  1. Stephen A is a basketball guy... and nowadays, he doesn't even seem as knowledgeable about that sport either. He is ESPN's top personality...I used to find him fairly entertaining, but I don't take him too seriously. He is like a Howard Cosell for this century...all bluster, little substance. His job is to create hype and controversy...he's good at it, if you like that sort of thing.
  2. Eh... I think you are trying to make something out of nothing. If you listened to the press conferences after that game, the same reporter (pretty sure it is Jerry Sullivan) was trying to get whoever was speaking to make some sort of inflammatory remark about the guys who were missing because of covid. They all pretty much said some version of what McDermott said...they did a good job of not taking the bait.
  3. The Dick Jauron era was the first, and only time in my years as a Bills fan (which start when I was about 7, in 1972) that I ever seriously considered not watching any more...I loathed those years. If Terrell Owens one season in Buffalo was mostly forgettable, I will always feel a debt of gratitude for him for being the first, and only plahyer to publicly question WTF they were doing on offense. He spoke out, and Jauron was canned that week. TO's best Bills highlight.
  4. Cool! Thanks so much! I guess I wasn't seeing that earlier, because I was "out of market". Now I see it...I was really disappointed. Great to know!
  5. Long story, but I signed up to watch Sabres games too...I had been subscribing to Center Ice for as long as it's been around... when I signed up, I was in Geneva NY... I come to find out that all of the Sabres games are blacked out. I am back in Texas now, and was finally able to watch most of the Sabres/Oilers game last night. Let me ask Mike, in Horseheads, is there any way to watch the Sabres games after they are over? I live in a different time-zone, and it is difficult for me to watch them live, particularly on weekdays...but unless I am missing it, there is no way to access the games, once they are complete?
  6. Sorry about your mother Returntogolry. I have been watching all of the games (except the Texans game, which I attended) with my dying sister, also a big Bills fan. I asked her, when she passes, how will she let me know she is still around? She said the Bills will win the Super Bowl.
  7. Not doubting you...but I was at the game Sunday, and it seemed like Beasley got a ton of applause. Granted, he didn't see a lot of passes but I think he got as much applause during the intros as anyone, except maybe Josh. I am sure the fact that it seems like he is losing some balls to Sanders (his bestie) isn't helping. Some of these guys have incredibly fragile egos. I love the player, but I hate to say it, if he is hearing boos, he kinda brings it on himself to a degree. We all know that guys like Poyer and Ferguson (maybe Josh?) are not vaccinated, but none of them actively sought out to be the spokesperson for a "cause". He asked for the attention, he shouldn't be surprised if he gets some negative feedback for it. I found the comment "I thought Bills fans were supposed to be the best fans" comment to be incredibly immature. Oh well...hopefully this doesn't become a bigger distraction.
  8. I think I am being honest (unless I am forgetting something) when I say I have not turned on ESPN once in years, unless it was for a MNF game, or an Celtics game. Anything else the network has to offer is pretty irrelevant to my enjoyment of sports. If there is anything newsworthy, or of any slight interest to me on ESPN, chances are, somebody here, or on Facebook will share it. I liked PTI, at one point (I like both Wilbon and Kornheiser) but when virtually every show on the network took that format in some form or another, it became unwatchable. EDIT: ok, I will admit, I still watch an occasional 30for30 documentary as well.
  9. No knock on Jim Kelly (still "Mr Buffalo Bill"), but prior to the season Allen had in 2020, I don't know that any Bills QB in my lifetime put together a better 8 game stretch than Bledsoe had in 2002. He made throws that very few QB's could make... that pass to Peerless Price in OT of that Vikings game is still, for me, one of the prettiest passes I have ever seen... too bad we didn't get him a year or two earlier. The game was a little different then, than it is today.
