  1. If you were going to make a Mt Rushmore of actors, one would have to be Meryl Streep - hands down. Second would have to be Sir Laurence Olivier. Now it gets hard. Tight race between Marlon Brando and Daniel Day-Lewis. (I know - I've mentioned 4 right there) Then, a whole host of others - Henry Fonda, Gregory Peck, Paul Newman, Gene Hackman, Charlie Chapman, Tom Hanks, many others that have been mentioned previously. I haven't seen Harrison Ford mentioned.
  2. Lived in Raleigh for 8 years. Saw a lot of changes in that time. I have not lived there in 10 years (man, where does the time go), but if you are working at Duke you definitely will want to be on the west or north side of Raleigh. The traffic slog from Raleigh through RTP to Duke will make you think twice.
  3. At one time, they did. JKelly was a freshman at UM, and local Billy Hurley played for SU.
  4. In case you are interested and in the area, Pippa Middleton is riding in an 8 person team in the RAAM (Race Across America). Progress can be found here - http://www.raceacrossamerica.org/raam/rcracermap.php?s_N_category_group=2&s_N_Race_ID=1&N_webcat_id=1&s_N_Year_ID=38&s_N_Entry_ID=3199
  5. I wonder if this will be more fuel to having my high school (Lancaster) change its nickname.
  6. The Columbus Blue Jackets do a similar thing here. If you are a STH or a mini-pack subscriber you get a credit card size "ticket". That card is scanned in for entry. Problem with that is you are issued only one card even if you have multiple seats on your pass. So, if there is a member of your group running late they have to get a hard copy / printed ticket (assuming you have not communicated they account username and password). Minor issue, but . . .
  7. Nothing - nada.
  8. I heard about this during the morning news. I wonder if he has a thing for a certain type of pool float or just pool floats in general.
  9. Good for you!! Wifey has missed passing it by one point - twice!! Hopefully, third time is the charm.
  10. Some side info on wood from a cheese making supply house - http://www.cheesemaking.com/Wood4Aging.html
  11. The cyclist is at fault. They have to yield to pedestrians, same as cars.
  12. This is not going to turn out very well for the supervisor. And, on a related note - http://www.buffalonews.com/city-region/cheektowaga/police-chief-on-viral-racist-video-there-is-possibly-disorderly-conduct-20140604
  13. I tried, believe me I tried.
  14. Not sure if it has been mentioned in the thread, but this was on TCM (I think) last night - 2001: A Space Odyssey. Other favs are The Searchers, Schnidler's List, and Field of Dreams. The modern trilogy / project movies just have not captured my attention.
  15. Haven't been to mine here in OH yet, but I'm getting radishes, spinach, a few peas out of my own garden.
  16. When I was in Park City this past Feb the locals there were saying that SLC will be playing for another hosting sometime in the near future. Sarajevo is a tough example as that country went through a extreme internal uprising, to say the least, just after hosting.
  17. From what I have read, the fishing (in particular - walleye) at Lake Nippissing has fallen way off. Many have attributed this to the allocations to the Native Canadians.
  18. These coolers come highly recommended. http://yeticoolers.com/ For your food storage question, once made portion them into a zip lock bag and/or aluminum pan and then freeze. Can you bring in a small generator along to go with what the outfitter provides? Why not disconnect yourself? My grandfather had an island up in Lake Nippissing with no power / phone. Now, this was 35+ years ago, but it was some of the best times hanging out reading, playing cards, listening to the radio, talking.
  19. Sigh. You will be in my prayer tonight Ben.
  20. Just FYI - life expectancy of a Great Dane is about 7 years.
  21. Looking back, the 10 years that I worked at TI (1984 - 1994) there were some pretty smart people working there. Very proud to say that I worked there.
  22. I thought the same thing.
