  1. If we improve the line, McCoy will do a lot better than Jackson, Brown, and Dixon would do on their own. Spiller was gone since the Bills offered $4.5 million and he turned it down. The QB we all want isn't out there. All we can do is improve the offense to mask the deficiencies at QB. Improve the line. Improve the running game. Improve the tight end. Improve the coaching. We are almost there. We don't need to blow it on Cutler.
  2. This is what I have been saying too! Fix what we can! At the very least it will make the bad QB's a little better.
  3. I've already seen some posts that say "no way EJ wins in a truly open qb competition" so be prepared for "it was handed to Manuel" if he does end up winning
  4. Right, people are looking for who "won" and who was the stupid team. I don't think either one was stupid. The Eagles got what they wanted (cap space and a young good LB) and the Bills got what they wanted (a top RB). We could afford to lose something on our defense. We cannot afford to not improve our offense. This 100% improves our offense. I do think the Eagles are going to be in trouble offensively if they keep getting rid of their good players though.
  5. Do you realize CJ Spiller is 27? And Fred Jackson is 34? Anthony Dixon is 27? This latest trend of saying a running back is on the decline because they are going to be 27 is nonsense. He is on the decline when he shows he is declining. 2014 did not show that he was declining despite "only" getting 1,319 yards rushing instead of 1,607 in 2013. He was losing favor with Kelly. I watched a few Eagles games last year and they just weren't giving him the ball at certain times like they normally would. The addition of Sproles didn't help either who is a valuable RB himself, but that doesn't take away from McCoy, he still got 1,300+ yards!!
  6. I see what you are saying but at the same time pro ej people are getting annoyed with the people who have already discounted manuel and constantly say "we need a qb". One example is a friend of mine who asked what I think of cassel and I said," ok backup, good competition for manuel, but not a huge fan. "And he got pissed at me for bringing up manuel and said" he isn't the solution and never will be." Which led to the points that have been discussed repeatedly on these forums. The solution these people want isn't out there and until it is, they will never be happy and will always be voting for the constant qb carousel that is buffalo. So I can see why both sides are getting annoyed. As for the other qbs, they have a lot more games under their belt so what they have shown is seemingly the best we are going to get in the best case scenario and it is ugly. It's all about the ceiling.
  7. EJ has his problems we all know that. He may turn out to be bad but when we stop and take a look at our offense and the problems we agree it has, they all impact the qb and therefore we aren't exactly setting Manuel up for success. My point and I think a lot of EJ supporters point is there aren't any good qbs out there, there really arent, so let's set ej up for success and see what happens. FYI that doesn't mean we don't get a couple qbs and have a qb competition either.
  8. How do you go from the eagles approaching the bills to get kiko, rex saying sure, he wanted to trade him anyway to whaley not having equal power. Sounds like the trade made itself.
  9. Yeah I saw that too. I guess they mean in contention? But we were in contention for the playoffs last year. I guess we just aren't relevant enough for him to notice that. We just need to break this drought and get rid of the stigma of being playoff-less team.
  10. He is a depth player in the sense that we have room to spare on our defense. We showed last year our defense can be very good without Kiko, but our Offense was horrid. Forget the player vs player aspect and think about the need vs need aspect. We needed a good running game and spiller wasn't playing ball, so we got McCoy. Philly needed capspace and got a promising LB in the deal. Both teams benefited and that means it was a good trade. I am not sure what world people live in that the Eagles should trade us McCoy for something that wouldn't benefit them. And anything benefiting them would surely be a loss to us. Just because we lost a player doesn't make it a bad trade. It was pretty equal in my opinion with the Eagles side being more risky.
  11. Dareus 8 million is already counted against our cap this year. Take it off the cap next year when he is a free agent and we have another 8 million to work with in signing him. Although I would prefer to sign him long term before all that drama.
  12. That article is ridiculous. Neil Paine: Walt, how excited are you to see Shady McCoy out of the division, no longer around to plague your New York Giants like he did in Week 6 of this past season? Walt Hickey: I tried to buy a bottle of champagne but the liquor stores were all closed. So, I decided to go home and write this post with you. I have been gloating to my Eagles friends since the news broke. I will continue to do that until at least Saturday, or until my friend Max punts his McCoy jersey into the East River again, whichever comes first. But then they go on to say McCoy was a shell of his former self haha. We need to upgrade our O Line for sure though. Also didn't PFF football rank McCoy 1st in 2013? He disagreed with Chip Kelly, that is why his production decreased.
  13. Is this before or after cassel? Edit: After so Cap Space (w/Top 51) $17,762,238 now
  14. There are plenty of trolls around here. It happens when you have so many people who are bored with the repetitive topics and just start posting things to get a reaction or a laugh.
  15. Yep when a thread consists of anything is better than what they did, then you know people are just complaining to complain.
  16. AP is a heck of a lot more expensive. 47.4 million in three years compared to 25.25 million in three years. Or 16 million per year vs 8.5 million per year. I'm glad you weren't in the position to make the call in 20 minutes.
  17. Can you link to that Whaley interview? I don't put it past them to let Searcy and Spiller go, but the way you react to things, I would rather listen myself. Saying we have 5-7 years before we need to worry about our cap situation is absurd. You always have to worry about your cap situation and plan ahead. That is the worst kind of planning to blow tons of money just because you have it. You need to get a return on your money. Maybe signing a less expensive but still impact DE means maybe we sign Revis, or McCourty. We don't know yet, because Free Agency hasn't started yet. Give Whaley a free pass? Why are you giving him a hard time? The Watkins trade? Really? He actually saw what he wanted and paid what he needed to get it. Isn't that exactly what you want him to do with Hughes? Because you know extra cap money couldn't be used in Free Agency to sign an impact Free Agent the same as a 1st round draft pick at 19 overall would? I would argue we might get more worth out of free agency this year with the extra cap money rather than the 19th pick. And then to cap it all off you are blaming Whaley for a pick he hasn't even made yet. Whaley has done a fine job so far, and maybe you disagree with the moves the team makes, that is fine, and it is your opinion but the way you throw it around as established fact and doom for all is a bit inflammatory. This is why people are telling you to relax.
  18. Still have (Edit: also a veteran QB), Easley, Searcy (or another safety), Spiller (or another RB), a pro guard, and any splashes we want to make in Free Agency to go. Also Dareus, Gilmore and Glenn all come up next year don't they? I'm all for keeping Hughes, I never like to get rid of players without replacing them, but it has to be for a reasonable or even a premium price. We don't throw 13 million out just because we have it. Nevermind. I see what you are doing.
  19. I'd like to get a long term contract signed for a reasonable price(I know, craziness). The reason our cap is low is because we don't have a franchise QB and because we have signed team friendly contracts. Let Whaley do his thing, he can still sign him, and free agency hasnt started yet. We may hit our cap, you don't know that.
  20. tagging was 13.8 million someone said. I'm not sure I'd want them to if that's the case.
  21. Now that he is the top guy available technically speaking, he is in a better situation and has more leverage. Not good for us.