  10. I pulled the trigger on the trade...my running back depth is not great: Christian McAffrey (Panthers) Javonte Williams (Broncos) Kenyan Drake (Raiders) Tarik Cohen (Bears) If McAffrey were to miss any time, I would be kinda screwed at the position. I like the rest of my roster, but as usual, work horse running backs are hard to find. I got the first pick in the draft...that has happened two other times for me in my league, and both times (Saquaon Barkley and Ezekiel Elliot) , the first pick ended up missing all, or most of the season. I had intended to pick Hubbard in the 15th round (17 round draft) but somebody two picks ahead of me snatched him...no doubt figuring out my strategy! I hate having the #1 pick...I prefer somewhere in that 6-9 range! In a snake draft, you still get two upper echelon players...but with #1, the premium players (especially RB) are gone by the time you get your second pick at #24.
  11. That, and DiNuccis' (sp?) reactions' to his interceptions! For some reason, I honest to god laughed out loud when he tossed it up, under pressure...gets slammed to the ground, looks down field to see the pick-six he just threw and says "Really?" That was good stuff!
  12. Is it me, or does Zeke seem like an extra dim bulb?
  13. I have been offered the following trade: I give up Logan Thomas (TE-WFT) I get Robert Tonyan (TE- Green Bay) Chuba Hubbard (RB- Carolina) I have Christian McAffery as my #1 RB...but my RB depth drops a pretty considerably after that. If he gets injured, I am screwed...unless Hubbard proves to be a good back-up. Most "experts" have Logan Thomas ranked as the #7 or 8 tight end for this season. I would be giving him up for Tonyan, who most rank in the 11-15 range. I also have Irv Smith (TE-Minnesota) who is somewhere around the same as Tonyan. Is the possible drop-off in TE talent worth sacrificing for the security blanket (handcuff) that Hubbard could give me? Am I overthinking this?
  14. Sorry, slightly off topic, but I don't want to start a whole new thread. Does anyone here live in the Geneva NY area? It is Ontario county. Is that Bills territory, as far as TV games broadcast on Sunday afternoons, during football regular season?
  15. BTW- the Bills/Bears game is set to rebroadcast today (8/25) at 1pm eastern, according to the NFLN crawl.
  16. Actually, I thought the guys who did the Bears game were pretty decent. Jim Miller spoke pretty fluently about the Bills, beyond just the obvious Trubisky/Bears relationship. The Lions broadcast team was definitely not very knowledgeable about the Bills, and spoke primarily about the Lions on every play.
  17. You can try, but you can't replace Charlie Watts.... I am pretty devastated. It feels almost like losing my brother (also a Stones fanatic) all over again. RIP Charlie!
  18. So, if Diggs, Beasley, Sanders and Gabriel are all locks, you can only pick 2 of these three: McKenzie, Kumerow, Stevenson. Which two do you choose?
  19. You can't keep everyone. McKenzie seems to be making a strong case for himself to be a bigger part of the offense. However, he is still not showing his hands to be reliable on kick receiving. Stevenson is a 2021 draft-pick...he looks to be a legit return threat, and has shown some receiving ability as well. Everyone loves Kumerow, but he may be the odd man out, if they only keep six. I didn't realize Kumerow was 29 already...I say, see if Green Bay will give you a 4th or 5th rounder for him...
  20. I haven't been there yet. My best friend moved back to Buffalo a few years ago, and raves about them. He is pretty picky about wings (he owned a famous wing joint in NYC at one time)...I trust his opinion.
  21. When I drank soda, it was diet. Now, I only drink it on rare occasions at restaurants (also rare occasions these days), if they have regular Dr Pepper from a fountain, with the right kind of ice. When it is mixed right (also a rare occasion) it is awesome. I didn't really stop drinking soda for health reasons or anything like that....but as I got older, it just doesn't taste good anymore. I feel like I am drinking a bunch of mixed chemicals. Now, I mostly drink coffee, water and/or beer. If I drink a sweet drink, i lean toward Gatorade Zero, or flavored Vitamin Water.
  22. They have expanded in recent years. There is one across the street from me, right now (at work), here in Austin, TX. And another near my house. That said, I think In & Out and Whataburger are both vastly overrated...especially In & Out.
  23. I just can't do Colin Cowherd...but glad he likes Josh!
