  1. Off the whale option---look at some of the very good defenses at 4-5 and pluck the DL/LB coach (Seattle??? San Fran??? Carolina???) I think Singletary would be adecent DC
  2. My concern with Wade Phillips is that Bufalo goes to a 3-4...if he can stick with a 4-3 system then fine but changing to a 3-4 system just cant happen.
  3. Pettine---you really dont want this gig. they just fired the coach adter 1 year.Do you want to get fired after 1 yr too? the team is in dire straights where it appears they are gutting and trading away their team and need to rebuild from scratch again which will take a 3+ yr project. In the NFL now you will get canned for certain after 3 yrs because many sr mgmt dont realize how long it takes to rebuild a team. Dont you enjoy facing the Jets, Pats, and fins 2 times a year??
  4. I think the officials made a mistake..... The face masking was done from where the play was stopped not from the original line of scrimmage since it was a negative play. There are scenarios where there is an incentive for a defense to do face masking to drive back the team. 1st down at the 1... You see a back running around the 6.. Just one hand yank him by the face mask at the 6 and you replay 1st from the 3 instead of the 1.
  5. To go to a 4 division 8 team per division format.... 8 divisional games (1 against 6+ H &H against 1 team) + 4 interconference games+ 4 intraconference games. then you would have a very imbalanced schedule so the standings could be readically different because instead of now where divisions have 14 common games, under the new format, divisional teams would have something more like 10 common games. In some seasons a team like New England could be very top heavy playing many of the top teams in other divisons, while Buffalo play a far weaker schedule--this will cause more year to year swings in standings.
  6. If they beat Atlanta they likely win at Tampa. They were very flat against them. At 7-8 how could they have made the playoffs...... W + MIA L + BAL L + PIT L + SD L BUF-BAL-SD tie at 8-8....tiebreaker #1 since nobody beat the other 2 it goes to conference record...BUF & BAL would be 6-6 vs SD 5-7....then it resets to BUF-BAL which BUF wins in a H2H. Had they beat Atlanta, they likely would have beaten Tampa Bay (they wouldnt have been flat) and actually been 8-7 going into this weekend. At 8-7 they would be in 2nd place....for the WC win + SD L BUF loses a tiebreaker to SD based on strength of victory.
  7. San Francisco has no clinched a wild card.... SF W they are seed #5 SF wins and SEA lose they are division winner and #2 seed SF wins and SEA lose and CAR lose SF is #1 seed SEA win or SF lose and SEA win division and #1 seed NO wins, or AZ lose, they clinch WC and #6 seed NO wins, SF loses they get seed #5 NO wins, CAR loses, they win division and get #2 seed CAR win they clinch division and seed #2 CAR win and SEA lose and SF Win then CAR #1 seed AZ win and NO lose then AZ seed #6 PHL W they get seed #3 DAL W and GB W they get seed #3 DAL W and CHI win they get seed #4 GB win they get seed #4 CHI win and DAL win they get seed #3 CHI win and PHL win they get seed #4 DRAFT ORDER 1 HOU 2 134 highest 1, lowest 2 2 WAS 3 123 1, 5 3 JAX 4 121 2, 8 4 OAK 4 124 2,8 5 CLE 4 124 2,8 6 ATL 4 132.5 3, 8 7 TB 4 138 3,8 8 MIN 4.5 123 3,8 9 TEN 6 121 9, 13 10 NYG 6 125 9,13 11 BUF 6 125 9, 13 12 PIT 7 113 13 NYJ 7 118 14 STL 7 133 Based on order the net gain any team can make up is 2 wins in the standings because every team who loses will increase by at least 8. With an all division schedule a team played 2 other divisons so in each division the net gain will be 2 for each division so the 2 divisions makes 4. The other two teams in the division play each other so that adds 2. If your team loses, then the win total goes up by another 2. The only differences will be in the non common games which are 2. If your two non common teams both win that adds 2 at max. teams tied in wins of schedule are decided by coin flips. If Buffalo wins the worst they can fall to is 13. They will not get a higher win total than STL because current difference is 8 > 2. The highest Buffalo could get is 9
  8. SF W on MNF NO W AZ W/SF L---NO #5 SF #6 NO W AZ L/Sf W--SF #5 NO #6 NO L AZ W/SF L--SF # 5 AZ #6 NO L AZ L/SF W--SF #5 NO #6 IF SEA L to STL and SF W then SF win division and SEA is seed #5 IF NO wins, and CAR L then NO wins division, and CAR is a WC SF L on MNF NO W AZ W/SF L--NO #5 AZ #6 NO W AZ L/Sf W-- NO #5 SF #6 NO L AZ W/SF L--AZ #5 NO #6 NO L AZ L/SF W-- SF #5 NO #6
  9. Nobody controls ther own fate in the AFC MIA w, BAL w Sd w---MIA--better conference record MIA w BAL w SD l--BAL---H2H win MIA W BAL L SD W- MIA--H2H win MIa W BAL L SD L--MIA MIA L, BAL w Sd w---BAL--better conference record MIA L BAL w SD l--BAL MIA L BAL L SD W- SD MIa L BAL L SD L---IF PIt W then PIT, then BAL--why--Jets beat MIA , Jets in 2nd, PIt W, BAL L, PIT in 2nd, PIT win a Jes-tPIT-SD tiebreaker because of conference record. There is actually a strong correlation to teams that finish strong the season before. for example CAR started off last year slow but finished strong. It also depends on how stable there coaching staff and players on the team are.
