  1. Cindy, 2 S 1 L 1 S ladies-cut Expect a PM from me shortly to send a check. I would like to pick them up at the Tailgate if that's OK. Thanks much for doing this again. Wear those shirts around here proudly and always get lots of recognition from displaced WNYs. Tony
  2. Saw them when they opened the National with the Radiators earlier this year. It was a great show and I also saw them at Allgood last year and they were excellent that night as well. We won't be there next Wed. as we will be out of town. It should be a good show. Did you catch STS9 and Umphrey's McGee at Innsbrook a couple of weeks ago? It was a good jam. We met a couple of guys from Buffalo who were returning from Allgood to catch them again. They got busted for pot in a parking lot at Innsbrook. But the cops took their weed and let them go...told them they were lucky they were not put in jail.
  3. Our local reviewer thought it was great until the last 30 minutes "The problem with the last half-hour is that movie builds up to its natural climax, which occurs around the two-hour mark, and then it keeps going. Everything after that first ending feels unnecessarily tacked on, especially when it spins off into peculiar directions. The story, which until then makes sense, becomes considerably less comprehensible. Cross-cutting between scenes is handled ineptly. The performers suddenly begin to overact. Character motivations change. And worst of all for a comic-book movie, the pace drags and it becomes dull. Even the Joker becomes tiresome. You'd be better off missing the last 30 minutes. If you leave when you first feel like you should, the experience will be nothing but terrific." True dat?
  4. But the text did say "In hot weather, compressors have to work overtime to keep food frozen", indicating that more energy would be consumed as the compressor cycles more frequently in hot weather. In any case, this link speaks more directly to energy consumption in refrigerators and freezers.
  5. My .02: Most anyone who puts their pic on an ad is hoping their image promotes some kind of comfort with the consumer. Also, someone may wish to tout your experience in a particular market and a picture can demonstrate that. There is a lot of data (I am not going to link) that a pleasant look is preferable to nasty-looking and the consumer will choose accordingly. I am somewhat amazed at the pictures people are willing to post. I guess they have a mistaken impression that they are good-looking. After all, most people post on dating sites/ads that they are nice looking. Sometimes, there may be confusion over gender with a unisex name (i.e., 'Chris', 'Ryan', etc.). Hopefully, a picture clears that up.
  6. Honda discontinued its Accord hybrid due to its mpg being only slightly better than the non-hybrid model and being low when compared to other hybrids. It did not pertain to its complexity or component failure.
  7. Yes, I would. Four of us are coming...have my tix...let me know where to send the $. Was looking forward to snagging some t-shirts, too.
  8. We have a couple of openings. PM me if interested. I would need to know more about you before I would commit to a referral. These are tough times for hiring in the pharma area. There used to be many more on our site. (near Philly) A Master's Degree in a field of science with a minimum of 4 years relevant academic or pharmaceutical laboratory experience or a Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of 6 years relevant laboratory experience. Knowledge of principles of drug metabolism. Knowledge and experience in metabolism studies in vitro and in vivo, radiation safety and radiometric analysis. Experience in assay/instrument troubleshooting. (Sanford, NC) BS or MS in life/physical sciences (e.g. Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry, Microbiology). Relevant experience may compensate for lack of graduate degree. Training on cGMP for laboratory operations, ICH and other regulatory guidelines related to method validation. Method-specific training prior to execution of laboratory studies. Training in statistical analysis and technical writing.
  9. Pooj, For new sneaks, check out The RoadRunner Store in Carytown. The owner, Thom, is a great runner and a good guy. Even if he is not there, his staff is good. Explain that you need a proper shoe and they will watch you run and suggest a sneaker for you. Bring in a pair of used sneaks so they can see the wear on the sole. You will pay a little more here but you will get assistance and service. I would probably wait and get your physician's opinion on your feet/gait before visiting their store.
  10. Jeremy Bentham "As requested in his will, his body was preserved and stored in a wooden cabinet, termed his "Auto-icon". Originally kept by his disciple Dr. Southwood Smith, it was acquired by University College London in 1850. The Auto-icon is kept on public display at the end of the South Cloisters in the main building of the College. For the 100th and 150th anniversaries of the college, the Auto-icon was brought to the meeting of the College Council, where he was listed as "present but not voting". Tradition holds that if the council's vote on any motion is tied, the auto-icon always breaks the tie by voting in favour of the motion. The Auto-icon has always had a wax head, as Bentham's head was badly damaged in the preservation process. The real head was displayed in the same case for many years, but became the target of repeated pranks by King's College London students including being stolen on more than one occasion. It is now locked away securely."

