  1. I take it that you do not watch HBO on Sunday nights.
  2. Thanks for cheering me up.
  3. Cyrus in his DeMatha uniform: http://www.saturdaydownsouth.com/2011/national-signing-day-2011-review/ Look familiar? The kid was meant to play for the Bills.
  4. This is an interesting take on the draft value chart using what the author refers to as career approximate value ("CAV"). http://harvardsports...fl-draft-picks/ These are some interesting takes on discount rates and future picks: http://www.footballp...fl-draft-picks/ http://www.pro-footb...com/blog/?p=297 As for me, I love that we have Sammy - and I am loving it more and more each day the more I learn about him. I do feel that the Bills gave up too much. They reminded me of me when I bought my first car -- including the bit about how Farmer took another call (I think Farmer played us). In placing a value on property, you look at other "sales." I knew that the Bills wanted to trade up and the rumors were that the Bills and Lions were looking for reasonable deals in trading up. I thought that the model for that was what the Dolphins did last year to move up more spots. Notwithstanding the above, it is great that we have Sammy and were able to pick Cyrus Kouandjio -- another kid with whom I am more and more impressed as time goes by (if you have not heard the interview with Murph last night, you may want to check it out). I guess the way I will choose to look at it is the same way that I look at the purchase of our house 12 years ago. We probably paid more than we should have because my wife loved the house and she was pregnant with our first born. Yet, we love the house, our kids and I love living there and in the neighborhood, and the house is worth a lot more than we paid for it. I hope that Sammy is that kind of player. We have both Sammy and Cyrus (presuming another iteration of the trade included giving up this year's second round pick) for a year more than whoever we would pick next year, and there will be no temptation for anyone to want us to lose some games at the end of the year to improve our pick. If it works out the way the Bills and we hope it does, we will be fighting for a playoff spot this year, attendance will be way up, and the viability of the Bills in Buffalo will be further supported. Just my two cents.
  5. Didn't we just sign Prince Oberyn as an undrafted FA? P.S. Winter is coming . . . for the rest of the division (at least I can hope).
  6. Jon Bon Douchebag cannot buy the Bills given that he has the intention of moving the team. Jerry may want to read the lease agreement.
  7. Clearly, he had a great game. Many things stood out, but I will mention only a couple that do not appear to have been mentioned. 1. Clemson ran basically the same play over and over and over and OSU could not stop it even though they had to know it was coming. 2. Sammy is a willing blocker. 3. The guy that he beat on that long TD pass at about 4:30 was four star recruit Doran Grant who, I believe was a junior at the time. He also was ranked by ESPN as the 69th best player coming out of high school when he was being recruited. Not exactly an inexperienced slouch. 4. Sammy attacks the ball. On the same TD pass, Sammy went up and attacked the ball. He did not leave his QB out to dry.
  8. To join a CJ Spiller or Sammy Watkins' touchdown celebration?
  9. It is not going to happen, but we would all get that feeling Chris Matthews had running down his leg if Tom Brady came to the Bills next year. Let's not kid ourselves. It happened with Drew Bledsoe. It happened with Lawyer Milloy, it is happening with Spikes, and it would happen with Brady.
  10. Good first step. I really hope that he puts his words into action. He can be a good addition to our offensive line at tackle or guard.
  11. There was an Interesting discussion on the JM show last night with guest host Sal C re the possible significance of the number 14 for Sammy ( or just fun coincidences): 14 Drafted in 2014 Drafted round 1, 4th pick We traded a 1 and a 4 for him (or two 1s depending on how you look at it) 14 years out of playoffs will end this year Sammy previously wore 2 and 7 in his career: 2 x 7 = 14 Are there others? I did not listen to the whole show. Sorry if this already has been posted.
  12. SJ 2013 - injuries and his mom died. Give the guy a freaking break.
  13. Jameis will be the "steal" of the draft. Sorry, I could not resist.
  14. I agree. We are lucky to have him. He is from the area and is trying to do everything he can do to keep the Bills there. Nevertheless, there are always those who want to trash him. I don't get that.
