Why Europe has got it right. Tips should be an insult. A direct reflection on poor philosophy of the owner... Like they can't pay them well? Gotta pit the patron's economic sensibility (I am staring at you @Gugny LoL) against the help? Sorry... To me that's parasitic. No carrot on a stick needed. We're all in this together. Each know their place in the hierarchy.

That's all they are asking for. Just a little scratch. Sometimes you may need that $2.25 for bus fare. No worries. What goes around comes around! Built into the program now in most places. Hit one button.

So... You can afford 4 bucks then... Give a fin... Say: "Give me a buck back." Or... If cheap... "2 back."
-
So. One thing that was always preached to me as kid: No matter how hard you've had it, make it easier on the next. Do your best. Factor the tip in. 20-30%... If you can't afford, maybe you shouldn't be out spending the money. Save it for another time. Of course... Tip jars are just for collecting loose change. What's more embarrassing? Seeing fire fighters and police panhandle in traffic with the boot... Or call on the phone by professional fundraisers. Raise my damn taxes if they can't make ends meet. They shouldn't have to beg. They get paid fair enough... Servers, service help have their wages suppressed because they (the ownership, etc..) pit the cheap consumer against the labor.

What hacks do you do?

Box elder bugs? When the female box elders hoard up and head from the trees to warmth of houses for winter. Put laundry soap in hose sprayer. Wash the siding, brick... It gives them wicked "dermatitis" if not drowns them. Also: For perimeter defense, diatomaceous earth is safe, effective. They pass through and cuts their exoskeleton to ribbons. -

You need to be sent to WAF re-education camp. Fall program is getting ready to fire up here in Illiana! Matriculate now, don't wait for that "polite" knock on the door! I gave the cleaning lady at the hotel in Nashville a bigger tip... And I still left the room not like a slobola. That $20 was burning a hole in my pocket anyway!

[I know you said UB... But Northern teams are different] University of Chicago was a founding member of the Big Ten. Left at the pinnacle of it's football dominance in 1939. Did you know that the University of Chicago was like the Alabama today of it's day back in the 1930's and yanked it's sports program, football in 1939 to concentrate on academics? How novel! You'd think an Alabama would do that today. Big southern school? Let's go a little north above the Mason Dixon line to PED, ooops, I mean PENN State... Think they'd even pull the $$$$$ plug with that ***** -ed you zombie sports culture after abusing kids? Yeah, right... Here's a good read about college football in the South: https://theathletic.com/934984/2019/04/22/college-football-1930s-southeastern-conference-origins/ You may need the app... Not about being a factor... It about regional lines.

First impression: Rosen for the Phins

My son is graduating this year from Iowa. They wear black and yellow colors out of homage to Steelers but man red, white, and blue would be more appropriate... Between Rose Bowls, Super Bowls, tailgating, bad luck, Ronnie Harmon, the style of play... You'd think they were separated at birth from the Bills! When I first moved to Davenport... My supervisor in Rock Island saw my New York plates the first day of work, the Bills sticker and said: "Yeah, don't feel bad, he (alluding to Ronnie Harmon) blew the Rose Bowl for us too!" /smh... Then I send my kid there 25 years later. -

Unfortunately, yes. -
Marv had a quote: "If a coach starts listening to the fans, he's going to wind up sitting next to them." Dude/Dudette... I am not sitting with you! LoL...

Speaking of getting fired, no pun intended... What would you do to save the company's $150,000 rig? https://abc7.com/amp/video-shows-trash-truck-that-ignited-deadly-calimesa-fire/5612626/ You know, not dumping it and the rig goes up... Still starts a wild fire. Follow protocol... Shouldn't there be fire suppression on the vehicle? Should this belong in the "did you ever utilize a fire extinguisher" thread? -
Paul absolutely looks like he's gonna toss his cookies... LoL... Look at his shirt, he might have.

Took him behind the training facilities and put him down "Saratoga racehorse style." A wrecked horse is good for nothing, not repairable. Anyway, RIP. I send my condolences. ?

As a Civilian deployed. You'd make it over there +60. EZ-PZ... Especially on base. That's where I was going with it... And 2-3 times pay... Other bennys... Like coming back with unlimited vacation leave (you can only carry 240 hours a year normally or lose anything over 240 at end of year if not used). They are screaming for bodies! -

Depends... Where people put their priorities I am 51 and got almost 30 years in with one employer. If I don't go early... In many ways, I guess... I will probably have over 40. 20 short years will get me close to 50 years @ this Club Fed. We are even playing with a short bench. One of our +60 year operators chose to get deployed again to Afghanistan... With Trans-Atlantic Division for another 12 to 18 months. -

LoL... Of course there is. But not by the fans. Just like the Marv Levy quote: "If a coach starts listening to the fans, he's going to wind up sitting next to them." -

I don't follow trends. Northern snakeheads in other states is about 5-6 years old. Honest... Old news. Now Georgia wants them dead. How novel. I guess it "trends." Yawn...
