Cool...I know the Dead do (or did) a lot of old country classics..never heard this before! I understand rooting for Walt...but to me, he is the worst kind of pos that a person can be...Jesse s analysis of Mr White, in the desert scene from last episode was spot on...Walt is a selfish prick, who manipulates people into thinking he is acting in their best interest, but all along, he is only really concerned about himself. Obviously, when the series starts, he is a decent guy who feels he has to compromise his principles for the well being of his family...so it is easy to feel sympathy...but at some point (my mind is too cluttered to remember the exact moment, maybe Jane) a part of him wants to be recognized for the criminal mastermind that he is...his worries about leaving some money behind for a debt-free legacy took a back seat...the show is so amazingly thought out... -
Ron Jaworski's take on EJ (via Mike & Mike)

But lets face it...that is one of the biggest factors in the outdated model that so many of the "experts" use to grade these guys. -

Yeah...Jaws pretty will every once in a while say something "controversial" about a QB (that is part of his ESPN contractual obligation I am sure) but usually he really is just using a lot of words to say very little...with authority! He lost some credibitly, IMO, when he started taking pay to work with certain young guys...he will hype them up as the "next big thing", but says little when they just turn into the "next big bust".... -
ESPN Radio is awful...

That sucks..but it does explain that pretty extensively in the "agreement" if you read it. Not chastizing you, or trying to be a dick, but when I renewed a few days ago, I read the agreement (for the first time, after having if for about 4 or 5 years now)...I was just curious as to what stipulations they had (if any) about different IP addresses using the same account, or if there was any wording about accesssing the same account from two different IP addresses at the same time...nothing...but lots of stuff warning you that you can't access it outside the US.

Been saying all along...get rid of him...he is a good player, but if he doesn't want to be in Buffalo, and feels 7million dollars is "disrespetful" (or is it 6 mill, either way) and can't bare to be that direspected, !@#$ him. I am almost always on the players' side on these issues, but everything about this situation, from day one with the Byrd camp, has rubbed me the wrong way. It is clear, to me, Byrd has wanted out all along, and wasn't going to settle for anything less...so the Bills were forced to us their only option, the franchise tag. Let Byrd get his big payout from some team in 2014, and then find, in 2015, that he has to agree to a paycut from his new team, or be cut... it is the cycle. After reviewing last season (I forget things more now than I used to, Bills wise) Byrd was a big difference maker in the prime-time game against Miami, and had a great game aganist New England (the close one, that we lost, as opposed to the blow-out), so I don't discount The Giants are in need of a starting safety...get a number 1 for him, and possibly another CB for depth. Hell, see if they will throw in Ryan Nassib...we could use another rookie QB who knows the system!

Pretty bad... for some reason I am not looking forward, as much, to the upcoming NHL season. Was thinking the other day that I might not ante-up for Center Ice this year, because the Sabres were just not very fun to watch most of last season...an awful new uniform is not helping...damn you Terry Pegula!!!

Walt as the ultimate anti-hero... for me, I stopped pulling for him a while ago. Part of what makes this show fascinating (and daring) is that Walt has transformed so far from anyone I can relate too, or have sympathy for. I think, initially, Walts predicament, and our empathy for his character is what draws us in to the story... now I look forward to seeing him get what he deserves...if indeed that happens. If he doesn't though, I am still going to enjoy the hell out of it... Tony Soprano (for me, the greatest tv character of all time) was pretty ruthless too, but I always wanted him to come out on top in the end... Walter, not so much. What makes Walt so vile is the apparent ease with which he can justify whatever ****ty thing he does, so he can sleep at night...Soprano at his worst, resorted to violence, which almost seems quaint to Walt's apparent mastery of manipulation and psychological terrorism. One of the greatest scenes of this current season (maybe the history of the show?) came two episodes ago, when Jesse really puts Mr White in his place...they are out in the desert, Walt trying to convince Jesse to go into Saul's "witness protection" program..."just stop playing me, for like 10 minutes.." great scene. When Walt sits with Jesse and tries to convince him he didn't kill Mike, Walt keeps saying "Jesse, I need you to believe this"... losing Jesse, for Walt, is like the death of Walter White... I think, almost in the end, the reason Walt is so adamant that he would never kill Jesse is not so much some deep pity, or empathy for Jesse... it is more that Jesse has seen Walt at his very worst, and was always his loyal soldier, no matter how much further deep into **** Walt was dragging them... Walt has a need to feel admired and respected by someone....Jesse is the only one who admired or respected him in his Heisenberg persona... if he loses Jesse, Walt just won't be able to live with himself and all the destruction he has created. His son, Walt Jr, still loves him, but he has no idea the monster his father is... You are correct about Sunday...Bills/NFL, "Breaking Bad", and, I will add, the season premiere of "Boardwalk Empire", another one of my personal "elite" tv series... Felina is also a somewhat common Mexican female name... she is the prostitute whose honor the hero is defending in the old Marty Robbins classic ballad "El Paso"... I may be completely wrong, but I seem to remember the name showing up, somewhere along the history of the show...maybe Lydia Rodartes' daughter... can't remember... -

