  1. Most likely, yes. It reminds me of people touting the UK's statistics on gun crime since their ban. Sure, its low. But the question no one ever asks is what that their homicide rates were *prior* to the ban. And, of course, they were almost identical. The point simply being, the UK never really had a problem to begin with and I suspect that's true in a lot of these cases with foreign nations.
  2. I agree that there's always the possibility of a lunatic in the security positions. You'll never be able to completely eliminate that as a possibility, but I think one way to reduce the risk is to subject them to quarterly or semi-annual psychological evaluations for as long as they're employed in that position. Not only that, but we need to have fairly high standards for qualifications and also ensure that they're relatively well-paid and don't have added financial stresses in their lives.
  3. Its just my two cents, but I think one immediate solution is actually rather simple. The government needs to mandate armed security at our schools. If it takes raising a tax in order to pay for it, this conservative says: so be it. Two at each entrance and a few walking the halls. Its sad that its come to this, but I think it would be even worse to start stripping away the rights of everyone when the problem lies at the feet of a handful of lunatics.
  4. The pass was pretty high, anyway. The NE DB had to jump for it, so even if Graham had undercut that DB, I'm not sure he could've gotten to it.
  5. Forget it. Ralph won't spend on a coach. If they fire Chan, you'll get another third rate has-been or some mediocre coordinator to be HC.
  6. Who needs a QB? Everyone knows the forward pass is just a gimmick and never catch on. We're gonna run and play defense all the way to the Super Bowl! Sigh...
  7. That's pretty much how I feel about it as well. That would be the quickest way to end my interest in this team.
  8. I started reading the books a couple of months ago and am currently about halfway through #4. You should definitely read them. There's far more depth there than they get into with the series, not to mention that they're better.
  9. That's pretty much my thinking on Kelsay as well. He's usually been the 5th or 6th best player on some bad Bills defenses. That's not a ringing endorsement. He's not terrible, but I have a hard time believing he's anything more than an average starting DE. I certainly don't understand this recent push to make him out to be some key component of the Bills D over the years. He's been an OK player, but that's about it.
  10. There's nothing wrong with adding some depth along the offensive line. I like it, its a solid late pick and my guess is that he probably would've went a little higher if not for his age.
  11. This is the first one that I've been underwhelmed with. But yeah, its just a fifth. I'm not that worried about it.
  12. I guess Moats, Batten and White needed some company on the sideline? OK, so I don't hate it, I just kinda think...meh. Oh well, its the 5th round.
  13. I'm not going to disagree. Mayock may be better than anything ESPN has, but overall, NFL network's coverage has been underwhelming the last couple of years. I think I'm going to watch ESPN's coverage today for a change.
  14. No, but I don't think drafting Glenn cost them a shot at that LT, either. I don't think anyone else on the board stood much of a chance of being an instant upgrade at LT and under those circumstances, the next best thing is an upgrade at one of the other OL spots. And I'm not completely writing off the possibility of Glenn becoming a solid LT, either.
  15. I don't think I would bother. There are still prospects out there at other positions who could potentially come in and contribute something this season to the team, and I'd rather have that than a fairly ordinary QB prospect.
  16. There still appear to be several good WR and CB prospects available. I expect we'll take another of each by the end of R5. Given how thin they still are at OT, I would expect another addition there as well, and there are a few good ones still out there. OLB is an obvious need, but its looking pretty thin at this point, as well as at QB. A few possibilities for R4 and R5? WR Marvin Jones WR Nick Toon WR Marvin McNutt WR Greg Childs LB Nigel Bradham OL James Brown OT Tom Compton OC Phillip Blake QB Ryan Lindley QB Kirk Cousins Probably 8-10 CBs.
  17. Mayock didn't like Glenn because he doesn't think he has the feet to play LT. Fair enough, I think, but we'll see. For my part, I don't care if he ends up at RG or RT. They're still getting a really good prospect who will help them and be an upgrade up front.
  18. I like Mayock, but I don't take his word as the gospel. The funny thing about guys like Mayock and Kiper, no one ever holds them accountable for their misses. They have plently of them, too.
  19. I think they still would have taken Gilmore. I haven't got the stats in front of me, but I'd guess that a 3rd CB is on the field for 60-70% of the snaps. The 3rd LB usually comes out to make room, and that makes him less valuable, especially when the other two LB spots are apparently locked down with Barnett and Sheppard.
  20. I can't complain. I'm not crazy about CBs in R1, but Gilmore was a solid pick and should be a good player at a position of need. I don't know if Cordy Glenn will be a LT or not, but I'm not sure I care, either. He'll be a quality starter at RG or RT even if he doesn't make it at LT, and that's perfectly fine with me. As for TJ Graham, yeah, I expected him to go a couple of rounds later than he did, but I'm not stupid enough to claim I know more about a somewhat obscure draft prospect than the Bills scouts. If they think he's worth a 3rd, maybe he was. I'm willing to give them, and Graham, the benefit of the doubt. The same ones complaining about Graham now would have been screaming 'REAAAACCCHHH!!!' had the Bills selected Steve Johnson in the 3rd round back in '08. Of course, we all know differently now, don't we?
  21. No, no, no. As I learned in the shoutbox last night, you have it all wrong. The NFL GMs and scouts who actually have the resources to adequately scout virtually *every single player* eligible for this draft, provide an in-depth report on them, and who have far more access to their college programs and coaches probably know less than the draft-tards on the websites who *might* scout the top 150-200, can properly sum up a prospect in one short paragraph, and largely rely on the ever-accurate practice of recycling each other's info.
  22. I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt. He has no shortage of speed or athletic ability necessary for the position and has improved every year. Given their lack of speed at the position and the need for the skillset Roscoe Parrish brought to the offense and return units, I think it makes sense. I think most of the complaints are coming from people who expected them to draft a bigger possession receiver before they'd draft a speed receiver.
  23. I thought WR made more sense for them here, but I like the pick. He may or may not be a LT, but I think he can certainly be a quality OG or even RT.
  24. Way too early, if you believe the draft sites. Most seem to project him in the last three rounds.
  25. Would be a nice addition...with one of those 4th round picks, at the earliest. Honestly, I think a safety in the first three rounds would be a dumb pick for this team.
