  1. Very emotional video of Jim addressing team. I have to believe that it made an impact on the guys on the team (and coaches).
  2. I don't mind the red, I just wish it were the red of North London. He really is a joy to watch. The guy is extremely talented. I also think that he is a pretty decent guy (which makes the couple of incidents in which he was involved very odd to say the least).
  3. I just spoke with a friend of mine who disagrees with me, but I thought that Joe Hart essentially ducked on that second Suarez goal. If he had stayed more upright, he would have had it. Suarez is amazing. I wish he played for my team.
  4. Thanks for the advice!
  5. Perhaps a stupid question: If I were to start reading the books, through which book are we up to? Also, given that I am so emotionally invested in the TV series, should I read the books now or wait until later?
  6. We can argue about some of the things you say in your post. What no one can dispute is that Terry and Kim Pegula have their hearts in the right place and would never move the Bills out of WNY. Indeed, I am sure that they would make sure that the Bills stayed in Buffalo even after they were gone. We would never have to go through what we are going through now.
  7. You are probably correct, but I just thought that (perhaps) their relationship had, for lack of a better term, evolved.
  8. True, but the internet has solved that. We also have ESPN covering it the way they have - all games and dedicated shows. Between NBC's coverage of the Premier League and ESPN's coverage of the World Cup, this has been the best year yet for those of us that also like world "football."
  9. When I read the heading that your wife got an 80 inch big one, it reminded me of the old Richard Pryor joke with the punch line: "And it is deep too." Those of you that know the joke may be laughing right now.
  10. I suspect you are correct about Arya. I was disappointed that she was so cold given that he did do a lot to protect her (and her sister as well if I recall correctly - although she did not know that). I also suspect that you are correct that she is going to turn out to be very cold and heartless given all that has happened to her.
  11. Absolutely. Terry Pegula would be the dream owner for the Bills. Yet, the Buffalo News likes to throw darts at him. The News has absolutely no credibility when it comes to Terry and Kim Pegula. They are the best thing to happen to Buffalo since the Pan American Exposition. I would have to take blood pressure medication if that were the case.
  12. He is better than the guys that report on the Bills for the News. He also is more optimistic about the Bills staying in Buffalo.
  13. You and I are in the same situation. My wife is Dutch as well. We both have a very good "back up" team. Hup Holland Hup.
  14. Important win obviously both for this World Cup and finally beating a very good and unrelenting Ghana side. I also thought that Ghana is overly chippy (dare I say dirty). Nevertheless, they have some skilled players. I am proud by the resilience of our team. We also have some good young talent and, in my view, a perfect coach for the USMT's growth and growth of football/soccer in general.
  15. I could not be more impressed with the Spurs and Pop. I am not a huge basketball fan (much prefer football and hockey), but the way the Spurs play as a team and set the egos aside is extremely impressive. It is going to be very interesting to see what LeBron does now. The Big Three is really the lonely one. I actually like Chris Bosh and think that he is a very interesting person as well as player, but he does not even approach the level of LeBron - but who does really. He is a big man that prefers to play outside. He is athletic and when he is hitting his shot, he can very effective. When he is not, not so much. Dwyane Wade probably holds the key to what happens to the Heat next year. Clearly, they need some better players into the team to compete with the likes of the Spurs. Wade has said that he is not going to take a pay cut - whereas Chris Bosh has said that he is willing to do so to make the team better and keep guys together. Wade probably know that he can see the end of his career and wants to hold on to his exorbitant and guarantied contract. If he takes that approach, he may end up by himself playing for the Heat. Even though, I now live in Miami, I think that the most interesting story line is whether LeBron decides (this year or next) to go back to Cleveland. One of the things that I like about LeBron is that he seems to be a thoughtful and intelligent guy. He clearly went about the "Decision" wrong. I do not think that he likes the way people think about him in his home state. Given the young talent that Cleveland seems to be acquiring, I would not be surprised if he decides to go back to Cleveland (unless something changes this year or next in Miami). Just my two cents.
  16. Six years!?! Amazing. I really miss the guy. He was a great guy and great for Buffalo. I had the opportunity to meet him a couple of times. He could not have been nicer. Somewhere I have a photo of him, my son, and me. As an aside, when he was on, I never missed Meet the Press. I don't think I have watched more than five times since he passed away. Tim is missed by many. He went far too young.
  17. No prohibition if in the same market.
  18. I have a feeling that you are on to something. I do not know about other teams, but I know that if you are an Arsenal season ticket holder or Red Member, you get a card (size of a credit card or parking card) that serves as your "ticket" and you hold it up to a card reader when going into the stadium. It is actually pretty cool. If you have the card, you also can buy tickets on line and then use your card to get into the stadium. The card reader knows you purchased the tickets. As a back up, you print out the confirmation in case something goes wrong. As a side note: the same company that designed Emirates Stadium (the stadium Arsenal plays at in London) is the same company that designed the renovations at the Ralph.
  19. Fantastic news. The Pegulas would be great, and they would do it for all of the right reasons. I could not be happier.
  20. The Spurs play unbelievably good team basketball. Credit to Pop and selfless Spurs players. Great performance.
  21. That was hysterical.
  22. U.S. of course. Back up teams in order of preference: Netherlands (because of style of play and my wife is from there)(I should mention that I am no longer a fan of RVP because of what he did to Arsenal). England (affinity for country and I am familiar with and like the players because of time watching Premier League - and also because of Arsenal players. Arsenal is my club team) Germany (a bit counterintuitive because they are huge rivals with the Netherlands. They have three Arsenal players. Plus, because of Juergen and his successor, they have completely changed their style from very boring to a good style. If I were a betting man, I think Germany probably wins the World Cup unless they get hometowned by Brazil).
