  1. They did in '06 and the truth is, he played reasonably well. Not at a pro bowl level, mind you, but it was arguably the 2nd best season by a Bills QB in about a decade. That's a bit of a backhanded compliment, but they've proven they can do worse at the QB position. And as to whether or not Dick and the merry band of morons ever gave him a real shot, as a reward for Losman's halfway decent season, the Bills drafted Trent Edwards rather than use that 3rd round pick on offensive line help or receivers.
  2. I've never said that Flutie should be blamed for a fumble by Eric Moulds or a penalty committed by Andre Reed. As for that Flutie fumble, however, somehow I doubt you were as generous when someone blew a block that led to Rob Johnson being sacked. I'm not going to say that there's no blame on the part of the guys blocking, but in the end, the player who coughs up the ball has plenty of responsibility as well. My initial argument with the other poster was due to his assertion that there's some real difference between one player's effort mistake and another's boneheaded stupidity. I guess that's somewhat true in a Monday morning QB kind of way, but on gameday, the NFL doesn't make a distinction between the two. A fumble is a fumble. An interception is an interception. It doesn't matter why it happened. The NFL doesn't award you the ball back because you were trying hard when you fumbled the ball away to the opposing team unless your name happens to be Tom Brady.
  3. Absolutely. Like I said, Doug's turnovers aren't his fault, they're someone else's. Always.
  4. Sure, it makes perfect sense now. Doug's turnovers don't matter in the same way everyone else's does. You need to petition the NFL about this outrage. Last I checked, they don't give a sh*t why you turned the ball over. They have the audacity to consider a turnover to be a turnover, regardless of whether its a 'normal, par for the course mistake' or a 'dumb ass, mental show off, ego mistake'. Its an unbelievable travesty.
  5. That's because it was never Dougie's fault when they lost. Ever. No matter how many mistakes he made, it was always someone else's fault.
  6. I don't know about that. Just glancing at his website, he's pro-life, pro-2nd amendment, against Obamacare, in favor of oil drilling and against cap-and-trade. Looks like a conservative won that seat to me.
  7. Actually, that one is headed for a runoff, which I expect her to win. I have to say, I'm really looking forward to the chance to vote against her in the general election this fall. Can't stand her.
  8. I'm not surprised he hasn't been signed. I can't imagine that there is any great market for WRs who are 30 years old, undersized, and slow....not to mention who have a career resume that includes such highlights as having never had even 600 yards receiving in a single season or more than two TD receptions.
  9. Not just no, but hell no.
  10. If they wanted Tony Pike they had numerous opportunities to draft him. Seems to me that the Bills just didn't want Tony Pike.
  11. And let me tell ya, the media has got it all figured out. Yes sir.
  12. Well, since my first choice got picked... OT Kyle Calloway or WR Carlton Mitchell
  13. Arthur Jones, DE Syracuse
  14. Not at all. They desperately needed a playmaker offensively and got one with Spiller. They got a good NT prospect and a good DE prospect. They needed both. In round 4, they picked a project at WR, but a very talented one at a position where they have no proven talent behind Lee Evans. Sure, they need OL and QB help, but they couldn't fill every hole in this draft and there's no reason to draft a mediocre prospect at those positions just to make the fans feel better.
  15. Nor should they be. I'm not going to advocate that the Bills should cut them, but they've done absolutely nothing to this point to deserve the free pass that many seem to give them.
  16. I can't argue with it. Its not like they don't need help at that position. Easley didn't produce until his senior year, but 6'3 210lb WRs who run a 4.39 don't grow on trees. Worth the risk in R4 for a WR-deficient team, IMO.
  17. 1) NT Cam Thomas 2) OLB Eric Norwood 3) TE Dennis Pitta 4) DE CJ Wilson 5) WR Carlton Mitchell
  18. I have to say, I do like this pick. Then again, I'm biased.
  19. I like the pick a lot. Everything I've read indicates that he's a good, strong run defender at the NT position. I can't argue with that at all.
  20. I wouldn't go quite that far. It may simply say something of their opinion of the OTs that they've had the opportunity to draft and instead passed on.
  21. There's still plenty of opportunity to get that NT, though. There are still four or five very solid prospects out there. If the run doesn't start before 41, I wouldn't be surprised if they wait until 72 and still get a good one. I'm not entirely sure they feel there is an immediate contributor available at LT other than the top 2 guys. As for the WR corps, Evans is obviously a keeper, but I don't think they're going to be overly interested in tying themselves to struggling picks and a failed passing game of the previous staff. Plus, there's an added benefit to drafting that WR now: you get a year's head start on his development early in the rebuilding process when, realistically, you aren't going to be overly competitive as a team, anyway.
  22. I think it may have been Demaryius Thomas, hoping to add even more playmaking ability to the offense. And I don't think that will be their last major attempt at it in this draft, either.
  23. The attitude questions may be hurting him, but for all the talk of Clausen being so well coaching, its strange that its something else that may be hurting him as well. I think there may be some concerns that Clausen has been so well coached that there's little potential left, that he's basically maxed out and is as good as he's ever going to be.
