Is Downing the Right Guy?

Agreed there too...but Rivers has shown to be successful with those mechanics...as has Staff to a degree...EJ hasn't shown that just yet. I am by no means an EJ basher (I like the kid a lot), but it would be silly to pretend that accuracy is not an issue that he needs to address. "Experts" seem to think that the only way he is going to improve his accuracy, is by improving his mechanics. Guys like Rivers, and Bernis Kosar had/have terrible mechanics, but were very accurate passers. EJ has suspect mechanics, and has shown to be inaccurate...do the math! You may be right there...but having strong mechanics are a great way to improve consistancy. -

While that is true, even if that was 3 years ago, it is hard not to notice, while Staffords numbers have looked good since, his completion percetage has dropped about 4% since, and his TD/Int ration has changed dramatically...and not for the better. I will say, I don't follow the Lions all that closely, but the "noise" coming out of Detroit this past season, IRG to Stafford, was that his mechanics were breaking down...at the end of the season I remember there being some hub-bub about him bristling at the notion, put forth by the team, that he connect with some sort of "QB guru" to work on his mechanics. Now, I will acknowledge, what happned with Stafford does not necessarily mean the same thing for EJ...but it did make me stop and think a bit more about this hire. -
Seriously? Being influenced by somebody is the same as "stealing" their act:? If that is the case, a whole generation owes a hell of a lot to Letterman, for knowing who to steal his act from. Was watcing this over the weekend...some classic stuff. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gNbT9Lf9xZo

True...but he had stretches of games where he was slinging it pretty well, and they were fun games to watch....he won a few, lost more...furstrating as hell I agree...but I think of games like that Ravens game in 2010 (IIRC) where Nelson got the ball punched out of his hand in OT, well after the play was over... Fitz was terrific in that game.

I made the same point right when he was hired...everyone seems to agree that EJ has some problems with his mechanics... and mechanics seem to be the same thing that most "experts" point to when saying that Stafford hasn't played as well as he should have...so why hire a guy who couldn't get Stafford to improve? I am a little hesitiant about this hire as well...as much as I like all the other coaching moves, this one could prove to be pretty vital to the teams success this year. The fact that he worked with Thad Lewis as well, does add a little intrigue however...either way, I am very glad that the Bills addressed the issue. On the other hand: If EJ has one thing going for him, by all accounts, he is someone who very much wants to learn, wants to play his best, and realizes he has some learnging to do. From the sounds of it, Stafford is a bit more bull-headed. He had the advantage of having Calvin to sling the ball too...so his mindset might be that he doesn't need to improve.... I would make the argument that Fitz got worse under Lee. -
Enjoyed it too...but I am embarassed to say, I dozed off during the final sequence with Glenn...right about the time he was running through the crowd in his armor. I know (from Talking Dead right after) that he finds one of the Governrs girls and rescues her...will have to catch the final 15 minutes again tonight... all in all though, I liked it.

College football already serves as the D-leauge for the NFL. Personally, I think the NFL, as profitable as it is, is about to see the floor fall from underneath it. I think they should hold on to what they have before trying (again) to branch out into Europe..

The Bills future ownership situation starts to take shape.

I am not advocating bringing him back, but he was really the best QB (for better or worse) that we have had since 2002 Drew Bledsoe...not saying much, I realize, but the Bills were much more watchable (note, i did not say enjoyable) with Fitz at the helm (especially 2010 and 2011)...his last season was pretty miserable...

Do you even know where you are? That sounds like a challenge!

I am not sure how much you read, but I think most healthy minded adults would agree, there were other, better, options...but depression is a powerful thing that overpowers logic and reason. It is painfully evident, that Martin was tail spinning into a darker hole as this thing went on...few people who suffer depression can simply "stop being depressed" because the depression is hurting them. It is like telling someone that has cancer to "stop dying from cancer". I found the comments from his parents, especially his father pretty gut wrenching. It almost seems as if race played a role in Martins "non-confrontational" persona...his father admits that he had to deal with the same thing as a younger man...often looking the other way, or pretending things didn't bother him so as not to make waves in their more affluent surroundings. His father tells him that he was able to suck it up, and ignore, or work around racial taunts....but when the younger Martin tells his father of crude comments made about his sister and mother, the elder Martin tells his son to kick him in the balls....or something along those lines. Hearing ex-NFLers comment, most agree that this kind of stuff goes on to a degree, but almost all point to some imaginary line that "you just don't go over"...and all agree that Incognito, Pouncey and Jim Turner went well over that line... comments about his sister and mother were pretty outrageous. There is honor, even among thieves.... I think Incognito is a first class !@#$ (as his series of tweets are not helping him, as he seems to haven't a clue that he holds any culpability in any of this), but it seems that this inferiority complex that Martin has was likely cultivated long before he became a Miami Dolphin. That doesn't mean to say that a professional adult shouldn't be able to go to work (no matter how much money he makes) and be subjected to the bs that Martin was, from other, allegedly adult, professionals.

Which is pretty much what Martins' father told him. Sorry, I think some folks here are just incapable of seeing beyond their own nose.

Peace.

81 degrees here today...I'll say it...I can't stand the heat!

Forgive me if this has another thread...I couldn't find one. Does anyone buy this guys story? http://www.aol.com/article/2014/02/13/Jose-Salvador-Alvarenga-ocean-castaway-is-mentallyr-fragile-doctors-say/20829774/?icid=maing-grid7%7Cmain5%7Cdl1%7Csec1_lnk3%26pLid%3D442629#!slide=2426424

You are probably aware of this, but back in 2008 he was supposed to be a dead "bigfoot" carcass, which he, and a police officer supposedly found in Georgia. As I recall, it was purchased by some organization...the body was frozen in a block of ice...as it thawed, it was learned that the feet were made of rubber...the hair, when burned, disintegrated in a way not consistant with hair...it was a frozen gorilla costume! The officer was ousted, for knowingly partaking in fraud. I get what you are saying...I was the kid who always longed to go to the "freakshow" at the Erie County Fair every year...but my dad always said no. When I finally got old enough to be able to shell out my own cash, I went in...it was rediculous...obviously not real.

I heard yesterday (can't remember where now) that the impression that Farmer left as a potential GM was that he wanted a coach that was more of an "innovator" (probably an offensive guy?) than someone like Pettine. Gotta say, it feels good, for a change, that the Bills aren't the "most dysfunctional" team in the NFL, for a change.. I think we are headed in the right direction (at last)... just cuz I like the Browns fans I know, I hope, for their sake, this is a good move...

I didn't realize Dyer had also been busted for fleecing people on Ebay, selling corvettes that he never deilivered. This guy is batting a thousand. I am in Austin, and I have to confess, I am almost amazed by the lengths this guy is going to, in order to perpetuate yet anotehr hoax...I wonder what psychology is at work here. People love attention, i realize, but this guy has had nothing but negative attention...

Don't take this wrong jboyst because I mean it in a good way,,,you are possibly the most unpredictable long time posters here! You really crack me up sometimes!
-
Almost more interesting than the hint of a dead bigfoot body going on tour, is the reasoning behind Rick Dyer continuing to perpetuate what is very obviously another hoax...what is his endgame?
-
So, in all seriousness, what does that mean? He still owns the property, pays taxes...but doesn't live there? I seem to recall, Ryan Miller put his downtown place up for sale during this past off-season as well...

Relax...I think he gets that!

Results not withstanding, I thought Hackett called a pretty good game...but called a better game when Lewis and Tuel were under center. Perhaps it is because the two backups are percieved to be more limited, but especailly with Thad, I thought he called a game that played to his strengths, and hid his weaknesses for a while.
