That leads me to a ? Where I am in VA, usually there are a few days each month in the Winter when I can take the bike out for a short while. So I leave it on the center stand with a battery tender and a full tank with a little Stabil. Do you put it on jacks/stands and what do you do with the fuel/carb? And yeah, though I don't live in Batavia any longer, you're spot on about Stans. That's where I send all WNY HD enthusiasts. Reminds me of a joke. The HD and BMW cycle clubs sometimes meet near each other in Richmond. Somebody asked an HD member if it bothered them that the BMW club was meeting close by. His response, "We don't care, they spend just as much on their bikes as we do."

The Enduro term is still held onto by BMW. However, since the enduros came out, the generic terms Dual-Sport and Adventure emerged and I used one of these for folks reading this thread that may recognize that term more than Enduro. You're showing your familiarity more than your age.

Thought it might be interesting to see what people have, why they use it, etc. I'll start 2002 BMW F650GS Why I like it: ABS brakes, heated grips, dual sport, ~ 60 mpg, center stand. Someday, I would like to get an R series. I use it to commute to work when the weather co-operates. I can go back roads to work and the country ride for much of the trip, and being outdoors is a great way to start the day. I leave early so I do not encounter much traffic and I can shower at work. It has cut down considerably on my gas expense. When my kids are with me, I have to take the car but can usually use the cycle for, at least, 50% of my driving. I also will go on some trips with my wife (she also has a cycle - Honda Rebel). I only go on interstates when it's the only way I can get somewhere.

Quad ESL are my faves. Different technology:electrostatic speakers (membrane) - different than traditional moving coil. The speaker is about 2" deep. I listened to these in comparison to traditional speakers and could audibly hear a difference. I am not sure if I moved up from these that I would be able to discern much of a difference in sound. OTOH, if I were 10-15 years older I am not sure I would have been able to discern much of a difference between these and the traditional speakers I heard.

Vermont State Police cited a man after stopping him pulling a sled - with a rider in it - behind his car on Interstate 89 in Williston on Sunday. If a dad, he's in the running.

Pay attention to Scott's basics about connectivity. It'll save you grief (and added cable costs) later. I wanted to get an adequate surround sound system but have two good front speakers for music. I found a dealer that knew his sh$t but didn't charge obnoxious prices. This is his website:Blue Oasis Audio (see Products page) - there are probably local dealers in NH (hey, I was just in Hanover!) that carry similar lines (good equipment but reasonably priced). I bought my stuff in pieces rather than all at once. I am still saving for a Thorens turntable but may pick up the new Denon (see New under the site I posted above) that has a good price point. The only component I stepped up was the sub-woofer. I wanted one that had remote control for the sub depending on the type of music/surround-sound we were listening to. To answer your ? and add to what others are saying - It's tough to know depending on the dimensions/structure of your room whether you can get something you would consider adequate for your price point. As others have indicated, Paradigm has some good equipment. You may want to consider two good front speakers and see how they sound. Then add the center, sub, and rears later when you get more coin (and, if you feel you require them). Due to the dimensions of our room, we were able to use bookshelves. We brought in several CDs to the store (above link) and he switched between the different bookshelves that he offered while our music played and there was considerable difference in fullness, high end, etc. between them. We chose what sound appealed to us based on the type of music we typically play. OTOH - you probably want a SS system right away and a Best Buy or similar retailer will probably have an OK system at the price point you want and you will be very happy with it.

Volvo...does anyone here drive or driven one?
Mr Info replied to taterhill's topic in Off the Wall Archives
I've had a couple of them: 1996 965 (wagon) - picked it up new in Sweden with the Volvo European delivery option. Lots of great stories from that trip - thanks for bringing a smile to my face today. Put 212k on it and sold it. That car was solid when I sold it and I beat the crap out of it. 1998 V70 - This is more in line with what you're considering. '98 was the first year of this revised model and I liked it but it was no where near as durable as the 960. Bought it with 120k and sold it with 160k. Not many expensive issues with the car but if you need to replace the belts, etc. and are having your maintenance done at a Volvo shop, figure on some big maintenance bills. If I couldn't do the work, I knew a guy good with Volvos (he had the diagnostic equipment) and I would buy the parts on-line and he did the work. I would buy another V70 but only after having it checked thoroughly and looking at all the maintenance records. -
Have you ever been to a tailgate at a Bills' game? Though sometimes the game stinks, the fun before a game is outstanding. Joining friends and family beforehand at a Bills' tailgate, regardless of the weather, has been a whole lot of fun every time I go. And I always see something unique or different every time. It's difficult to disagree with your second paragraph if that were true for me. I am a remote long-time season ticket holder and though I only attend a few games a year, I cannot remember the last time one of those things happened to me. And I sit in the lower level not the club seats.

OK - I'm in, too. Older PF but oddly relevant. Following the path as it leads toward The darkness in the north Weary stranger's faces show their sympathy They've seen that hope before

My son and I will be there and loud. I can only make it up there for two games this year and I'm thinking it can only go up from the last one I attended (Browns) a few weeks back.