  10. I didnt see the play so I dont know if Gilmore could be blamed. Was he expecting safety help? was it just a great throw that no matter what a cB does the player would still catch it?
  11. Duh--you have 4 home games before Columbus Day its going to skew warmer not to mention moving a December game to Toronto.
  12. NE L and..... CIN W IND W 2 CIN 3 IND 4 NE--CIN beat both so they are #2, IND better Conference record so they are #3. CIN W IND L 2 VIN, 3 NE, 4 IND CIN L IND W 2 IND, 3 NE, 4 CIN CIN L IND L....2. NE, 3. CIn, 4 IND
  13. I said that in my original post----They want the games to be competitive. since the #1 seed is still alive with a win by NE and a DEN loss---If NE lose then DEN sits their players. I am surprised they are going to move GB/CHI to 4:25 because FOX doesnt have that great of a schedule for 1pm. The only game would be CAR/ATL with cAr winning to clinch division. They lose and NO wins then NO get division. NO needed to move to 4:25 was because of the wild card spot still at play. If SF lose tomorrow......NO clinches and SF/AZ becomes a winner takes all game. NO has H2H against both. IF SF win tomorrow---they clinch a wild card and it becomes a situation of AZ needing to win and NO lose for AZ to get the WC.
  14. That explains nothing......it just shows is the playoffs started today---but the fact is in the AFC nobody controls their own fate for the wild card.
  15. This is just my guess: CBS: NYJ/MIA BAL/CIN CLE/PIT JAX/IND HOU/TEN 4:25 DEN-OAK KC-SD BUF-NE BUF/NE moves here because DEN L and NE W, NE is #1 seed. If DEN knows NE lost then they rest everyone. FOX: GB/CHI DET/MIN NYG/WAS 4:25 SF/AZ (***) STL/SEA TB/NO CAR/ATL NBC PHL/DAL (***) (***) IF SF wins MNF IF SF lose then SF/AZ goes to NBC in a winner take all for a WC, DAL/PHL is the national game at 4:25 with just STL/SEA on at 4:25 with all other games happening at 1:00
  16. Kid, hopefully in your lifetime this team will make the playoffs again....
  17. in the aFC baring a major comeback by OAK to beat SD and BAL to beat NE..... going tinto next week its MIA, SD, and BAL all 8-7 PIT at 7-8 (if win today--lose they are out) A 3 way tie it goes to MIA BAL W & SD or MIA lose MIA W & SD win SD W & MIA and BAL lose all 3 lose and PIT win for 8-8 then PIT in. In the NFC..... AZ won today..... SF plays on Monday AZ needs to win next week and either have NO lose week 17 or SF lose on Monday. NO win and in SF win and in SF win last 2 and SEA lose, SF wins division. GB losing....they are still alive Detroit losing eliminates them Chicago wins clinches the division tonight...a loss---then GB/CHI still means winner gets the division title. PHL/DAL next week still is winner take all.
  18. He picked up the ball made a few steps then went was falling when he pitched it to his teammate.
  19. Green Bay Pittsburgh Green Bay lines up for a FG to tie... line up for a short one. close to an extra point attempt. FG is blocked. In the attempt of a recovery and run back the pittsburgh player appears to pick it up then laterals it to a teammate. The team mate did not have possession and bobbled it then intentionally knocked it out of bounds. the rulling by the officials was an intnetionally batted ball by Pittsburgh but Pittsburgh did not have posession so the penalty is against pittsburgh with Green Bay retaining posseion so half the distance and 1st down for Green Bay. Green Bay next play gets a TD for the lead, Officials claimed it was not reviewable. Tomlin was livid.
  20. Mine is more accurate. ESPNs does not add the games yet to play---mine takes into account who the schedule will be and those teams current wins. Mine adds the total wins of the 2 divisions you face, the wins of your division teams x2 + the wins of the other 2 teams. 1 HOU 2 130 2 WAS 3 117 3 JAX 4 118 4 OAK 4 119 --play at 4pm 5 CLE 4 121 6 ATL 4 129.5 --play on Monday 7 TB 4 134 8 MIN 4.5 120 9 NYG 5 122 ---play at 4pm 10 PIT 6 112 ----play at 4pm 11 TEN 6 117 12 BUF 6 122
  21. updated........ AFC Cincinnati clinch a WC Patriots clinched the AFC East Denver clinched the AFC West + bye---clinch #1 w/PATS loss Baltimore clinch a WC with a win this afternoon by beating NE and SD losing. MIA/BAL/SD tie at 9-7 goes to MIA, BAL over MIA and Sd in a 2 team tie. If BAL wins then next week BAL/CIN is for the division and potentially a bye NFC with DAL winning no matter what PHL does, tnext week PHL/DAL game winner gets division title. CAR clinched a WC spot, CAR win division w/win or NO loss. IF AZ loses this afternoon, both SF and NO back into the playoffs with a WC spot. As for the draft---BUFFALO is at #12 as of now
  22. You can draft a guard in round 2 or 3.....take a LB over an OT. The team needs an Elite OLB---more so than a OT.. the team will also take a step back if they have to go through the trials of a LT learning the NFL.
  23. ESPN assigned 32 reporters one to each team. Before it was one reporter per division. the guy who wrote now just does Miami.
