  1. I think they both were from like 49 yds, too. Those goal posts look mighty small from that distance. I saw the 2nd one & it was a nice looking kick; just missed by a couple feet or so. From that distance, they certainly aren't gimmes. I'd say you're good if you manage 50% from there, which means you'll still miss both 25% of the time.
  2. Maybe JR urinated in the cold tub?
  3. Actually, if he'd have been just a bit more accurate w/ the pass, say a bit more arc and 6-12" up field then the ball had a chance to stick in his facemask so he couldn't help but catch it.
  4. My understanding is that he was superb on punt snaps. (He also did a good job covering the kicks IMO.) They usually didn't even let him snap for kicks, which would imply that he wasn't very good at it.
  5. Any MAROON knows that!
  6. They suspend 16 out of how many total players, 1700 and about 8 of them are marque players? Odds aren't very good.
  7. The only rationale I can think of (except that Tucker can't play up to normal standard due to his back) is that they're very high on Preston and that they're only keeping 9 OLs, so they instead opted for guys that could play outside, too. Personally, from what I've seen, I wouldn't have been surprised to see Tucker starting instead of Anderson w/in a few weeks.
  8. Well, during a game, they're used to feeding 70k, so I don't think that'll be a problem. I certainly wouldn't want to be 'confined' like that for a month or more. I would assume they're not 'confined' per se (i.e. not quarantined(sp?)) and are free to leave. Problem is, they don't have any place to go or anything to do. Stir crazy is certainly an issue, but I wouldn't think that's the situation would promote riotous activity. Good question of which I can only speculate. 1st, they don't need to shower once a day like most of us have the luxury of doing. However, since they are not French (although N.O. does have a large %age of French speaking people, doesn't it ) it is reasonable to try to have accomodations for them to shower once or twice a week. Much like there's porto-potties, it's reasonable to assume they could set up adequate, make-shift facilities. For math, assume they need to have 49,000 total showers a week, or 7000/day. Allowing for 4 showers/hour/stall, that equates to 1750 'shower units'. That's attainable w/ perhaps 100 stalls. Is that unreasonable capacity? (I'm assuming that fits w/in the municipalities capabilities although it might cause a temporarily strain.)
  9. Based on my math background, that statement is untrue. Apart from the initial requirement to get everyone's avg tank to 3/4, usage & therefore subsequent demand would be the same. ALso, assuming many/most people are like me, they/I typically fill up their tanks when they're almost empty. (That's why you have the 'miles b4 fuel runs' out function.) So this would mean that on avg, tanks are slightly over 1/2 full.
  10. I'm sorta of the mind of HopsGuy, but I don't know how practical/feasible that is. As others have mentioned, there's plenty of places on the net if you want to look at pics of hot women (or probably even pandas, if you're into that kinda stuff). Personally, I think much of what makes this a close communtity is the OT/LAMP stuff. Provided it doesn't get out of hand, I think it adds to the experience. I don't know specifically about everyone's surfing habits, but it seems that a significant %age of our posters are here on & off all day during Eastern time 'work hours'. I think what I propose is like is to have everything go on the main board, then after 3 or 4 hours get migrated to the appropriate subforum. I'm assuming that would need to be done 'manually'. Is that too much of a burden on our moderators? BTW, let me take this opportunity to thank you & the others that help maintain this board for giving me (& us) this venue to enjoy.
  11. OMFG! Just went to Stewart's near my house, $3.599 for premium! Just put $20 in (it's my 'toy' car, so I don't drive it much), which only got the tank to 1/4 full (based on the gauge). That's about enough to get me home & back to the store once the price comes down.
  12. I don't think Parrish would be eligible for PUP regardless of when he might be available. I believe you only qualify if you were hurt from a non-football activity. (I guess the OTAs when Everett was hurt don't count either; or maybe 'cuz he wasn'ts igned at the time.)
  13. Ahh, thanks for the correction. It's amazing how edifying a google search (along w/ a little guidance) can be. Apparently better than that semester of Physics I managed to sleep through many years ago.
  14. F=mv^2 Velocity is more important than mass. It's slightly more complicated w/ respect to football contact. Where & how you hit someone definitely plays a big roll. The ability to generate speed in that small area and split second just b4 contact. Skill of course plays an important roll. I personally wouldn't want to have Winfield hit me & I've got probably 20 pounds on him.
  15. I only managed to stay up through about the 1st quarter then had to hit the sack. I work up about 5:45 to the PC's UPS (Uninterrupted Power Source) alarm blaring. Just got power back about an hour ago, so this means I failed to tape the end of the game. Hopefully, it'll be rebroadcast. I'll have to keep my eyes peeled for when.
  16. Reading above, I think we should Thank God for that coffee & good brownies!
  17. Losman might not have as strong of an arm as Bledsoe, but he still has a very good arm from what I've seen. Bledsoe had a VERY strong arm. If you don't believe me, go back & get a tape & watch those 10 yard screen passes he used to throw
  18. My preference would be for it to go the opposite way & actually reduce roster size. I realize that how teams currently play, most of the 53 man roster is utilized, but I personally would like to go back to the 'olden days' when you knew who was going to be on the field (Having players go both ways is taking things too far). Right now, you often have RBs & TEs line wide as WRs. LBs play DE; S play LB, etc. If every team was restricted to smaller roster limits, I don't think it would adversely effect the quality of play on the field. It would make it easier on us fans having to know fewer players. I'm pondering how a change of this nature would impact the goal of maintaining league parity.
  19. You bring up a good point w/ respect to HIPAA which I wasn't at all familiar w/. However, in the past, teams have been required to disclose injury info & have been fined for not doing so. W/ respect to disclosing this info, since all teams are required to abide by the same rules, no overall benefit is derived. From a passionate fan's perspective, one certainly would like to have this info disclosed. It would be nice if someone (of authority) would confirm that our new policy of vagueness is required to remain in compliance w/ these new regs. (I don't follow other teams closely enough to know if they're doing a similar thing.)
  20. I didn't read the article but I will add that if a plane depressurrized at high altitude, due to lack of oxygen, you get pretty stupid (& uncoordinated) very quickly. Under these conditions, it would be possible to freeze to death (as it does get cold up there). Reminds me of a Payne Stewart joke - He was great under pressure, but not too good w/o
  21. I agree w/ this in concept.
  22. Put yourself in the shoes of the suspect for a moment. Okay, none of us know MJ personally but let's just say based on what we see in the media (which is our only basis for opinion) that we perceive him as 'weird'. We don't know that he's a child molestor. As far as I'm concerned and from what I can see, this worked the way it was supposed to. It's a far greater injustice to let a guilty person go free than to convict an innocent person. Okay, so most people thought he was 'probably guilty'. Apparently, either the DA et al didn't adequately do their job in proving that he did do it, or he might actually be innocent.
  23. Isn't it a case of simple supply & demand? Regardless of what limits the supply side, be it raw materials or pruduction capability, if the ability to produce a product at a given price level doesn't meet demand for it at that price, prices will rise. Since I can only assume that creating more capacity in refinering capability is a costly endeavor, and we won't create this capacity until it's economically justified, this situation will likely continue until something changes.
  24. How's the joke go? Q:"What's the punishment for bigomy?" A:"Two wives."
