W/ respect to the 'best 5' I think the only doubt is that Peters might be included (If anything, I'm upset that Preston isn't being considered.) Considering his level of experience at the position, and what appears to be the learning curve, it's quite possible that in training camp he wasn't among the best 5, but after a couple of extra months, he's now at least worthy of consideration. IMHO, it appears that we have 4-7 players that when considered individually are 'okay', but together as a unit are sub-standard.

IIRC, they only gave ST a B. What more are they expected to do? Good kick coverage, great returns, good punting & even nailed their only FG attempt from 53!

I was optimistic and yes, I thought there was a very good chance we would make the playoffs, but didn't expect us to get too far. I was concerned about our aging Dee not playing up to the caliber that they established last year, but this meant they'd be top 10 rather than top 5. I was hopeful that particularly by the end of the season the offense would play to a level of mediocrity. (We almost made the playoffs last year w/ them being bottom 5.) Assuming we didn't revert to Martz-ish play on ST, that might've been good enough. Right now, we have a bottom 10 team in both O & D; that makes us bad. (Remember, 12 teams make the playoffs so you don't have to be THAT good to go.)

Looks like McGee will make it as the returner. He's leading the league & is the incumbent. I'd be very surprised if he didn't make it. Moorman won't make it as it largely boils down to stats, & although he's a superb punter, worthy of going (I'm not saying he's the best), he won't make it. As for McGahee & Clements, of course they'll go. Their the best at their positions, right? (Seriously, I don't think so. McGahee might, which wouldn't be so bad. Clements making it would be a worse travesty than R.Brown making his last one.)

Stat speaking, for the past 2 yrs, we're among the best at returns AND coverage. Many of the contributors on ST can't even break the starting line-up. This year, we have one of the worst Ds & for the last 2 years, a bottom echelon Offense. What conclusions can we derive from these facts reagrding our talent, schemes & coaching?

The difference between Shaw & Reed is that Shaw ran wrong assignments & I got the impression wasn't as prepared as he should be & perhaps wasn't as diligent in blocking as was desired. AFAIK, Reed prepares well, gives an all out effort and unfortunately sometimes gets open. Problem is, when he gets open, QBs are inclined to throw him the ball thereby often leading to an incomplete when a better option would have been to throw to someone more inclined & capable of catching it. The situations are totally different. Canning Reed would likely be a poor motivational move. However, sitting him on the bench, or only using him as a decoy...

To clarify what I was getting at - I realize the money isn't excessive & therefore isn't the issue. Also, draining & replacing coolant is REALLY simple, so I assume you really want to flush it. (I'd recommend doing it BTW, I had a radiator clog up after < 20k miles likely 'cuz I didn't flush it. Granted it was more than 10 years.) The main reason why I'd suggest having it done is that although here in NYS any place that does radiator work is required to take your old coolant (for free AFAIK), as I mentioned, is it really worth toting maybe 15 gals of stuff to a garage. Whaddaya going to put it in?

The problem w/ flushing the system yourself is what to do w/ the waste fluid. To fully flush the system, figure you're going to be outputing at least 3x your coolant capacity; for some cars, that's > 15 gals. You can't just pour it down the drain. If it's only $40, I'd suggest having it done.

1st, kudos to Wire for an excellent open field tackle, which I believe was his 1st of the year. It looked like he was beaten around the corner for what would've been a game icing long gain. Besides being his customary 4th man in the pile on ST, he apparently got an assist somewhere during the game according to the state sheet. As for Milloy, unless he uses his broken hand to hold the jockstrap that he's being faked out of w/ increasing frequency, that's not his only problem. So whadda we do at SS?

I was thinking the same thing b4 the play (BTW, I think you're right about Bishop. He had an arm that made Bledsoe look weak.) I figured that JP could throw farther & also elude the rush better. Little did I know that the play call was a 5 yard pass then hopefully about 10 laterals. JP would've been better suited for this as well.

Looking at the stats, we pretty well beat them across the board. We even held them 1-7 on 3rd downs and converted 7-14 ourselves. Watching the game, I felt we dominated until the end. One wonders how you only lead 3-0 at the half after that performance. Anbyway, back to my point - the one stat that is indicative of why we lost. Red Zone efficiency. Bills 0-3, Patsies 2-2.

I remember way back when I saw Halloween at the theater when it came out on Halloween. Good movie, but didn't do a thing for/to me. Went to a friends house & saw Phantasm on cable; scared the excrement outta me. Running home & kept looking over my shoulder afraid some weird tall lanky guy would be chasing me yelling, "Boy".

You've got a point that we really shouldn't be alarmed that we haven't had a 300 yard passes in years. To some extent, it's a good thing. Also, since there's usually only 2 or 3 a week, it probably isn't that much of a statistical aberration. What is VERY disturbing, however is that we haven't had a 200 yard passer in like 11 games. That's gotta be indicative of a bad passing offense, especially since we've lost roughly 1/2 those games.
