  1. Definitely. As fast as that card went up, I think its clear they were looking for a playmaker on offense all along.
  2. Agreed. I have nothing against Spiller, in fact, I think he's going to be a very good player. I just question whether he's that much better than what the Bills already had. Maybe you make a pick like this when you're 10-6 and ascending, but at rock bottom, with holes everywhere except at RB? I don't absolutely hate the pick...there's a chance he could be a great player, and I'll take that any day, but there's also a better than decent chance that he'll just be a 'very good' player, and we already have that.
  3. Just wait until the Bills trade UP to take a QB. Get ready...you can say goodbye that 1st round pick in 2011.
  4. That's about what I'm expecting: St.Louis - Bradford Detroit - Suh Tampa Bay - McCoy Washington - Trent Williams Kansas City - Berry Seattle - Okung Cleveland - Morgan Oakland - Iupati
  5. True, but consider one of the other possibilities on the table: drafting Spiller at #9. There's no signing bonus involved in trading for McFadden, potentially making that move a significantly cheaper alternative to drafting Spiller, assuming no roster bonuses are due.
  6. Not buying it. I'm sure that some team may have told Tebow that, but I'm sure its BS. Every team in the league keeps its draft board under lock and key and only accessible to senior members of their front office prior and during the draft. Why in the world would they tell any 22 year old kid, no matter his character, when they're going to draft him? Surprise, surprise...the college kid can't keep his mouth shut. Nah, some team is just telling Tebow and his agent something that they want to be repeated. They're just using him.
  7. True, but the Raiders aren't real bright and have a long history of bringing in guys with problems elsewhere. Plus, its a trade that saves Al Davis several million dollars in base salary. If he gets out of line, they can just cut him and they're not out a whole lot. McFadden probably isn't going to bring a whole lot in a trade otherwise, given his own struggles.
  8. I'm going to go way out on a limb and say that if Marshawn gets traded, it will be to his hometown of Oakland. In exchange, the Bills would get Darren McFadden, who is rumored to be on the trading block and who would also be a much better fit in an offense like Gailey's that spreads the field than in Oakland. Both teams and both players benefit. The one catch is money, but without the signing bonus to worry about, I'd guess that McFadden would be cheaper than drafting Spiller at 9.
  9. To my knowledge, he's not a scout. He just has some very good connections throughout the league and that's the reason his mock drafts tend to be more accurate than anyone else's.
  10. I mainly just disagree with the idea of investing in more RBs. If they get rid of Lynch, it makes more sense, but right now, I think another RB could have a hard time getting on the field for anything beyond return duty. I think its a more efficient use of resources to go for the WR instead. That 2nd WR spot is wide open right now and the guys we currently have aren't much. I think there's a very good chance that a high round rookie WR could start at that position on opening day despite the adjustment period and be an immediate upgrade, just because they're so bad at WR outside of Lee Evans. If the OL still stinks, just let Trent FitzBrohm take the beating this year until you can improve it in the next draft. Although I don't think the Bills will do it, I would argue that they'd be better off 2-3 years down the road drafting Clausen in R1 and their choice of WR in R2. I'd rather draft the guys that may need development time now at the beginning of the rebuilding process and when you know the entire team sucks than a couple of years from now when those positions would drag an otherwise competitive team down into the toilet.
  11. I absolutely agree. This team is in desperate need of playmakers, especially on offense. I can understand their interest in Spiller, but instead of using the 9th overall pick at RB, something I don't think I could agree with, I'd much rather they try to find a starting WR in round 2 if they're looking for that playmaker early.
  12. I think I'll have to pass on that one. I just don't see enough starting potential with McCoy to even warrant using their current 2nd rounder, much less betting the farm to move back into round 1 for him.
  13. As long as I don't hear the words 'Buffalo Bills' and 'kicker', 'punter', or 'defensive back' in the same sentence, I don't think I'll be too upset. This team is in the beginning stages of a major rebuild and, barring a miss on the individual player, just about any position they take will be of major benefit in a year or two at a time when they should be in a more competitive state than they are right now.
  14. True, but with this roster, I don't think that's much of an issue for the Bills. They need major help at virtually every position on both sides of the ball. BPA will likely fill a 'great need' for this team.
  15. Not really. There's never a guarantee that player will actually be the pick. That happened to Brady Quinn a few times the year he was drafted, if memory serves. And like everyone else, the only thing that bothered me about last year was the fact that they picked Maybin. Yikes.
  16. I knew there was a reason that I didn't miss not having ABC on my satellite subscription. They're morons. Heck, they need to give people some incentive to watch their crap shows, even if its just for the commercials.
  17. Don't get your hopes up for that. They'll use every minute of it. Its basically 10 minutes of free national advertising for the teams, courtesy of the networks.
  18. For my part, I'm not really all that sold on any one pick at 9, either, 1billsfan. Looking to the past, however, I think Ralph will be pushing Nix to draft that first round QB, and as long as Nix and Modrak view Clausen as a legitimate first round QB prospect, I think he'll probably end up being the pick.
  19. Could be worse. They could take another defensive back.
  20. I wouldn't be completely shocked if the Rams take a pass on Bradford, but if they do, I don't think he'll fall to #9. At worst, Cleveland or Oakland would probably pick him at 7 or 8, but more likely, someone would move up into the top 5 to pick him.
  21. Jimmy Clausen
  22. I'm not arguing that they should abandon the run. Its an important piece of the offense, but if you can't throw the ball when you need to and struggle to average even a measly 15 points per game, the odds of winning, particularly on a year-to-year basis, are not so good. The Bills have proven this conclusively over the last decade.
  23. Agreed, but big plays are the key. That's what's necessary to score points and win in the NFL these days. That said, its a hell of a lot easier to generate 20+ yard gains with the passing game than the run. Unfortunately, I'm not sure the Bills get it even now. Its no great coincidence that they've been losing while also fielding arguably the worst passing attack in the NFL since 2003.
  24. 1) QB Jimmy Clausen, Notre Dame 2) OT Charles Brown, USC 3) DT Cam Thomas, North Carolina 4) OLB Jason Worilds, Virginia Tech 5) WR Jeremy Williams, Tulane 6) ILB Phillip Dillard, Nebraska 6) DT Jay Ross, East Carolina 7) WR David Gettis, Baylor 7) OC Jeff Byers, USC
  25. All the rumors about their interest in Tebow would seem intended to obscure their interest in another QB and to make it appear as though they're targeting the position in R2 or 3, not at #9. I'm not buying it. At this point, yes, I think Clausen will be the Bills' first pick.