I thought it was the guy from Pawn Stars too! Are we sure it wasn't? There is always stunt casting going on in these shows... I do remember Hank asking about the SD card now that you mention it. Good catch! As somebody observed, earlier in the thread (AJ I think) there is not a lot of unnecessary filler on this show...everything means something....very concise writing. I hear you about "getting to Junior"... but Jesse seems to have a bit of a moral compass, and hurting innocent people seems to be where he draws the line with Mr White. I can't see him going after Walts' children...who know though...the moral compass for every character that Walt comes into contact with seems to go haywire at some point...he finally got to Skylar, and was pointed out, Hank and Marie as well... Some food for thought while making predictions: I heard Ana Gunn being interviewed and without divulging secrets she said, in the end, "everyone gets what they deserve"... I wonder what that means. You would assume Walt goes out in a blaze of gun-fire... -

It is funny, I was kind of the same way... I am normally wrong on all predictions for this show, but I did feel (only after last week) that Jesse and Hank would somehow be working together to take Walter down. I didn't necessarily think Hank would take Jesse to his house... let me ask, the buried money theory is a good one (Jessie does say he knows a "better way" to get Mr White, and money is the root of all this evil), but what makes you think Jesse took the tape? I did find it odd (maybe something went right over my head...I didn't see Uhl take Jesses dope until re-watching last weeks show yesterday, before the new one was on) when, after his video confession, Jesse asks if it "okay to go to the bathroom"? It seemed a bit of a mundane thing to throw into the middle of such a complex story thread...just like Jesse bumping in to Uhl on the way out the door last week....did I miss something again last night? -

OT: The Browns don't have a kicker on their roster
Buftex replied to l< j's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This is a total Belichick move... Right now, the Dolphins coaches are tearing their hair out thinking..."ooh...who is going to kick for the Browns?" -
Saw Public Image in Canada once...Waterloo maybe? People kept spitting on John Lydon (like they used to back in his Pistols days)...he stopped mid-song and said "if another one of you c**ts spits on me, or anyone else in this band, we are leaving...." Sure enough, about a minute later, somebody spits on Lydon, he slams the mic on the stage and walks off...band followed close behind. Whenever Comedy Central has a Chappelle marathon, I can't pry myself away, no matter how late is gettting... the Prince "shirts vs blouses" thing still kills me every time.

My sources tell me that Jeff Tuel may be the opening day starter at QB for the Buffalo Bills..they are saying that EJ Manuel had some sort of "procedure" done on his knee. They say Tuel could become the first undrafted QB to start on opening day in the modern history of the game. Don't kill the messenger...take it FWIW!
-
All along, I knew he would start week 1. The "Tuel manuver" by Marrone was very Belichickian....

Tuel's College Coach Curious to See Him Start
Buftex replied to ChevyVanMiller's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I like Tuel too, but people tend to forget, Trent Edwards was a pre-season phenom his rookie season. Not trying to rationalize anything (maybe a little) but as I recall, that is why so many thought Trent had "it" when he came in for his first regular season appearance for JP, and led them right down the field, for a field goal, as I recall. He played just well enough, for a few more weeks to think that his pre-season performaces were going to start to translate in the "real" games...it just didn't work out that way, for whatever reason. -

While it isn't Vince Gilligan, two of the other creative people behind "Breaking Bad" have a new-ish show on Sundance Channel called "Rectify"...it is really excellent. Not as fast paced and action driven (so far- only one 6 episode season in the books), the acting and dialouge are amazing. It is about a guy who gets off death row after 19 years after new DNA evidence casts doubt on his guilt. It doesn't sound terribly fresh, I know, but it is really good. Definitely has a "Breaking Bad" vibe at times...great cinemtograpy, etc etc
