't think they'll keep either RB. The only two that could even be considered as possible surprises are Spencer Johnson...especially if, as I expect, McCargo makes the team...and one of the LBs. Kelsay is more likely to be cut than Maybin, but they have so many LBs, particularly OLBs, that someone notable could very well get canned when the final cuts are made. -
They're uploaded at 6AM EST the next morning, as far as I can tell. I just signed up a few days ago, so we'll see.

Preseason 3 "Gameday" thread Cincy @ Buffalo
Brandon replied to Skoobydum's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
For whatever reason, he just wasn't very productive at Florida. He only had 46 catches in four years, and 25 of those came this past season. -
That pretty much goes back to what I said earlier. There's just a handful of plays separating the two, and given more playing time, the numbers might look vastly different. I'm not convinced that Brohm is ever going to amount to anything, but the hatred of the guy seems a bit misplaced. This week's game versus the Colts was the first time with the Bills that he's had the benefit of being properly prepared when he stepped onto the field for this team and the truth is, he played well. Not perfect by any means, nor am I arguing that he should be starting, but I've seen a hell of a lot worse out of Bills QBs over the last decade, including from the guy starting right now.
-
I guess that's one spin you can put on it. On the other hand, Brohm had been signed in the middle of the season (Nov.19th) and was forced to start due to injury on Dec.27th. I don't think anyone would argue that Brohm was properly prepared for that game given the circumstances, including Perry Fewell. In fact, he said as much: Link
-
The only thing that it might say is that Brohm wasn't quite as ready for the NFL when he was drafted in 2008 as was believed. The statistical argument about TDs and interceptions really doesn't hold much weight to me because, in the end, its a difference in the outcome of just four pass attempts. I don't think Brohm has done anything to earn a starting job or anything (although I'll be honest, I don't think any of the Bills QBs *deserve* to start at this point), but I don't understand the hatred, either. I thought he played pretty well against the Colts. He seems to be a guy with a good arm and who shows signs of having a very good feel for anticipating coverage and gets the ball to his receiver on time. He looks like a pretty good developmental prospect to me and a guy with some starting potential if he continues improving. I expect him to make the roster as the backup to Edwards with Brown as the #3.

At what point do you cut your losses with Maybin?
Brandon replied to DIE HARD 1967's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Its just like any other player. He can have all the athletic ability in the world, but if he's an awful football player and shows no real sign of improving, at some point the cost of keeping him on the roster starts to outweigh that potential. Are we to that point yet with Maybin? In my opinion, probably not, but given that this is a new staff, I think he really needs to show he can play sooner rather than later. -
Its really not that surprising. Fitz simply has far more regular season experience than Brohm has. Fitz is entering his 6th NFL season and has over 700 regular season pass attempts on his resume. Brohm is entering his 3rd year and has only thrown 29 passes to this point. I would expect Fitz to be ahead of Brohm and be more capable of turning nothing into something.
-
Exactly. Yeah, it was a nice pass. BFD. He's thrown a few before on occasion. The question is, can he consistently play well over the course of a 16 game season and when we're not judging him on one pass, but on the basis of about 500? I hope he can, but based upon his past, I have my doubts.

I don't think its really even that difficult of a decision. The only thing Hardy really gives them that Chad Jackson doesn't is height, but even that advantage has been largely negated by the additions at the WR position this offseason. Eight of the ten WRs on the roster are at least six feet tall. Considering that Jackson is a more talented overall prospect and that, by most all accounts, he's clearly outperforming Hardy in practice, I think the writing is on the wall should it come down to a choice between those two. If they want a WR with Hardy's height, they can always keep David Nelson on the practice squad, plus they could even use Shawn Nelson outside some as well.

I never had any faith or hope in this administration to begin with. I always expected this bunch to be horrible and in that respect, they haven't disappointed.

Its not a states' rights issue, or at least, it shouldn't be. The 10th amendment doesn't override the rest of the Constitution, including amendments. If it did, states would also have a right to suspend all of the other rights and protections for citizens that are specifically enumerated in the Constitution and Bill of Rights. I don't think anyone believes the states can do that.