Not agreeing with the choice but they are from VA Virginia northern flying squirrel. I'll agree with someone else that if they put the squirrel in a leather jacket, etc., they might be able to come up with an OK image. The images they proposed for the Flatheads and Hushpuppies looked lame. It ended up that Flatheads also carries some negative racial overtones associated with American Indians so it was yanked. They had to do the same with Hambones which was originally proposed as another moniker. The Flying Squirrel has to be better than Diamond Duck (former Richmond Braves mascot). -

Please suggest the best ranking site for FF. I will be late for my draft on Sunday night and want to pass off my rankings to someone that will draft for me until I arrive. Thanks

I disagree a bit. I am no Canadian apologist but a lot of good medical discoveries have originated in Canada and then the US has taken it and expanded upon it. I am certain the opposite is also true but Canada (as well as many other countries) do not have the heavy oversight of the FDA and are able to perform clinical research on drugs. devices, and procedures that would face significant delays with FDA approval. Here's a few: Breakthrough cancer discovery Edmonton Protocol - islet cell transplant for diabetes Engineered cell therapy trial for lung disease

Innsbrook Concerts (Richmond area) - Beware!!
Mr Info replied to Mr Info's topic in Off the Wall Archives
That's a good analogy. If I got a ticket for going 56 in a 55, I would be as surprised as I was last night for getting bumped from that particular concert for passing a doobie. If I had been at a Raffi show, I would expect to be nailed for passing a bone. -

It could have been me if that was 20 years ago. That stopped when I started competing in 10Ks and triathlons. -

Innsbrook Concerts (Richmond area) - Beware!!

To clarify my OP and address some feedback: I no longer smoke anything but I don't care if others do. I didn't get lippy with the RMC staff - I laughed in disbelief and asked why he picked me out. That was it and then we walked right out the gate with him following. I was shocked as I have never been tossed from anywhere in my life. The police that were there at Innsbrook from my perspective were fine - I spoke with a few of them outside the venue before I went in and they were engaging. The RMC rent-a-cops were over-zealous and that was my point of the post. If you go there, that may be something to expect. I shouldn't have put myself in that situation and I am surprised it became a situation at that concert. I am unsure if they tossed the dancing guy and girl but I saw them speak to them and move them out of the aisle. I never saw the dancers later but they does not confirm they were tossed...but I wouldn't be surprised. A little less aggressiveness by the rent-a-cops would be appreciated. Yeah, I know they're doing their jobs but the crowd was easygoing and did not warrant this craziness. IMO, the impact of the heavy-handedness of the rent-a-cops can also spread to a general perception of the police as well. -

Indiscriminate from the standpoint in that they could have nabbed any number of people within a small radius of us at the show but they snagged us. If we were the only ones doing this, then it isn't indiscriminate. Now, perhaps they had their eye on us and were targeting us and waiting for us to do something but I doubt it. Most likely, they were snooping around and just happened to be in the area and see my wife smoking and passing it to me (btw - I wasn't smoking) and nabbed us. Obviously (due to others that I saw being excorted out the gate), they were sending other staff into crowd areas to boot people. At that show, they could have stood blindfolded anywhere within the crowd and have a 50% chance to nab a smoker by reaching a hand out. You may be right about it being safer going to the port-a-johns...as I said, I wasn't smoking so I didn't consider it. I was in the wrong place at the wrong time. My point of the thread is that there is a number of hard-core police wannabes on the security staff at those shows so beware. I had been there about a month ago and didn't notice the same situation. Perhaps this attitude was beefed up for this show but, just-in-case, be aware the next time you go. Maybe next show the security staff will be standing on stools outside the port-a-john vents. -

As expected, a bunch of people were smoking the evil weed throughout the crowd. We declined a few times when jays were passed our way. The one time my wife takes a hit and I am passing it to the next person, one of the RMC staff in their official red outfit stealthily descends on us and tells us we have to leave...if not, he is going to call the cops on his walkie-talkie. I looked at him and laughed but he had that look of trying to make everything right in the world and was too serious for screwing around with. I protested somewhat but he kept reiterating how he could arrest me. So, he walked us out of the place and we turned the corner and watched the rest of the show outside the gates just beyond the beer tent. Us and a bunch of the other scofflaws that they targeted. Some other people were dancing in the VIP tent area aisles (right in front of where we were standing before we got tossed) and they made them sit down or they were going to toss them. They weren't in anyone's way as everyone was standing. Sheeesh! -
I know some Richmond area residents have been talking about attending concerts at Innsbrook. My wife and I were tossed out of the RatDog/moe show tonight about halfway through RatDog (bummer...right during Playing in the Band). Although the place is crawling with cops, they have a bunch of Niedermeyers on RMC (event services company that staffs the events) and they were moving through the crowd and tossing people indiscriminately for whatever was against policy. I saw several other people get tossed around the same time as us. FYI if you're going.

There were only 3 different food vendors when I was there last month but most people aren't there for the food anyway. I saw a whole bunch of flasks and other snuck-in liquor. I also caught two busts there last year by the overzealous Henrico cops. But I'll be there this Wed for Weir and moe.