  12. In VA, anything over 50 cc requires a motorcycle license. Other states are different just like with helmet laws. My wife will definitely be taking the 2-3 day course. In VA, they supply the bike and helmet for the course and try to match you with an appropriately sized bike for your body size. She will have more info than she needs as the automatic scooters are a bit simpler than a cycle. But the new, better-built 200-250 cc scooters can hit 65-70 fairly quickly and easily without screaming. But they should not be operated for a long distance at a speed like that.
  13. We are apending about $3k. I see your point but my wife is 5' and 105 lbs. That baby is way too big for her (btw this is primarily for her and she is in tune with the idea.). Even the 200-250 cc is a challenge for her and she is in shape.
  14. My wife and will be picking up a 200-250 cc cycle/scooter - something on the low end but not a moped. Kind of the transition between the two. We will use it for around town and anything that does not require travel on an interstate. My wife is too small for a large bike. We can even use it to go to work when we wish since we can get there without the interstate. Plus, there are some bikes in that range which can seat two people (of average size) relatively comfortably. My wife does not have her cycle license but she will take the course. The bikes we are considering get 70-90 mpg. We did some calculations based on the # of trips/miles we would use it and it will take about 20 months (~$3k) at the current gas prices to pay it. Less time for ROI when the price rises. Plus, though not Harley fun, it still is fun. We are keeping our current cars and using them when necessary or appropriate. Using this as an alternative due to the increasing $ we are spending on gasoline. We are looking at the SYM or Kymco brands in this line. Rip away.
  15. Lost Theory Interesting theory but plausible when episodes/events are lined up. Note that if you read all the way through the Main Theory, you will encounter a spoiler (who's in the coffin).
  16. Supposedly, much of the dialogue was improvised by the cast. Tom Waits = Dr. Heller Invisible Boy: So, this is basically a huge electromagnet. Dr. Heller: Well, actually, it's an electro-nuclear-magnet. It's the next inevitable phase. Heller: "No, no. I don't live here. I'm just here for the ladies." (at a nursing home) Heller: "That's a high-temperature fabric adhesive liquid projector, based on simple dry-cleaning technology. You aim that at a guy, and I'll tell you something: his clothes get so tight he can't even breathe." Heller: "I can trick that out with a clam-shell holster. It comes with a leather carrying case. It's got a wadcutter and a full warranty." Shoveler: Doctor, you are a genius. Dr. Heller: That's what the card says.
  17. Another good Sawyer nickname: Miles = 'Genghis'
  18. Were they including flying as part of their assessment on travel plans? I see flight prices have increased substantially. Besides higher fuel prices, I expect some of it is also due to dwindling competition (Skybus, etc.) and less routes. Typically, I fly to the games I can attend as a season ticket holder and the price increase I see for flights for 2008 game dates over 2007 is significant. It will impact which/how many games I will attend.
  19. Perhaps whatever transport device Ben is using works regardless of where the island is located. And maybe the people from the freighter (commandos) are killed. After all, Ben travels from the island in flashforwards (re: Dean Moriarty) so the commandos don't appear to have much of an impact on Ben's movement in the future.
  20. I could not stop myself any longer....once an editor....
  21. Highest and lowest global gas prices In some cases, the lowest (i.e., Venezuela) are subsidized.

  23. If opposite of Tunisia, the island location could be on top of the international date line. Might not mean sh-- but who knows.
  24. As I mentioned previously, I have a Sony/Ericsson W580i and it also functions as my ipod. I transfer lots of tunes to it through USB. The camera is adequate if I need one in a pinch. A quick connection to my PC to transfer that stuff is easy and I have no problem with either device when I do it.
  25. Sony/Ericsson W580i - mostly for personal use. Use it for texting, small amt of web browsing...rarely for e-mail. It doubles as an ipod and it fits fine in a front pants' pocket.