  15. This. Buffalo is the classic underdog city. I always thought that we liked underdogs. Stevie was an underdog and he embraced Buffalo (unlike some others). For some reason, there are those that like to eat our own on this board. I always thought Roscoe was one of those underdog stories, but, like CJ, there always seems to be someone posting that we should get rid of guys like that. CJ is a great teammate, has a great attitude, and unbelievably played on a high ankle sprain as a RB. One would think that guys here and in the media would praise someone like him. Stevie seemed to genuinely enjoy playing for the Bills and in Buffalo. He was a character (and not in a malevolent way). He had some drops -- but so does every receiver. I also heard the other day that he has had more TD receptions in the past few years than Fitzgerald. Stevie is gone -- for whatever reason the Bills had. (As an aside, Marrone also got rid of the WR coach as well - I wonder what that was all about). There really is no reason for anyone to trash Stevie. He had success and did so without a Tom Brady or Peyton Manning or anyone approaching that level of QB -- and also had success against one of the best DBs in the league who is now back in our division. I wish Stevie well. I have a feeling that he is going to do well for San Fran. Just my two cents.
  16. Cool. Wegmans is probably pretty happy as well.
  17. I really hope that they get CJ more involved in the passing game as he was a couple of years ago. Among CJ, Sammy, and Goodwin, we have as much speed as any team in the league and present some awful problems for opposing defenses. When you add Woods and Williams to the mix, we should have a pretty good passing game -- provided we have solved our issues up front and EJ progresses as I hope he does.
  18. Knowing some people close to the Hurricane program, I can say that Seantrel is a decent kid. He is like a lot of kids that age. If he wakes up (and I hope he does), he certainly has the tools and ability to be a very good offensive linemen -- either at right tackle or guard.
  19. I love the guy's comments. Whoever it is, he has me more excited.
  20. Nice post. I find it funny that the people on this board cannot agree on whether we gave up two firsts and a fourth or one first and a fourth. At the end of the day, we have Sammy Watkins and the Browns ended up with two of our first round picks and a fourth. As I have posted, I hated to see that we gave up so much to move up five spots given what Miami gave up last year to go up from 12 to 3 -- they only had to give up their 12th pick in the first round and the 42nd pick overall. On paper, the Dolphins got more value in terms of picks. The ultimate evaluation will depend on Sammy. I like the kid a lot and he has a lot of talent. If he is the player the Bills brain trust think he is, we will be happy. The Dolphins, on the other hand, while making a better trade on paper, are probably not too pleased with Dion Jordan who could hardly get on the field last year. Washington got the QB they wanted. Many people on the board were complaining that the Bills did not make this kind of move for RGIII at the time. A couple of years later, it looks like the RGIII trade was a bad one for Washington in that they gave up far too much for a QB who has some significant injury concerns -- especially given the style of play that makes RGIII dynamic when he is healthy.
  21. This pick was an absolute disaster. We chose an undersized guy who had one decent year at PSU. He had the temerity to hold out and, as I recall, would not even answer the phone when Marv called him. I remember reading on PFT (or one of those sites) that buyer's remorse set in very quickly once he got on the field. The Bills quickly realized that the guy had no business being a first round pick. (As an aside, I think our 7th round pick Seantrel Henderson will have more of an impact than Maybin ever had). His value to the Bills was even less than our first round pick next year (at least that pick helped us get Sammy). On the other hand, Maybin is a pretty good artist.
  22. Great stuff. Thanks. I love Cyrus.
  23. The following comment has nothing to do with Whaley. I could listen to Buddy Nix, Dwight Adams, and Bobby Bowden all day long.
  24. This year has been his first year on the big stage. I am sure that he is still a bit nervous when speaking to the media - especially the Buffalo media. Although I do not necessarily agree with everything he has done, he seems intelligent and good at what he does.
