Made my phone call yesterday as I was about to pay my bill. Went direct to "customer retention". Rep noticed that I was a subscriber since 1996. End result - got $18 off for each of the 6 payments for Sunday Ticket ($108 off total), ST Max for free (I'll hardly use it), and 3 months of HBO for free (I may use it here / there). Not exactly free, but did get a discount.

Lived in TX (north TX / Dallas area) from 84-94. Dallas was screaming in growth then and has been. Austin is very much a college town with a great music / food vibe. It all depends on what you are looking for. Lots of open country, small towns, and big time cosmopolitan cities.

Was in NYC for the 5 Boro Bike Tour in May. Tour ended at Staten Island. The ferry boat ride from Staten Island back to Manhattan was real cool - went right by the Statue of Liberty. (Yes - I do realize that you are staying in the city) Was quite amazed at how much SI near Ft Wadsworth looked like eastern shore of MA / RI with the views of the water and such. My observation of the WTC museum is how people take pictures of everything. Odd. Generational or cultural thing?

I really like how it's all upon "we" to teach these people how to not spend all their money. There was no "we" when I graduated from college and had to pay back the student loan. There was no "we" when I purchased my first new car. There was no "we" when my ex and I purchased our first and second home. There was no "we" when I had to split half of my 401K savings with my ex. You blow all your mega money on whatever - tough. Figure it out.

Plenz - Thanks for the kind words about my home. Although BFLO is where I was born / raised, I call CBUS home now. Congrats on daughter attending Denison. Granville is a neat little town. So, if you are headed to OSU area couple of things to check out. Ohio Stadium - get the feel for how large that place is. Maybe you can get lucky and someone will let you in to check out the inside. Jack Nicklaus Museum just up the road from there. The Wexner Art Museum. The Billy Ireland Cartoon Museum. The main library at OSU just went through a big expansion / remodel. Check out the North Market downtown. Get you some Hot Chicken Takeover and Jenni's ice cream. Tonight - couple of suggestions. Italian Village - there are a couple of brew pubs within walking distance of each other. German Village - Schmidts, Thurman's, South Village Grille, Old Mohawk are a couple of suggestions. BTW - This is Pride Weekend in CBUS. It will be very busy downtown.

There was a story in the biz news that one of their major investors, Jana Partners, was complaining that the company wasn't doing enough to improve the bottom line. WF re-org'ed the board of directors back in May. I'm not a biz expert by any stretch, but this is prolly a play against Jana.

The old position is gone, but I would have asked the CEO for documentation (meeting requests, notes about performance, follow ups) as confirmation to their not renewing your contract. Now - just let it go. Run your 8 month contract, but at the same time get looking!!

Officers came up on the vehicle. Car was stopped on side of road, running. Tiger asleep at wheel. No other passengers. Officers noted damage to front and rear bumpers and damage to two drivers side wheels and flat tires.
