Didn't get to see the game tonight, as my cable system doesn't offer NHL Network. Was really looking forward to it all day, before I realized I couldn't watch. From the sounds of it, that very well have been Ryan Millers' last game as a Sabre. I am pretty sure Enroth is supposed to get the start against the Bruins. From the interview with Murray, pre-game, it sounds like Miller has finally let his wishes to be traded known to Sabres brass. To bad...I have certainly been down on Miller from time to time over the last 3-4 years, but he has been the only pretty consistently good thing about the Sabres this year...part of me was hoping that somehow it would all work out, and he would end up staying, the team would make some crafty moves in the off-season, and the Sabres would be climbing back up in the standings next season....but that doesn't seem to be the plan. Ott will likely be gone too... would love to see them keep Moulson (he is on the record as saying that he wants to stay), as he is still a pretty young guy, and a natural goal scorer... should be another interesting off-season.... Sabres bottoming out, my Celtics on the skids... who'd a thunk the Bills would be my light at the end of the long, dark tunnel!

I "know" somebody on that list, or moreover, a sibling of somebody on that list. This person would be considered one of the "greybeards" no doubt...been there since before the Super Bowl days.... I will say, I used to get some pretty juicy tidbits of insider info...more just stuff about personalities and relationships between folks there...not so for the last 2 years or so...

I am glad somebody else said this. Over the years here, I see posters constantly bashing the "lightweight WNY media", but then, when there is some story like this, that isn't so flattering about our team, we attack the messenger... I am not as down on the Bills current FO as some here appear to be, but I have little doubt that friction exists there. I would be shocked if there isn't friction that exists, like what Graham is reporting, with every pro sports team.

Jairus Byrd [was Jarius Byrd]
Buftex replied to Iowabillsfan4life's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I would love to see Byrd back in a Bills uniform. The thing is, inevitably, unless the player in question is an upper tier (or even middle tier) starting QB, guys that get the mega-deals that they are clamoring for, rarely win in the end. They will be released before the deal is over, and end up going elsewhere, for far less money. I realize the real money is in the guarantee,,,and as much as I like Byrd, I can't really condemn the Bills if they can't get a deal done. Ever since Byrds contract situation has become an issue, I have never once got the the impression that he really wants to stay with the Bills. No matter what they offer, it won't be enough. It is not fair, I realize, but the way the NFL is designed, teams don't pay out based on past performance...hoping a deal gets done, but I just can't get down on the franchise for this one. -
Don't know these stats, but I would be sure that there are a lot more "regular citizens" living near bbb than there are NFL players. I have seen stats on this before, somewhere...a couple of years ago....and as I recall, percentage wise, pro athletes don't committ violent crimes at a higher percentage than your 'regular citizen"....but I also recall that NFL players, percentage wise, committ more violent crimes than athletes in other pro sports. We are talking percntages, not hard numbers.

Now it is just round the clock 'fantasy football" stats! I remember my dad getting po'd becasue during the last 30 minutes or so, of the Monday Night Football game, I would be flipping back and forth between the game, and the CNN nightly sports recap (the one with Nick Charles and Fred Hickman) just to see what Bills higlights they showed...if you missed them on Monday night, you wouldn't see them again...unless you tuned in for the Rick Azar Bills show on Saturday afternoon...last chance for highlights! Now I can watch them on my phone, any time I want...more is less sometimes! -
Another FWIW...I am not 100% certain, but I believe the bartender in ep 3, in the strip joint (the one that Hart talks to about the dancer) is Nick Pizzolato, the writer/creator of this series. From what I understand, he was a bartender at a gentlmen's club, here in Austin, for about 4 years...

You may be right, and it may just be a case of the Bills being so irrelevant, from a national perspective, that most of us here (it seems) have lost interest. But, I also think it is the format of the shows...and the repetitive nature of the stories. With the 24/7 around the clock coverage today of, well, everything, there is never anything fresh or revealing by Sunday morning. The only reason to tune in, as a Bills fan, as YoloinOhio suggests, is that hey MIGHT mention the Bills...fairly good chance that it will be a negative comment, or something that can be construed as such....and also a good chance that somebody here will have started a thread about it, and how the Bills were disrespected... I am more likely to watch the highlight shows on Sunday night or Monday. Even those, however, are as repetitive as hell. They show you far fewer highlights (most shows use the same package of clips) from each game, and more time over analyzing the latest Cowboys loss and how it relates to Tony Romos legacy...or how masterful the Patriots were, again...even if they lost...is Payton Maning the greatest regular season QB ever? Yadda, yadda yadda....they spend more time on coverage, but show us far less. I remember in the old days, you could watch NFL Prime Time, with highlights from every game, and feel like you had a decent idea of what happened in every game, the ebbs and flows...they didn't just show you the same one or two plays over and over again. -

Being a big NBA fan, especially back in the 70's and 80's can't tell you how many times I wished I could have punched Brent Musburger... -

Yes. I forsee a time, in the not too distant future, where CBS & Fox trim their shows to one or two hosts, make them shorter, or do away with them altogether. -

FWIW- rumor seems to be that Dan Marino will be working with the Dolphins front office...remember when he was hired as Vice President (or something like that), and the resigned about 3 weeks later... I am with the rest of you...I don't think I have sat and watched a pre-game show in at least 10 years, probably a little longer. I normally only see a few minutes each week, at the bar, before game time... I have actually seen very little of Marion or Sharpe... I always thought Marino was okay...and Shannon was just loud...I hate loud. -
When Bills Fans Get Their Teeth Pulled...
Buftex replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I wish somebody had told my dad that,..before he turned 70! -
I don't seek out spoilers, but if I am presented with them, it doesn't bother me much. If the show is good, and done well, it makes no difference.

Oh my goodness LA...are you becoming "poltically correct"? -
He played well against Atlanta, Buffalo (1st game) and especially Cleveland. I am not knocking EJ, mind you... I am still very hopeful that this kid is going to be very good. And when I made my original comment I was kind of forgetting EJ's second game against the Jets, where he played his best game. SInce everyone seems hell-bent on comparing the two, the slight edge I would give Geno over EJ (and this might be my mis-perception), Smith looks a little more sure of himself. Of course, I realize, Smith had some really ****ty games...really ****ty. But, I can't put my finger on it..the thing that surprised me the most about EJ this year was his tentativeness. I didn't see him play a lot in college (only his "best" college games, re-aired after the draft) but what I did see, I wasn't concerned about this. Smith, on the other hand, just seems to move more fluidly, and moving around in the pocket seems to be a little more natural to him. His decision making certainly needs some work, but he throws a nice long ball, and just doesn't seem as likely to overthrow a guy who is wide open...throws well on the run. I am thinking (hoping) with some more starts under his belt, EJ will get more comfortable...but he just looked a little stiff out there, at times, to me. When Smith was "feeling it" and having success (again, I am mindful that had some truly horrible games as well), he seemed to feed off of it. One thing I really like about EJ, as has likely been noted by others, even when he didn't play great in a number of games, he seemed to play well at the end, in close games. That is a real good sign to me.

This just in: Hot Pockets do in fact contain "meat"
Buftex replied to Beerball's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Funny...this comes on the heals of the new Hot Pockets ad campaign, touting the "gourmet" meats that they use in their product!
