  1. I realize the guy is chronologically "old" for football, but it seemed like people were writing him off way too early last season...he was injured last season, and played injured most of the year when he did play. IMO, when Spiller kind of took off, I think Freddie, maybe subconsciously was trying to run a little too much like Spiller, and not himself...he looked awkward the early part of last season, like he had changed his running style a little...he knows himself better than that! I am only surprised he is having such a good season, because I really thought Spiller would be dominating a little more, and taking carries away from the old man.
  2. I drafted Freddie on my fantasy team as a later round afterthought....he has been my best player all season!
  3. The Sabres are pretty much unwatchable at this point...but Thomas Vanek had a pretty sweet goal last night too! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HuabzJWYROw
  4. He can do it! The Buffalo News should have a daily tracker on the upper right hand corner every day, trakcking Myers +/- rating...just like the year OJ got the 2,003 yards! There has to be some reason to watch this team... Vaneks goal last night was a thing of beauty...the rest was hideous...I am officially dropping out on this team until they win two games in a row...the thought of wasting three hours watching them get their asses handed to them by the Blackhawks tomorrow night is more than I can stand. I remember the days when the Sabres offered a reprieve from the Bills inpetitude...the tables have turned, and the Bills are a game under .500! In case you missed it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HuabzJWYROw
  5. The Sting, Part 2... somebody is getting the wool pulled over their eyes, and it isn't even entertaining!
  6. Hope you had a great one Dante!
  7. I picked up Pryor. For whatever reason, I like the kid...and I think the Raiders offense might come alive as the season wares on, with this kid at the helm. Can't remember the last time I had a Raider on my FF team!
  8. Guys...there are two pro sports teams in Buffalo...the Buffalo Sabres and the Buffalo Bills. One radio station, WGR55 carries the games of both teams. They have a 2 hour hockey show Mon-Friday from 10am-12noon....they also have a Buffalo Bills football show from 6pm-8pm Mon-Friday. Do any of you understand why they would talk about hockey, when they have a hockey show? Why do you get your panties in a wad when they aren't talking about something you are interested in. I listen from about 8am-5pm most every day at work...then I stream the John Murhphy show off of BuffaloBills.com Those who claim they don't talk about the Bills either have very selective hearing, or just have to deal with it. I will admit, I don't find hockey an exciting topic in the deep off-season...but I am not their only listener....and neither are you!

  10. Hating Skyler White has become a cottage industry....
  11. I remember when wathcing hockey was fun!
  12. ? Not sure what you are getting at. Are you saying the league is secretly behind the "change the name" movement? It was a pretty powerful piece of work tonight. The NFL certainly does not come off looking very good. Most of the info here has been covered before on HBO's "Inside Sports" over the years... I had never seen the quote from Greg Aiello telling a reporter, of all people, that there is, indeed a link between playing football and ECT, back in 2007. That they can go back and pretend it never happened is inconsicionable to me. The payout (765 million is peanuts in the bigger scheme...the leauge makes billions per season) is sort of a nod and a wink..."here, take this and run along". Roger Goodell has a tough job, but man, I just dislike him more and more every time I hear/see anything about him. Their 785 million dollar payout, while admitting no guilt is just sad. It is a difficult issue....we are all obviously big football fans..but man, I will think twice about voicing the opinion that guys aren't as tough as they used to be.
  13. I knew you would see this! For whoever asked...I have Tom Brady as my QB...he got me a whopping 4.60 points this past week...I could have picked Peyton Manning on draft day...I may never live this one down! Before EJ Manuel got hurt, he actually had more fantasy points in our league than Brady....what a miserable season...so, it is possible my back-up could become a long-term starter at some point... Yes, you are right...I formed my question poorly...why I rarely start threads. I really meant, the rest of the season, which of those three guys is likely to post the best FF numbers the rest of the way. I had Dalton as my back-up last season...he was solid, week in week out...I finally benched Cam Newton in favor of him late in the season...and of course, Newton had a monster game (close to 50pts IIRC)...but Dalton still got his standard 20 pts or so. Andy seems to be having a tough start this season, but it is hard to ignore all the weapons he has on offense. I have also been impressed with Pryor and the Raiders WR's. They really seem to be fighting for him, going after the ball harder than I can recall from Raider receivers in some time. I have seen three of their games this season...don't know that the Raiders make any noise at playoff time, but Pryor is far better than I was lead to believe he ever could be by the "talking heads". Gino has been a little more inconsistant...but when he has been good, he has been very very good. Biggest downside for me, on him, is that he has the same bye-week as Brady...and I don't really know if I trust his receivers. Plus,I am not sure if I can stomach having the QB's from both the Pats and the Jets on my roster....
  14. I watched the first period...up 1-0...tied 1-1 moments later...I think I need a longer Sabres break than this long off-season offered. I flipped it over to the PBS Frontline documentary on the NFL concussion issue...hard to believe, but it was far more entertaining than anything the Sabres have been selling the last couple of season. I see they lost 3-2 in OT. The other night, Miller played lights out in 0-0 game, but, alas, gives up the game winning goal with 1:35 left in regulation. It is getting so tiresome to watch...not blaming Miller at all, but this team, over the last 3 or 4 years must have the record for giving up goals in the final two minutes of a game/period or OT. They just can't stop a team from scoring in those situations...it really is uncanny. I wish I knew how to find stats, if they even exist, on this. I know, this is a rebuilding season....but is it really a rebuild, or just re-arranging the furniture?
  15. Geno Smith Terrell Pryor Andy Dalton Shopping for a backup QB, with EJ hurt. I see upside in all three guys...leaning toward one of them (don't want to divulge which, in case Blue Fire is mining the board), but interested in your opinions.
  16. Is it the dog days of the off-season already?
  17. It doesn't matter, because even if the Sabres don't win a game this season, they will end up losing the lottery and walking away with the 5th pick, or somewhere there abouts. This x100. I was one of those who baught into the "Pegulaville" thing (I just want to believe in something!), but I was sure he would let Darcy go after this past season...it is unfathomable, like you said, this guy is getting yet another chance to !@#$ this thing up. Only three games into the season, and I am already growing weary of watching them...it all just feels the same.
  18. Obama has already compromised himself to death with these folks...why we have a ****ty ACA bill...a bow to big business. They have tried to reapeal it 40 million times...to no avail...they challanged it in the Supreme court...strike two...so now they want to change the reasons for their shutdown. The term "negotiate in good faith" is pretty meaningless unless the notion comes from both sides.
  19. The Republicans keep moving the basket. They need to grow up and deal with the reality of their situation.
  20. Don't deal with hostage takers.
  21. Yeah, I realize she isn't very popular, and her character is pretty unlikeable. But, I think she is there, at this point, to give a face to the heroin racket that seemed to divide some of the OG's back in those days. They are adding layers and textures on to the show. Not my favorite storyline either, but they usually have a nice way of bringing it all together. Not necessarily you Bmore, but if you go back and look at any thread about any tv show on the board, the female lead seems to be loathed by a pretty vocal part of the posters. Now that Margaret is gone (will she be back? Still listed in the opening credits) the hate seems to have jumped from her to the next female who gets the most screen time, Gillian in this case. The show has always had a pre-occupation with female roles during the time. Hers is a story that doesn't get told a lot. Jar-Jar Binks! That made me chuckle!
  22. Sheer stupidity, unless he didn't get hurt.