Is Evans a #1 on the Bills and a #2 anywhere else?
Brandon replied to MClem06's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Rather than the problem, I suspect that Lee Evans is actually the biggest victim of this sorry excuse of a passing game. With a decent QB and coaching that would use him to his strengths, I don't think we'd be having this discussion. Just look at his 2006 season to see what he's capable of. As someone said earlier, he can't throw the ball to himself. -
Blanche Lincoln (Arkansas Senator) Wins Primary...
Brandon replied to OCinBuffalo's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Yes. Now that you mention it, though, I think you can only vote a party's runoff election if you also voted in their primary. I've never voted in a runoff election, so I'm not entirely sure about that. -
Blanche Lincoln (Arkansas Senator) Wins Primary...
Brandon replied to OCinBuffalo's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
I live in Arkansas, and although I can't stand her, I'm glad she won. My biggest worry is that Halter might actually have been able to convince these idiots to vote for him this fall, but I'm pretty sure that ol' Blanche has worn out her welcome. -
The Bills offense has been truly awful in recent years, but as much as I'd like to, I can't blame Dick Jauron for all of it. The Bills have finished no better than 25th in total offense for the last seven years. They've been 23rd or worse in scoring in six of those seven years, and the one exception, 2004, was a fluke. This crap started in Gregg Williams' final year in 2003. They were 30th in both yardage and scoring that year.

Woman fired from CitiBank for "being too hot"
Brandon replied to DrDawkinstein's topic in Off the Wall Archives
If I had to guess, she wasn't fired because she was 'just SOOOO hot.' Yeah, she's attractive, but then again, I've seen better in this rural town of 4,000 I live in on more than a few occasions. Nah, I'd guess that her 'look at me, look at me!' attitude made her impossible to work with. -
I'd Rather Be Judged By 12
Brandon replied to HereComesTheReignAgain's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Everyone knows that only politicians and celebrities deserve the right to self defense. Its a sad day in this country when an 80 year old man potentially faces prosecution for defending himself and his wife from an armed intruder. -
They did in '06 and the truth is, he played reasonably well. Not at a pro bowl level, mind you, but it was arguably the 2nd best season by a Bills QB in about a decade. That's a bit of a backhanded compliment, but they've proven they can do worse at the QB position. And as to whether or not Dick and the merry band of morons ever gave him a real shot, as a reward for Losman's halfway decent season, the Bills drafted Trent Edwards rather than use that 3rd round pick on offensive line help or receivers.

I've never said that Flutie should be blamed for a fumble by Eric Moulds or a penalty committed by Andre Reed. As for that Flutie fumble, however, somehow I doubt you were as generous when someone blew a block that led to Rob Johnson being sacked. I'm not going to say that there's no blame on the part of the guys blocking, but in the end, the player who coughs up the ball has plenty of responsibility as well. My initial argument with the other poster was due to his assertion that there's some real difference between one player's effort mistake and another's boneheaded stupidity. I guess that's somewhat true in a Monday morning QB kind of way, but on gameday, the NFL doesn't make a distinction between the two. A fumble is a fumble. An interception is an interception. It doesn't matter why it happened. The NFL doesn't award you the ball back because you were trying hard when you fumbled the ball away to the opposing team unless your name happens to be Tom Brady.
-
Absolutely. Like I said, Doug's turnovers aren't his fault, they're someone else's. Always.
-
Sure, it makes perfect sense now. Doug's turnovers don't matter in the same way everyone else's does. You need to petition the NFL about this outrage. Last I checked, they don't give a sh*t why you turned the ball over. They have the audacity to consider a turnover to be a turnover, regardless of whether its a 'normal, par for the course mistake' or a 'dumb ass, mental show off, ego mistake'. Its an unbelievable travesty.
-
That's because it was never Dougie's fault when they lost. Ever. No matter how many mistakes he made, it was always someone else's fault.
